Good morning KJ, MS! Feeling like I can breathe today without tearing up, although the tears are right there. You all have been so supportive and wonderful but then that’s why I hang out here. Oh my, it’s Sandwich Day, woo hoo, may have to stop in at the deli and see if they are running any specials! AND it’s election day here so will be going to the polls after Avery’s mom picks her up. Beautiful day here again in the Midwest, almost summer like really with temps up in the 70’s. I’ll take it!
I don’t know what that is in the bottom pic MS, (a roll with chocolate on it) and in the shape of a kitty–I’d like one with butter and a smooth, rich cup of coffee. I’ll just step into the cafe for the kits to whip me up some…later!

Hi everyone – oooh, sammich day, nice! Loving the pics; huntin’ kitty reminds me of burger-stealing Shaddo! ‘I need dis’ cracks me up too!
    KZ, you know we all know all to well the tears bubbling just below the surface. Weird, when I started that thread the other night, I was thinking of not just the newbies needing comfort, but that it could happen to any of us at any time. Everyone here seems to have the same conclusion though – wouldn’t trade the heartache for not having that kitty in our life. {{{hugs}}}
I was late with breakfast for the outdoor crew this morning, and 3 of the 4 ‘regulars’ came to my yard! I’ve decided to encourage it, since I’m feeding them they might as well eat in my yard.

    Hi everybody,

I’m dragging my butt into the café. I went to WWE wrestling last night. It was good fun and, of course, my man Roman Reigns was there (hubba, hubba). It’s so funny see how we all have our favorites. I need coffee and then who knows…

Yeah JJ, at times the slightest things wil set the waterworks off again. Like writing my piece about Nicky, but cathartic in a way, too, I realize that I’ll never truly let him go, but do I want to? Think not.
KZ, good that you’re feeling even a tad calmer. I too would like one of what looks like a kitty brioche, meaning already soaked in butter, might even be a choclatine, meaning choco on inside as well. I’ll nom it as follows: first a nibble on the ears to create a Scottish Fold kit, then the rest. With a latte plse. *Havana Brown kit brings order over and gets scritches as thanks!)
Bakc to the rush job, for which they’ve graciously added $$$ to agreed-upon free as recompense for my being inconvenienced. Quite decent of them! L8R!

Morning all! *passes* tissue box around …. we all get teary at times …. like Joan said, never know when it will hit you ….

Busy day, lots of inputting to do …. Mr. AV has decided to split a large can of wet food between the three girls in the mornings, so now they are all meowing at the top of their lungs when he gets up! ….. hard to sleep thru, trust me! Ve had to go to the v-e-t yesterday, her allergies got bad, and she need some roids and antibotics …. she’s feeling much better …. I rubbed some coconut oil on her spots, and the v-e-t was impressed that it helped so much ….. 3 weeks till they leave for LV …. counting the days 😉

… time for me to get busy – have a great day all! will catch up later

Like JJ, I have a cat cafe in the garden. I’ve been putting out some food I’d stocked up on for Rincewind, not long before he departed . . . Merlin will eat some, but it seemed a pity to waste the rest. And there are quite a lot of cats around here, mostly homed but a few I’m less sure about. So they get a little extra most lunch and tea times. (Not when the rain is hammering down – dry food isn’t nice when it turns to sludge!)

They must have heard that it’s Sandwich Day, because I too had four waiting for me today! Two black, two ginger, all now fed and happy.

Daft? Oh, probably . . . but one or two are looking so much healthier lately, sleeker and shinier. So the cafe will continue for a while, I think!

I get my sandwich once I’ve done my good deed for the day. Cheese perhaps . . . and I have to leave a little smear of butter for Merlin at the end. He’s not a great fan of human food, but he’s prepared to make an exception for a spot of butter.

Aw, that’s nice to have an outdoor café for the ferals/strays CWS & Joan.
Know how that is…café in my yard is usually frequented by Otto along w/pals
Plus pigeons when they are not around. Yup, those birds now eat purina blue cat kibble too! :/
Oh well – do what we can do!

    Hey, it’s that time…Lunchtime!
DLS Time - time for Nomz
    😉
(I really don’t care for DLSTime – plus did you know the energy companies make extra $$ during this time of year because of extra hour
of darkness later this season! 🙁 )

Ok, heading out to purry patio for some RR – psst Tux, will join you on our fave chair now…ahh…purrfect!

