Okay. I am really scared right now…

A few days ago I found a baby kitten outside my house. It had apparently been abandoned. It is four weeks old but less than half of the size it should be. I took it in and had been nursing it back to health. It had been doing good so far. Feisty, playful, good appetite and peed and pooped normally.

Well, a couple days ago my mother decided that she wanted to keep the kitten for herself so I told her how to take care of it and let her have her.

Unfortunately my mother has never really taken care of a kitten and didn’t follow all of my advice because yesterday she put a bit of frontline flea treatment on her. As I said before, the kitten is only four weeks old. Now Cheskah(the kitten) won’t eat and is extremely weak.. Before all of this she was running around very well and very energetic. Now if you put her on the floor she just lays down and tries to sleep.

My mother has given me the kitten back but I can’t take her to the vet for almost two weeks. Please help me! I really want this baby to be okay!!!!!

Was it the big spray bottle of frontline your mom used, or the spot-on drops? I’ve seen vets give newborn kittens a very fine mist squirt or frontline without it causing any problems, so if your mum only used a tiny bit, i cant see how it would cause this type of reaction?

Did the kitty have a lot of fleas? Its possible that she might be anemic if she had a lot of fleas. To be safe, give her a gentle wash with some dawn dishwashing liquid, dry her off properly with a towel, and give her some pedialyte or karo syrup, the sugar might help her perk up a bit.

Lily, how is the kitten doing? It sounds like a toxic reaction and she needs to see a vet immediately.
