    Morning AV *waving*
The café looks great, I think I’ll lounge by the water with a glass of pineapple juice and a spinach/feta omelet. I’m a bit apprehensive about having brekkie in my backyard as I don’t know if the bear has wandered thru yet.
Will probably go to the ‘Grande Market’ later. One of the vendors has an incredible assortment of apples. And of course, I’ll hang out at the shelter tent with sister.

Hi Joan and Av! Cloudy here and cool but it’s lovely. I will join you in the café with coffee and an omelet. I got a new phone the other day and a tablet came with it (how cool is that) and I am struggling through the touch screen and auto correct….gotta get my day started so later all!

Lol! KZ it took me awhile to get used to my tablet too! Time for me to get started too, my first job being to paint my yard tiki statue …..

Oooh, pizza and game night sounds like fun!
I’ve never used a tablet. I guess like anything else it takes some getting used to.
Hope Leela can shake her cold. Keeping a close eye on her and making sure she stays hydrated.

I love electronic devices 😎 I will say that this one is much easier and the touch keyboard better to type on than my bigger Kindle. They are both great devices but verydifferent in what they do best. Joan I think you would love a tablet. Mr. Oz thinks I have too many computer devices and I say you can’t have too many. Like his guns, they all do the same thing just in a different way….. 😛

Tks AV for a brekkie 24/7 Café – works for me as having slept all day just made me coddled egg/melted cheese/jam on rich braided roll – with latte or course, very protein-acious and works any time of day or night.
I like devices, although my ‘puter is outdated – seems that as soon as I upgrade, my upgrade gets outmoded so I’m going the “works for what I need it to do and if it ain’t broke route.”
Ideally Miss Leela and KJ will completely shake their respective colds at same time as soon! ‘Cause tomorrow I want to initiate new DIY. Now that I have srsly powerful drill I was able to install shelving (tr more organized space for lots o’ boots) above reg shelf in entry closet. Plan is to get 3 pces of custom cut white melamine and install shelving below closet rod in bdrm closet, where I am actually doing quite well with unit holding found drawers. Want more of a walk-in open effect. And now that I discovered that n’hood hardware store has lumber and advice, well why not. How I’m going to get stuff home as pieces will be 56 x 20 inches is Part B quandry. Hopefully taxi driver will be amenable as cannot see myself carrying the stuff on the subway!
Part C is need to get to bed early tonite as tomorrow is spin class, if I feel up to it hardware store, and hair trim as stylist is open every other Sunday. More holidays as Mon/Tues so this is the plan.

Good evening – hope everyone has had a good day. Maybe with my next phone upgrade I can get a tablet, that would be cool. My ‘puter makes me crazy sometimes, and I prefer using my Kindle for reading…and playing solitaire!
Hope you continue to feel better, KJ, and have fun with latest DIY tomorrow!
Comet started sneezing today, but being the sensitive little brother, maybe it’s sympathy sneezes? At any rate, everyone gets l-lysine! So far, the FIV+ tabby hasn’t displayed any sign of illness. Mac has a chronic weepy eye, but I can’t get at him with a wipe unless he’s sound asleep. I can usually catch Leela though – she has the same thing.
Had a nice afternoon at ‘The Grande Market’. Another 2 weeks outside then it moves indoors at the garden center. There were more food vendors this week, and sister, niece and I treated ourselves to ice cream. Bought a pretty necklace from a ‘Vivi’ rep. I don’t really need more jewelry but I couldn’t resist any more than I could resist buying a new handbag from a 31 rep last week. The corn is still pretty good; we had that for dinner. There were pumpkins and mums there but I’m not quite ready to embrace fall!

Love my Kindle for reading too Joan, and playing a couple of goofy games occasionally. But this smaller tablet is easier for me to type on as it fits between my two hands easier, and I can use my thumbs like on my phone, PLUS it has a more user friendly keyboard that I don’t have to keep switching between screens just to use numbers (whose idea was THAT in the first place!)
Well, I haven’t got my pumpkins yet, but I do have mums and they are gorgeous! Tomorrow I need to mess around in the garden and see if there are any tomatoes and peppers that can be salvaged. I need to dig up my onions, and generally just do a clean up. It has been so dry here, that the onions will be fine. I haven’t given my garden the attention it needs and time is slipping away towards weather that won’t be good for working in the dirt.

