    Hi MS,

The coffee pot is always hot and I believe the crew has even brewed a fresh pot. I could very much use a latte right about now, completely wiped from the gym where I self-taught my own spin class, seems I am a very hard instructor LOL. A Manx kitty has set aside her scrabble pieces and is bringing your coffee directly through the wormhole to NZ. Enjoy!

Hi KJ, what a cute wee Manx and that coffee is so welcome.
Wow you are disciplined, teaching your own spin class. I hope you had encouraging words for yourself.
We are doing absolutely nothing at the moment and it is wonderful after a full day yesterday.

Hi Commune, Merry Christmas. LOL at your blood type.
I think mine must be salad and pavlova(Kiwi dessert).

Hi MS! Merry Christmas to you too! Pavlova looks delicious 🙂 (looked it up on Wikipedia)

Pavlova is delicious and decadent and so full of sugar so you don’t eat huge slices of it but it wouldn’t be Christmas dinner without a ‘pav’ in NZ.
We have a beautiful sunny day today, Summer is back on track.

    Hi MS and Commune!

Chef Kitty took the *subtle* hint and now a pavlova and beigli are on the buffet table. I looked up pavlova as well, wondering what a ballerina had to do with dessert, still don’t know but the cake looks almost too pretty to eat, the pic I saw featured kiwis and strawberries. As for beigli, interesting, must really be an Eastern European dessert, as it is often featured in Jewish cookery, and many so-called “Jewish” recipes are actually related to the area where the people lived. For example Moroccan Jews eat foods as per other peeps in Morocco, couscous and the like. Food history trivia dispensed with, we call it nut roll, even if it’s made with poppy seeds and I prefer the one with walnut paste, must be nutritious too, nuts are real healthy, right? Real nice with a good coffee!

    Mom sometimes makes this: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flódni
    This is a Jewish-Hungarian dessert

    #798096

    that looks reallly good.

For dessert we had blueberry pierogies with whipped topping. Although I was stuffed, I had to try it. Now it’s quiet, and I’m on the couch thinking I need a second wind to clean up the dishes.
Comet was sociable, and had fun diving into the wrapping paper. He is looking dapper, too, wearing a green ribbon over his collar.

Happy Christmas! I have happy cats that are exhausted from playing with the Cat’s Meow–they ran the batteries out! Dogs have full bellies and new beds. Turkey is roasting and soon I will put in the squash, rutabaga, and potatoes. What a wonderful day–truly blessed!

It does look delish Commune – and it also has nuts, so it’s also nutritious!

Mmmm all those desserts look YUM! Glad everyone enjoyed. How cute that Comet was social and enjoyed the “wrapping paper”. I bet everyone got a kick out of his antics. 🙂
Wow! Did anyone see that GORGEOUS, intense sunset tonight? Whoa… I just happened to go outside to get the suet holder the squirrels carried off and to fill the feeder, and saw it! It was just amazing… There were tons of snowbirds out here all day, eating seeds from the tall dried out weeds. I ran my car to clear the windshield, and saw kitty tracts in the snow as well as birdie tracks. How CUTE!!!!
I made the loaf of bread in my bread machine and ate both ends right away. Love that crunch. Will use the rest for my stuffing.
I received some lovely gifts from my sister, my Jersey Shore friend, and my sweet little Amanda that lives in Florida. She is calling me later. My dear sister called me this morning. I had a lovely day. 🙂
I love hearing about everyone’s Christmas Day. SM, glad to hear the dogs got new beds, have full bellies and that your cats got lots of exercise today. Awwww… My two were fighting again! Had to put one in my bedroom for awhile. 🙁

Hello, everyone, Boxing Day here, as MS said, I do not think I am going to get much done at all! Had a lovely day at my childhood home yesterday with my mum and brother and lots of lovely food, my dad much missed, as always, he left the biggest hole. It was our second Chrissy without him. Commune, my mum always makes a Christmas log of sponge, melted chocolate and whipped cream, it’s absolutely yummy and she got the recipe years ago from my Auntie Patsy, who is Kiwi, who married my Uncle Stephen (who was Hungarian). So we don’t know if it is a Hungarian recipe or a Kiwi one but it’s yummy!

Hello Jcat!!!! It has been forever that I have been here while you are! Nice to hear of your Christmas day. The log dessert sounds just awesome! Sorry about your dad not being with you for Christmas. 🙁 Must have been so special to spend it at your childhood home. My daddy loved the sponge log that had raspberry filling with coconut! It was SO good too. We usually had pumpkin pie, cookies and fudge for dessert. Dad and I even made pull taffy a few years. Our center piece was a fat piece of birch tree with two big red candles, fresh cut greens over it with little decorations attached. I loved it! So festive and special. 🙂

Hi, Bumblebee, Merry Christmas, it’s lovely to ‘see’ you. Ooh, raspberry and coconut, those are two of my favourite flavours too, yum, yum. Our table centrepiece yesterday was a vase of fat pink fuchsias, they looked lovely, in a wreath of tiny Venetian glass flowers. My mum had looked for roses but there weren’t any left in the garden, they are between blooms!
