    He’s in the hospital, getting fluids. We took him in on sunday cause he was looking ‘off’. They admitted him to hospital, ran some tests. Stage 2 renal disease, and he has an infection in his liver. The boy is 18; we knew this was coming. Still feels like someone has punched me in the stomach.

    {{{Skyron}}} Leela is smuggling a soft toy for Shakespear to cuddle; she knows how icky being in the hospital is.

    If he’s there for a while, you may want to bring a shirt or something you wore that hasn’t been laundered yet. Your scent will comfort him.

    I am sorry, may the hospital be able to help him so that he can return home with you.

    I too hope he can come home with you for awhile longer. Every day becomes poignant and precious when we know the end is closer than it used to be. Joan’s suggestion is a great one, a little thing like a familiar shirt with your smell can be very comforting to your boy.

    I’m going down to the vet’s office tomorrow, and I’m taking my boy home. He’s never been able to cope well with stressfull situations, and a prolonged hospital stay isnt going to do him any good. I’ll be happy to administer treatments at home, I’ll take him through to their office every day if necessary, but he’s not staying there for one more day.

    The woman who called me today with the news sounded as sympathetic and kind as goldfish. She could just as well have been commenting on the weather. That, and only getting some form of feedback almost 3 days after he was admitted, seriously peeves me. I tried calling again, to get his details from the blood tests (helps with researching crf), they couldnt talk to me, took my details and promised to call me back, which hasnt happened. I have a very good mind to find myself another vet . . .

    Prayers and white light for you and Shakespeare, Sky. My ladies send friendly purrs and head bonks. I agree with you, home is always better whenever feasible.

    Sorry to hear this news, Sky. Gentle head bonks for Shakespear and hugs for you. I know he will get wonderful care with you. Why aren’t you a vet?!

    Oh Skyron, I am so sorry. But I’m also so happy that you will have Shakespear with you so that you can tell each other how much you love each other.

    Sorry for your bad news Skyron. Definitely see about a different vet. Might want to give whomever runs the vet’s office where you had Shakespear a piece of your mind. After all they took your money and the least they can do is give you the complete details. Give me their phone number and I would be happy to make their ears raw!

    Oh Skyron, I’m sorry. But I’m glad you’re bringing Shakespeare home. I nursed Titch 24/7 for his last week or so, it was a sad, but very special time {{HUGS}}

    That is very sad news Skyron but I am happy you’re bringing your boy home so you can nurse him. He will be a happier cat at home.

    Grrrrr to the vet and the ‘Goldfish’. You do whatever you feel you have to for Shakespeare.
