Today in 1970, legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix died in London, England. Hendrix is considered to be the greatest guitarist in the history of rock and roll. He headlined the 1969 Woodstock concert, and the techniques he pioneered have influenced rock music for the nearly 40 years since his death.

Also today in 1905, actress Greta Garbo was born in Sweden. Considered the finest silent film actress in Hollywood’s Golden Age, Garbo was famous for being a recluse in her personal life.
