Hi all, I’m not sure if anyone here uses it, but if you’re interested, my Celeste has an account now at http://instagram.com/rescuedkittyceleste 🙂
Let me know if your kit has an insta and we’ll follow back!
When cats are hormonal they do all kinds of things because they have such strong urges. They can be more violent than normal, more affectionate than normal, etc. They can get territorial and try to show dominance, etc. I think that as long as their urges are there they will do most anything to get some relief. This is why it’s so, so important to…[Read more]
Makes sense… the tom probably wanted to get to the mother and in his confusion grabbed the first female he could see. Highly doubt she’s in heat then. Poor little baby. 🙁 Good luck at the vet’s, please keep us updated.
Yikes Rachael, I’m so sorry to hear you and your baby went through this. Must have been so stressful!
Cats usually don’t reach sexual maturity until they’re about 6 months of age (which is why vets usually spay/neuter around then). However, they can actually become pregnant as young as four months. I would say that’s the cutoff though, with few…[Read more]
Hi pussigato, I feel like if it was a UTI there would be more random incidents outside of the litter box… but it only seems to happen very occasionally and in my bed. She also doesn’t show any signs of being in pain while urinating and everything else looks normal… I have a vet appointment for her coming up so I will ask.
Hi everyone! I’d really just appreciate some insight / advice and any sharing of experiences would be great.
I’ve had my kitten Celeste for about 3 weeks now, and she is approximately 10 weeks old. When I first brought her home she took to the litter box fairly well. Despite one or two accidents on the floor (never stools, thankfully, just urine)…[Read more]
Thanks for the detailed reply katzenjammer — do you know around what age you started with Dory? My kit is currently about 8 weeks and can be fussy! Hoping it’s not too late to get her accustomed 🙂
No, feline distemper is different from HPV — it’s often abbreviated to FP (Feline Panleukopenia). There’s not really a definitive test for it like there is for FeLV / FIV, but if a vet suspects it they’ll test the blood and it will often show a low white count.
Sounds like the only symptom your kit is having is vomiting, and the vet doesn’t…[Read more]
Thank you for keeping us updated JosieJ, I suppose it’s a possibility but I’ve never heard of that. I think it’s more likely that the kitties just have very sensitive stomachs and might need probiotic supplements, food made for sensitivity and digestion issues, etc.
Good to hear his FELV and FIV came back normal — was he also tested for…[Read more]
Congratulations on your new kit, first of all.
Hm, strange. Usually kittens vomit foam when something they’ve eaten has disagreed with them, but since he’s doing it so frequently it’s unlikely to be food related. It could also indicate a gastrointestinal infection of some sort. Did the vet do any other testing of any sort?…[Read more]
What beautiful babies. 🙂 Look at that little tortie!
If you’re really concerned definitely visit the vet — have you also tried giving water through a syringe if they don’t drink?
Edit: NVM, I just see you said that they will take formula; that should keep them hydrated as long as they’re not vomiting frequently.
Thanks kittyzee! Great idea! I do have a window in my bedroom — my only concern is the drapes. She likes climbing things so I don’t want her to get stuck on those while I’m gone. I think I’ll take them down for a while while she’s still in her mischievous phase and give her access to the window. Thank you for the idea.
Congrats on your new kitty 🙂 I recently was in a very similar situation — have had my Celeste for two weeks now and she was also about the same age when I found her.
She was eating fine but had the same bathroom issue as yours. It took her a few days to pass a stool and I think it may have been slightly stress related because of a…[Read more]
Thanks for the thread; I’ll definitely read up. I’ve already ordered a few more toys for her from chewy, one of which being the little turbo saucer cat scratcher with a ball they can bat around on the outside. She has a plushie that she absolutely loves biting and pouncing on. She luckily is great in her carrier, which we introduced…[Read more]