    Good morning all.
It’s wet here today and cool with possible thunderstorms later.
    Loving the pics.
As for the cute cat shaped breads I posted here is the page that goes with them –
    http://www.bakeforhappykids.com/2013/04/funny-cat-tuna-bread-buns.html
I’m not a fan of tuna but for those who are or who want to change the filling to vegetarian they sound great.
KZ, glad you feel a little better today. {{hugs}} So, you have the day we should be having. Just this once I will let you keep it as we seriously need rain, we have had a dry Winter and El Nino is going to punish us badly this Summer with little or no rain. 🙁
JJ, your own back yard cat cafe. I am sure they all appreciate your efforts. I love that thread you started and I too shed a tear remembering our pets over the Bridge especially my wee dog Duff. He was a bit of a mix of farm dog breeds and didn’t know if he wanted to be a heading dog, huntaway or eye dog. He had short legs but somehow still managed to clamber on the backs of sheep to move them along when in the yards. He even challenged the Alpha dog for all the working dogs on the farm(at least 30) when Beau got too close to me one day. Beau was smart enough to know that Duff was young, dumb and just protecting me. He was my first ever dog. Sadly when we moved back to the city we had to sell him and he escaped his kennel and tried to find his way back to me on a main road and the rest you can guess.
    😥 😥
AV, you had me 😆 at the antics going on now that Mr AV has set a precedent with the can of morning wet food. Awww Ve, hope you feel better soon. Coconut oil is great.
JK, love the pic of the two threatening cats.
CWS, you also have a cat cafe in the yard. It’s lovely you can see the improvement in the cats now you are feeding them. Shadz is a wee cheese fiend and of course a little butter on the end of a crust won’t be ignored either especially if it has Vegemite or Marmite on it too.
I haven’t been able to feed my wild birds lately as the fruit shop I got cheap older bananas from has stopped selling them but at least it is Spring and food is plentiful for all the nesting birds. Shadz decided to climb to the top of her favourite climbing shrub yesterday and suddenly all heck broke out with swearing blackbirds dive bombing her. They must have a nest nearby, they birds even flew into the shrub to chase her down out of it. She didn’t appreciate me standing laughing though and slunk off to the other side of the house. I was forgiven later.
Ohhhhhhhhh, sun ! We have some sunlight. Yay.
HRH Shadz must have known it was coming as she is already outside investigating who may have passed through her territory during the night.
Hmmmmm, sun has gone and it is getting darker at 11am. Must be more rain on the way. I had better check the doors for a certain dappled Tortie wanting in.

Now I’m crying for you too, MS, poor doggie!
Well, beat own record as just finished rush job, like 55 pages of translation in under 2 days all told. Long story short, the French original was delayed extensively and someone needs English version for conference this Thursday, which is where I come into picture. They did offer me more money which I graciously accepted LOL. Added cash will nicely pay for my new micro, and more!
So MS, here are pics of kitchen re-do. Re-painted the whole thing by mixing 5 shades of Dollar Store acrylic paint to get deep rust as per original (no paint odour, no fumes, safe for all inhabitants here.) Then cut and painted shelves and with help installed. Amazing free counter space. Pics are my own, cross-stitch done on plastic canvas, ‘cept for cat-themed reproductions.PS Stove has not been used as yet, “virginal” since its purchase in 2014, needed for place as I rent, I killed previous stove when removing door to try to clean in between glass, why, I’ve no logical reply. So wiped, yet pleased with day’s accomplishment and lifting of pressure, that joked with colleague that I should have a private “cinq à sept” – French for drinking event, mine will be virtual hehehe.

G’morn MS – thanks for fun tuna bun link! 🙂
KJ – awesome color choice! Creative on a budget works for me too!

Yay, it’s almost that time – 1/2 hour to go.
Will head home, promised to air out Crockey
Then more leaf raking fun…well, at least it’s still relatively warm out!

Paw up waves wishing all pawsome rest of today…now a smooch for Tux, later all!

Sorry I made you cry 😥 KJ. Ot’s not often I cry about my late furpets because I know they are safe and happy now and I try to remember the great times we had when they we with me.
We just had a big downpour of rain. HRH Shadz was already waiting at the door when I checked and even though she only had a few drops of rain on her coat she still insisted I towel her thoroughly then she headed to her plates to clean up the last of the steak and kitty milk and yoghurt and then it was upstairs and the difficult decision of which of two beds to curl up on to sleep. Apparently I made that decision easier by putting a cove on one bed that she didn’t approve of so it was off to the next room and curl up quickly before Meowmy can ruin this sleeping place. Sigh.
KJ, well done on the speed translating, I bet you feel relieved to have it done and I like how you graciously accepted the kind offer of more $$$$. 😉
Wow the kitchen looks great, love the wall colour and the shelving looks wonderful. All that counter space now must be so good.
I had to chuckle at the ‘virginal’ stove and I knew of someone who also killed their stove in the same manner. 🙁 (not me)
You have every right to be pleased with the days accomplishments especially the kitchen. Why not have a cinq a` sept, just in your own style. I’m sure Dorry would join you for a while.

