My girls are 7 weeks now, I’ve had them for 2 and they are continuing to do great! I swear I think they change even from one nap to the next:) I’m wondering when they should start eating dry food and how important it is? They are not interested @ all. They eat high quality grain free kitten food (Blue Buffalo Wilderness Kitten or Core Wellness Kitten) and the dry food my cat Bella eats is Blue Buffalo Wilderness as well. Their food bowl is in the same area as Bella’s and they will sniff it and drink water but that’s it. They eat 1 can a day each of the Blue and about 1/2 can of the Core. They also really like goats milk but I don’t give them much anymore because I want them to eat. How important is it that they eat dry food? I heard that for their teeth I need to get them switched soon.

    Here is a helpful link:

I feed wet 2x’s day and keep better grade dry kibble out & water all times.

You can get dental treats as “Greenies” too.

Also click pink tags on upper right for more chat/links.

If you can afford it, canned food is much better for them. Dry food doesn’t clean the teeth, at best it may stick to the teeth a little bit less than canned. Anyways, we figure the nutritional benefits of canned are worth it and are trying to establish tooth brushing. We also use CET oral hygiene chews once a day to help clean their teeth (they are bigger and chewier than greenies.)

Thanks for the link. Thats kind of what I thought but someone @ Petsmart told me that about the dry food yesterday. Bella eats mostly canned with dry food out if she’s hungry between feedings and that’s how the kittens are. Just wondering if I was wrong:)

Thanks for the CET info ECB! True, greenies are getting smaller anyway prob for $ economics & not for pets!

Ec is right… If you can afford it stick to wet food.. I have a few of my immune suppressed cats on wet only and its grain/cereal free free which is important also make sure the wet food tin says “complete cat food” if it doesn’t steer clear…

He best wet food doesn’t always need to be expensive though here in Ireland in a store called Aldi they have a complete wet food called vita cat food its a complete food is grain free and is actually the best wet food I’ve found on the market here and that’s 24 cent a tray and 3 trays are recommend a day for an adult cat so that’s not too expensive.. Oh if your sticking with wet try and make it pate and avoid gravy cause its a carbohydrate and carbohydrates should be avoided if at all possible all they do is pile on the weight… Infant there are so many carbohydrates in some dry foods that cats frequently develope diabetes and kidney/bladder infections…

Thanks we have a Aldis right by my house so I’ll have to look into their food. Bella eats Blue Buffalo’s duck because she can’t have fish. Lol a cat that can’t have fish!!
