I’m a bit of a infrequent chatter here (but I read the blog daily) but if you any of you remember me – I wrote up the story of how I met my current cat and thought maybe a few of you might enjoy it:
I don’t have much advice to add – but to answer your question, yes I went through something similar with a cat of mine. She was sick for several days, the vet thought there was very little hope as she losing control of her bowels everywhere, very very weak, etc. – and she pulled through.
Can you find any chicken or turkey based…[Read more]

He’s SO adorable! I’m glad to know Noodle is home and looks happy 🙂
Your Lola is adorable! What lovely lively eyes!
As for the flies, I wouldn’t worry about. Mine eats flies and silverfish, and she’s fine.
And for the meowing…I don’t think spraying water works. I’ve successfully used a tiny watergun (for spraying a little water) to stop three of mine (two past, one present) from darting out or jumping on…[Read more]
It IS terrible. I try to find comfort in thinking that at least Solange didn’t suffer, her suffering was over sooner. It’s the much kinder thing to do.
She was so little, and it sounds like she didn’t have much fight left. At least she was loved.
Lenny, you made her last week a good one. At least she had your love (which is so strong and bright and good) in her too short life. I know this is very, very hard on you, but it seems that Solange came to you so SHE would have love and goodness in her life. You (and Penny) were probably the only beings that ever really loved her.
As for WHY, we…[Read more]
Poor little Solange. It definitely sounds like something she had before she got to you. Maybe she had fleas before she got to the shelter and that’s why she’s so anemic?
Prayers & hope to you and Solange (and Penny too).
So today is the 2-year death “anniversary” of my first cat to die.
I was sweeping under the bed and I spotted a white – I thought a short whisker. I picked up, too soft to be a whisker. It was also tipped in orange, just like my dead (flame point) cat’s fur. She never lived in this apartment.
My current cat is a Bengal/rosetted, dark brown…[Read more]

I think perhaps your cat just doesn’t like the Natural Balance kibble. I don’t think mine did either, they did eat Instinct, and Evo (which has since been sold to P&G and been recalled so don’t recommend).
Does the pet store you purchased it from allow refunds on open bags? You can try asking, some stores in my area do allow it, but they don’t…[Read more]
She’s lovely. Very sleek. It looks like they took her photos in a florescent lighting, which isn’t very flattering to anyone – I’m sure the photos don’t do her justice 😀
Also, I just wanted to mention – when I adopted my second kitten – the rescue group fed their cats Science Diet because it was provided to them at no cost – but the lady…[Read more]
I think kittens are like human babies in some ways: they taste things to explore.
You could try chicken feed if you live in the country. It’s cheap too. And it’s very similar (if not the same) as the “World’s Best Cat Litter” brand litter.
Here are some links to the chicken feed…[Read more]
Oh, I just looked it up and normal temperature (says Google) for a cat is 99.5 – 102.5. Hmm, well, when I took my cat and his temp was 106 the vet wasn’t worried so I thought that was normal. So your kitten’s temperature seems fine.
Try calling the vet when they first open – I have better luck getting through with mine that way. And good luck…[Read more]
