Tomorrow is the fourth anniversary of losing my dear husband. Please say a prayer for both of us. I miss him terribly. Everyone tells me how well I am doing, but when you lose someone like my sweetie, it’s still difficult.

Dear, dear Emma. How right you are. The pain never goes away from losing a loved one, you just learn to live with it. You’re in my prayers, dear heart.

Awwwww, Emma, I’m so sorry. Do you have anything planned to commemorate your hubby? I’ll pray for both of you.

    I’m so sorry, Emma. It’s OK to miss him. He was an important part of your life. I lost my first husband in a car accident when I was 23. I still carry good memories of him as I journey through life. We are all here for you.{{{hugs}}}

Emma, we all grieve in our own ways, only you will know when and how you do that. It is alright to miss him, he was a big part of your life 😉

Thank you for all of your kind words. I planned to go to Mass and just spend a quiet day at home. I live in the same place we did when we first moved here 10 years ago, and the memories of him that soaked into the walls are good ones.

The last years we had were actually the funniest. At one point, Gary said, “You know, we actually used to be able to argue without one of us starting to make faces and giggle! We used to be mature!”

Suddenly, a nasty little tumor started to grow in Gary’s brain, and our lives divided into “then” and “now.” Eight and a half months later, he was gone.

Never take anyone for granted: never. Time goes by so fast.

    Thanks again for the prayers!

Emma, I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure that time ever takes away all the pain. But it may gradually ease into a dull, aching part of your heart, rather than a sharp, searing pain.

I hope your happy memories will come to outweigh the pain of the loss you suffered. I’m glad you got to share as much of Gary’s life as you did. It sounds as if his presence in your life was a blessing.

Dear Emma, my heart is with you. Here’s a poem for you that I believe Renee from Arkansas posted here a while ago-I love to read it because it’s so very sweet.

    An Angel’s Kiss

We go through life so often,

not stopping to enjoy the day.

And we take each one for granted,

as we travel on our way.

For in your pain and sorrow,

an Angel’s kiss will help you through.

    The kiss is very private,

for it is meant for only you.

    We never stop to measure,

    anything we might just miss.

But if the wind should blow by softly,

    you’ll feel an Angel’s kiss.

A kiss that is sent from heaven,

    a kiss from up above.

A kiss that is very special,

    from someone that you love.

So when your hearts are heavy,

and filled with tears and pain,

and no one can console you,

    remember once again…

About the ones you grieve for,

    because you sadly miss.

And the gentle breeze you took for granted,

    was just AN ANGEL’S KISS.

    Much love, Jimmie
