It’s a lovely day in TDK land! Agency kitties are taking advantage of the time in between extreme seasons to spruce up the café and lounge area.
It is early spring in the southern hemisphere, and the cherry blossoms couldn’t be more beautiful. It’s fall up north, and bursts of colorful leaves are peeking through the greenery.
The fire is out and chimney-sweep kitties are having way too much fun cleaning the area, getting soot everywhere! Don’t worry, it will be spotless by the time anyone is ready to hang out there. Ceiling fans throughout have been turned off, and as some of us at home have discovered, they are loaded with dust! For some reason the long-hair cats feel this is the job for them, getting as dusty and dirty as the cats by the fireplace.
One area that is kept spic and span at all times is the kitchen and buffet area. Chef kitties are busy cooking, baking and arranging the buffet purrfectly! Whatever you crave, they will make. I can’t decide as the assortment of bagels, pastries, fruit, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, cereal and muffins all look and smell so good! Oooh, cider donuts, decision made!
    Welcome!

Hi Kandy, it’s great to see you! Hope all is well.
Thanks for stopping in, ECB. I figured the power might be out where you are. Stay safe, friend.

    Hi efurryone in TDKland,

What wonderful morning. Oh, thank you, mmm…a piping hot cup of coffee. It is so relaxing with a chill in the air. Two gray kittens ran by. Oops, white kittens who are apparently are part of chimney sweep crew. 😉

I’m going to enjoy my coffee before brekkie-aahhh. This is the life

    (Thanks Joan!)

Morning all! …. had a nice sleep late day, looks like the weather is past us, all paws crossed for up EC’s way …. our friend made it back home to Palm Beach, thankfully no damage, just a lot of yard work!
Miss Caddy is doing well, she’s all settled in, loving her new home, and comfortable enough to sleep most of the day away on her new cat perch that Mr. AV and handy Scottie built her under the awning of the golf studio …. she can see all that goes on, yet can safely ‘scoot’ into her safe haven in 2 seconds if she gets spooked …. she loves it!

What a beautiful fall day here today!! Wow, only a high of 64….ahhhhh! Sunny, windy, windows are open for the cats to sniff air and birdies.
Thanks for the wonderful cafe today JJ!! I can’t make a decision, even though it’s brunch time here, coffee for starters like PG–nothing is better than mornings with coffee and cats!!
    ECB hope you are safe!!

We’re fine. No power, but we recharged our phones with extra battery packs. And we may have figured out a way to charge them in the car. About half the city is without power.

I’ll have to throw away $50 or more worth of food in the fridge. But thankful things weren’t worse of course…considering all that could have been lost. We haven’t opened the freezer and are hoping the power comes back in time to save that stuff. That’s where the cat food is! We have canned for them for a few days. I’ll order more with two day shipping if needed.

We’ve broken out the scattergories and catch phrase…lots of family fun. Poor hubby can barely sleep without his c- pap though. Poor guy.

We may venture out to the grocery store later to see if there’s anything more appealing than graham crackers with peanut butter for dinner…those are good though!

Thanks for all your positive vibes and prayers!

EC, glad you checked in! …. hopefully power will be restored soon, and your freezer items can be salvaged! …. Yesterday, I watched a train of power trucks & emergency vehicles leave from Downtown headed north, probably your way …. ‘help is on the way dear’ (in best Mrs. Doubtfire voice)

it could have really been SO much worse! thankfully it stayed just off the coast in south Fla. my friend was able to return to his retirement mobile home park with no damage, just yard clean up …. he was very happy – and oh yeah, he’s 91 to boot! ….. walks 3 miles every morning (rain or shine) at o’dark thrity, eats blueberries like they’re going out of style, and has one stiff bourbon at 5 o’clock every day! ….. still drives cross country to visit his kids in Cali and is sharp as a tack! …. loves his internet blogs and the penny slots at the casino where he lives ….. he is a wonder! LOL …. he was Mr. AVs dad’s very good friend and is like family to us …. many times he will come to spend a holiday with us cause his kids live so far away …. we love Bob!

Thanks for checking in AV and ECB. I’m glad Matthew decided to turn away from the coast ever so slighty.

It’s difficult to get a pic of a black cat but when is Miss Caddy going to be DK?

We went and saw “Birth of a Nation.” Excellent writing and performances.
It’s nothing like the 1920 film of the same name.

Tks for checking in ECB. Glad that you escaped wrath of Matthew relatively unscathed.
Poured here all day, which I was glad for too as sound of rain makes sleep more conducive Chillier (Fall-like) temps on horizon, then purrhaps back to a bit of warmth early week. For me this bodes sweater weather and is a good thing. I mean I did not knit sweaters for them to nap in closet. LOL.

