I mentioned once that my son’s girlfriend moved out and took “her” cat with her, and his cats really seemed to miss the other cat. Yesterday the girlfriend was running an ad on craiglist looking for someone to foster her cats for a month. I guess her cat was missing his cats as well, and she got 3 kittens to make up for it. She actually ran one ad rehoming her cats – all 4 – first. I guess she got homes for 2 of the kittens and just has the original cat and one kitten left. She moves in with whoever she can for a few months and then leaves to go back home, usually leaving her cat with her roommate. Her mother is allergic so she can’t take them with her. She was offering to pay someone to foster but she can’t pay my son the rent on an apartment that she was on the lease for and didn’t want him to get another roommate for the extra bedroom ( she wouldn’t agree and was really nasty about it) and that’s why he’s back home – lease is up and he had no money saved to move with. I can’t get over how she acted and now she’s doing it again with moving, only to someone else.

Karen, it sounds like your son is fortunate to have been able to get away from this girl. It’s a hard lesson, but at least there are no children involved.

Miu, CM and other appleberry lovers. I posted my grandmother’s Dutch Apple Pie recipe on its own thread. It is a family favorite. In 1990, I went over to my grandmother’s house a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving to watch how she made her pies. Along the way, I would stop and measure ingredients and wrote it all down. On Thanksgiving morning that year, she had a stroke and was never able to bake again. This recipe is sacred to my family and no gathering is complete without it. Today it is my gift to my TDK family and I hope that it goes on to be special to your families. In honor of Rosa Elizabeth Mueller McGee.

she is bipolar and on so many meds that the doctors have told her not to get pregnant ever! I really think that is a shame to have to take so much meds that it will damage any babies. and i am really glad that he is away from her – she left some nice things at his apartment and he called her about 20 times in the last 2 weeks to tell her to get her stuff. I called her on Monday and told her if she didn’t get her stuff out by Tuesday night then she would have to get with the management – John just left her stuff there. She didn’t call back and seems to be avoiding us – no surprise there.

Joan, is that your Leela? She and Buddy could be twins! And I have a Leela in residence for awhile but she looks more like a Maine Coon.

I’m sure there is, Miu, here you go! I spent about an hour playing with the cats earlier – Richard may be in trouble when they leave and I get mopey! I know that he’ll never be a cat person but maybe I can get him to go to cat shows with me again – we used to go to alot of them when we first moved to Colorado.

She didn’t really know what to do with it. She certainly couldn’t pick this up and walk away with it like she did with the lone potato she found on the counter the other day (it was going to be my lunch but it turned into Leela’s toy, followed by food for the birds)! She got a bit more interested in the pumpkin when I put Larry on top of it, though!