Just had another heavy squall of rain, HRH Shadz is right in heading to bed. I may join her later as noisy neighbours had a party that didn’t end until well after 2am. Very quiet at their place today. Where’s my chainsaw. 👿 👿
JK, give Crockey a chin scritch fro me please and happy leaf raking.
    Almost noon here.
    Catch you tomorrow JK.

    No worries MS!
Tks for kudos on work and kitchen re-do.
Indeed, where is your chainsaw hehehe.
Plse don’t throw shoes my way (unless they’re very smart-looking and size 5) but we’re experiencing sunny, summer-esque temps over the next few. You never know what you’ll get here. Across the country, on Pacific Coast they have snow, which they rarely get, even in Winter!

Your kitchen looks so organized and cool. Great work, KJ. I have never heard of your oven cleaning method so I apologize for laughing so hard I nearly fell down.

If you can’t find your chainsaw, a weed whacker or lawn mower work just as well.

It’s been in the high 60s with sun for the last two days but we’re supposed to get snow on Thursday with freezing temps. It was windy today and all the leaves on my neighbors’ trees are in my yard…again. I just finished raking them up on Monday. Arugh

Remembering my loved ones in the Meadow is what makes me hoomin

Shoes will NOT be coming your way – mine are not size 5.
We are done with the rain for a few hours and then the rest of the week in sunny so I won’t be gating you. It’s great that you are having such lovely weather at the moment. Same sort of crazy weather here with the south of the country having snow forecast. Guess that what is happens when you live near one of the polar caps.
HRH is still asleep upstairs and probably won’t come down until dinner time. Typical cat behavior.

Well MS, glad your rain is (hopefully) over for the day and rest of week. It was glorious here today and will be until towards the end of the week, but still mid 50’s aren’t that bad. Took Avery out for a walk which is a test of my fortitude as she wants to wander wherever and that obviously just doesn’t work. So I herded her towards the barn but we had to navigate through a dry creek bed and up a steep little hill. Of course she wouldn’t hear of holding my hand and as she jerked away from me she did a somersault down the hill and landed sitting up on her little butt. She wailed of course, while I laughed my head off (it was quite funny in slow motion and she deserved her little scare) and she ended up being a more obedient baby for a few minutes after that!
The absence of Katherine filled my heart with aches and my eyes with tears as she was my constant companion, always beside me meowing her questions to me and always staying just far enough ahead of me that if I bent down to pet her, she would dart off and lay down again. I found a rat that she left for me by the 4-wheeler. I don’t know why, but this has about undone me. She always left a shrew on the sidewalk to the mailbox and a frog on the porch. I am so grateful that you all understand and forgive me my ramblings. I know she is safe and whole, but I miss her dreadfully.
KJ, love your kitchen! I had to laugh about you killing your stove, but you know I took the door apart too to clean between the glass as it had dust and dust bunnies in there! Why would they make a stove where air can get up in there like that?!
Sorry I always seem to miss you JK!
Joan and CWS I love your backyard cafes! I guess I have always had one too, but like the idea of calling it a cafe is much more stylish!
AV you made me laugh about counting the days–I’m sure it hasn’t been easy trying to please the ‘grandcats’. And the coconut oil is something I learned from you — now Mr. KZ and I both use it everyday!
PG, don’t worry about those stinking leaves as the wind will blow again in the other direction and they will be in your neighbor’s yard next time!!

Absolutely no need for apologies KZ. We understand and if talking helps somewhat we’re here to listen.
As for my stove. As regards the incident in question when cleaning the already clean oven I noticed some door screws and figured that they must be there to hold glass in place, ergo they can be unscrewed. Makes sense. Things were going along more or less smoothly as I was able to remove said glass. Did not realize how heavy it was and it slipped from my grasp and crashed on the floor. Shards of broken glass everywhere and a cat on the loose!!! Very not good. As mentioned, current stove has never been used and point in time I plan to keep it this way. Why bother when my toaster oven suffices? And for cooktop I have my electric single burner. If not for the fact that my place came with stove included, meaning that I had to buy a replacement I might have not replaced it. Could have used the area for a breakfast nook or something. Oh well, in retrospect it is sorta funny.
It’s true about time change equalling more use of electricity. Plus I have a humidifier running and soon I’ll be turning the heat up. Guess that the electric company deserves to make money too. 🙁
I’m tired out and heading off to bed. See you all in the am!