Good evening!! I have been watching a lot of You Tube videos of various subjects, mostly food related. 🙂 Anyway, just came across this cute 93 year old lady, Clara, cooking “depression meals” and thought of a few of you with the old coffee pots. Thought you may get a KICK out of watching this. 🙂
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Sorry for those without power, and or hurricane damage. You are all in my thoughts… Will catch up on threads later. Love to all!!!

    Crossover pic –

Good afternoon all. The lounge is looking great JJ, all spruced up. I really need the Chimney sweep kitties here as I can hear sparrows in the top of the chimney building a nest.
I’ll have a coffee and donut while I decide what I am going to make for dinner.

Good to hear you are all ok EC. Hope your power is on soon. Oh yay it is.
AV, glad you friend returned to no serious damage.
    Hi KJ and BB.
PG, love that vid on Moms.
We had a relatively dry morning and with Mr MS’s help we got the tomatoes planted in new tomato mix soil and plastic cloches over them for protection from the winds and at times lower temps. Also got my butter yellow petunias and also blue petunias into the wooden planters.

Glad all have weathered the storm and power has been restored. When power went out during superstorm sandy, we didn’t open the freezer for 48 hours, and when we did, everything that could be cooked on the grill was cooked and things like pierogis and veggies were cooked on the woodburner. We brought a bunch of it to our elderly neighbors (the excuse for checking on them without them feeling like we were checking on them). Most perishables in the fridge I had already prepped to transfer to a cooler (pre-made sandwiches, transfer of milk to small water bottles, etc). I also made lots of ice packs ahead of time to keep stuff cold. Of course, a few things were lost despite my Girl Scout efforts.
Cloudy but nice day here in Jersey. We’re getting the very outer edges of rain bands late tonight and tomorrow. You got some nice sleeping weather, KJ.
I’m so glad Caddy is settling in! Glad your friend’s place fared okay, AV. Wow, what an active 91 year old!
Hi BB! I find some depression-era recipes still quite useful today, and with a modern spin, can be quite cost effective.
Oh PG, that vid is adorable! Made me choke up a bit too, I love incredibly sweet stuff like that.
Oooh, tomato planting time! I enjoy hearing about your garden, MS. Seems to help make my not so favorite season a bit more bearable. (Well, I’m okay with Fall, but that leads to you-know-what!)
Watched an episode of the original Star Trek series tonight. It’s called Assignment: Earth. Teri Garr is in it as well as a black cat! The scene with Spock holding the cat is adorable! Oh and Leela caught a glimpse of it and she wants a sparkly collar like the pretty cat on tv has! *sigh*

Happy Sunday morning all! …. Miss Leela deserves a sparkly collar – it’s a Diva’s due!
Caddy (also all black) has been very good wearing her collar – it’s bright red and has her name and my phone # printed on it ….. she doesn’t seem to mind it at all. Abby has worn her very sparkly collar for 10+ years …. she wears it proudly like a diamond necklace, and I actually think she feels ‘neckked’ without it! LOL
Today my main chore is baking my dark chocolate brownies for nieces’ 12th birthday later today ….. she requested them instead of a cake …. have a great day all!

PG, “Who’s our Mother” is beyond adorable!!! Of course Dorry watched it and now maintains that he wants to trade me in for whoever the video kit’s Mom is. *Sigh*
For sure, I’m sorta happy that today my “look” can easily include knit sweater and leather jacket. That said, I do like warmth. So we’ll see whether I’m singing this same song when “you know what” makes it’s presence known, when there’s snow up to there, ice so that I can’t speed walk and minus $*&))!! with wind chill factor! *Sigh*

    Happy Sunday All,

I wish I could get a kit on the ceiling fan to clean them off. 😆 Dorry is messing with your head because he can, KJ.

    Random images for Sunday

My friend weathered the hurricane with no serious damage. They lost power and it’s still flickering on and off. Now begins the clean up. It’s a relief all the peeps I know are well.

Steelers baby! It time for football-Cya!

I made buckwheat galettes (savoury crêpes) this morning. They are very good and easy once you’ve got the hang of it, but do they ever take a long time! Well, I have a dozen of them (not very large); they are very nice stuffed (like blintzes).

We have friends in Cuba who are fine; unfortunately the same can’t be said about people in Haïti. There are many people of Haïtian descent here in Mtl, and they are organising charity drives to help the survivors, most of whom have lost what little they had. I suppose the hard rain we got yesterday was the tail-end of Matthew.

Some of us in my neighbourhood are dealing with the plague of clothes moths: I have a new merino pullover and it has lived in a new ziplock bag in my freezer compartment since I bought it; this will soon end and I’m very worried about it. A couple of years ago I lost a beautiful grey loden overcoat to the little nasties. I thought they were all gone but have seen a couple. Any ideas about anything effective that is not toxic to people with respiratory problems (me – dad was a chain-smoker) or tiny cats (Livia)? Of course I’ve washed everything.

Pretty soon I’ll be wearing leather gloves on the bicycle…
