Potatoes are one of the largest vegetable crops in the world. They were first cultivated in Peru, around 5,000-7,000 BCE – give or take. The versatile spud can be enjoyed in some way for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and as a snack. What really makes the potato stand out, is the many things you can put on or in it, as demonstrated by the loaded baked potato.

Good morning – potatoes, so versatile, in one form or another they go with everything! Had a few potatoes that were starting to look back at me so I made them into mashed potatoes and had them for dinner.
KJ, Mac thanks Dorry for the wormhole hangout on black cat day. They compared stripes and markings and fur coloring!
The past few nights have been chilly here in Jersey. I haven’t been in the pool since before the hurricane when the water was warm. Glad I got in when the weather was hot, the water might be cold for the rest of the season.

We had potatoes a couple of nights ago with dinner. I made cuts all down the potato but not all the way through, put olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper and roasted them in the oven. They are delicious!

I am heading out soon for a trip to the hair salon! Avery and Mr. KZ will hang out until I get back. Probably will bring lunch home with me. Yesterday they had a bucket with little tadpoles in it and Avery got to hold them while they wiggled and tried to get away. These didn’t even have front or back legs yet, and were probably just hatched. I love teaching my granddaughters about the natural world!

I’ll save you is too cute!

We’re having record temps. and no rain which is really hurting the wildfire fighting efforts.

Enjoy your salon appointment. Tadpoles are cool! I was amazed that frogs came from such teeny creatures.

I’m grumpy today so I’ll go do something positive.

    Remember to dance the dance!

How many people fall … hehehe

    I get you PG.

JJ, Dorry so enjoyed his guy time with Mac! Must do it again!

I’m just so thankful that my toilet got fixed and that it was a common prob. As I was quite not well last night into this a.m. and still feel the tiredness and am drained out today. Still did my reg things as per.

Weather is quite nice, way cooler so shut off A/C and opened windows.

Car accident on my corner! I heard the crash and both cars were damaged, but I don’t see ambulance so hopefully no one was srsly hurt. Still, there were several police cars and the fire dept. at the scene, now down to one police car and both cars were towed I guess.

I make “smashed potatoes” by boiling some of those wee new ones in micro, then smashing them in parchment paper lined bake pan with some olive oil, seasoning them with whatever I feel like, ie garlic powder, chive, throwing on some sliced ‘shrooms. Then I bake them in t. oven for like 20 min, flip them and do another 20 min. Finally I throw on soe shredded cheese and back into the micro they go til cheese melts. Very easy.

Think I’ll do some more of my online course to distract.

Not a collision at the corner south of mine, but we thank all that is holy. A young guy in a sport car with a woman the same age (assume girlfriend) turned the wrong way at highway speed and practically killed a young service station attendant, who ran (probably in an attempt to catch their licence number) and sped off the wrong way on a busy one-way street). This criminal act took place in the small parking lot of a Canadian Tire centre (they sell tires, but also hardware and household products, a place a lot of families go, by car, by bicycle or on foot.

    Grrr.

I like to make Spanish tortillas. Omelettes with potato, not Mexican maize flatbread. Mild onion such as red onions or Vidalias (those will make the tortilla a bit sweet) can be an addition.
