Harry is going to be getting a new big sister in the next week or so, her name is Pandora she is about 6 years old and was dumped in the countryside in a cardboard box covered in fleas, full of matted hair and half starved luckily an elderly couple heard her meows and handed her into the cat shelter, I went out yesterday to have a look at her after seeing her online, omg what a sweetie she is, purred constantly her hair has been shaved off in patches by the vet, fleas have been treated but she is skin and bones poor wee thing and she also has thyroid problems and will be on medication for ever we will find out more when her blood results come back this week, but we fell in love with her, it wont be long till she’s home getting all the love and attention she needs, I will post a pic of her when we get her home.

The poor little thing – she looks like she’s had some hard knocks in life. How wonderful that you could see past the neglect and give her a chance. She will be gorgeous when she’s filled out, cleaned up and properly cared for.

Isn’t it amazing how an animal can come from an uncaring, even abusive, environment and still be sweet and trusting. I don’t think I would be purring if someone had treated me so badly.

Once you know more about her thyroid condition, maybe you can ask the vet about radiation therapy. I’m hearing more and more good stories about how well it works (including the neighbour’s cat who is like a new kitty after her therapy).

I think she’s already beautiful 🙂 She just needs a little primping and a lot of love.

    Yay Lesley!

How wonderful! I hope she has a great life with you and Harry. Be sure to read up on cat introductions. Taking it slowly works wonders.

The cats protection society say they will pay for her medication for her thyroid for the rest of her days and it will probably be removed but will find out for sure this week, but we said we will pay it ourself and to use the money for another sick cat, I’ve never heard of radiation treatment I will mention that to the vet,,,,she is soooo pretty even tho she has big bald patches, she is so thin and has an upset tummy all the time but that is to be expected and is on a special cat food till she’s better, I’m looking forward to getting her home, but she has to get neutered and possibly her thyroid removed so she’s still got to get through all that first, poor wee girl.

Oh yay! New kitty! Anyone who rescues is a star in my book, but especially people who give older kitties a second chance. Thank you so much 🙂

Just been told that Pandora is about 10 years old according to the vet going by her teeth, but the ladies at the shelter think she’s about 6/7, she has to be on her medication for the next week before I can get her home, then she goes to get her thyroid removed, is it a big operation? has anybody elses cat had their thyroid removed? I’m so looking forward to getting her home and properly looked after and spoilt, she is in a foster home for now,, oh and I hope Harry is going to be ok with her, she is such a small delicate little thing and Harry is turning into a big boy but he has such a sweet nature, I wont be able to take my eyes off them for a second but hopefully they become best pals!!