It’s been pretty dry here too, drought warnings are starting to pop up. Though people really should have been conserving about 2 months ago when we started noticing all the pretty sunny summer days with no rainy days in between. We have wells here, so you can bet I’ll yell at a neighbor who waters too much. Fortunately, around here not many people pay much attention to their crunchy lawns, the focus is more on plants and gardens. I washed my car in the spring when I started driving it (I drive a sensible-for-the-snow/ice truck in the winter) and I think hubby washed it once.
The tomatoes are pretty much finished here, and I have to think about preparing the strawberry patch for winter. Will plant some bulbs soon, and hope the squirrels don’t dig them back up!

Hi everyone – hope you all are having a good Sunday. It was pretty chilly here early this morning but temps are in the mid 60s now. Comet had a restful nap, and now he’s being quite rambunctious – pawing at the freshly cleaned and replenished food and water bowls, to the point where I picked them up because the water is sloshing onto the floor and he’ll eventually upturn the crunchies bowl. He almost pounced on Leela but I gave her the heads up and she ran away growling before he could get to her. Mama ruins all the fun!

Afternoon Joan! ….. A very hot day here! Mr. AV and I changed all the girls boxes today! Ick! But had to be done ….. Now resting and watching some shows …. Going to make a recipe for ‘White Castle’ burgers in the oven …. You press the meat into a sheet pan , then bake and cut into squares ….. Using Hawaiian rolls for the buns ….. Finish with cheese and a pickle! ….. I’ll let you know how they turn out!
Abby and Venus got into a hissing match, early this morning, but everyone is at a napping truce right now ….. Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday!

Hi AV – the burgers sound good! The nearest White Castle is about an hour away I think, though the last time I had them was from the supermarket when I had a coupon.
    I’m making lasagna for dinner.
Glad the girls are napping off their hissy fits. Leela is enjoying a puddle of sunshine.

    Hi all!!
I worked this morning, picked up a few things at the store, came home and got on here to check email, Facebook, etc. warmed up leftover mashed potatoes and peas, then washed the dishes. There was some sun here too and the cats enjoyed it. I’ve been keeping an eye on the hummie feeder to see if they are still around. Had four deer in the yard this morning too, but they ate and moved on pretty quickly. More leaves are changing colors too. Hope the sky is clear for the eclipse tonight!
JJ, I LOVE that you spend time with your sister on weekends at the shelter tent, and get to buy goodies from the farmers there. Did you get apples? What kind? There are tons of potatoes around here now as it was a perfect potato season this year! Only 99 cents a bag at the local grocery store and they are beautiful too! I plan to get some apples at the farm this week. Sorry your babies are sneezing.. People around here are sneezing too! Even me, once in awhile… LOL
AV….how fun that Dau is staying with the kids and you had a pizza/game night!!! Awesome!!!! The burgers sound yum especially on those Hawaiian rolls!
KJ, glad you had a good rest and hope that cold goes away quickly for you. How cool that you are enjoying so many DIY projects. I admire you for trying so many new things. 🙂
KZ.. How wonderful to have a new phone and new tablet to enjoy! A good challenge!
Since it has been cooler here, I folded my dau’s old sleeping blanket down and made a little nest with it. The top leans on a pillow, so it is a bit deep and the cats are loving sleeping inside there. They take turns as they don’t like each other much. Gavin is just way too jealous of Chad and stares whenever I give Chad lots of attention. I did catch them both sleeping in there together once, barely touching end hairs… LOL The sleeping bag is covered with a polyester type of material and is really warm. Cute! So glad they like it. One thing about pets, they seem to appreciate everything we do for them….. Bless their hearts. 🙂

Paws up ! Waving to you all.
Wheeeeeeeee omelettes every way and cinnabuns, the perfect breakfast for a weekend. Cafe looks fantastic AV.
It’s monday here and after a stunning beautiful weekend weather and it now being school holidays we have rain forecast with hail and thunder storms. Typical. HRH is lurking somewhere on the property but is not happy as a tom cat has been through overnight and left it’s fetid calling card around the front porch. That meant a good scrubbing down there this morning. 🙁 The smell is stressing HRH Shadz and she now has a stress runny eye.
I spent the weekend at our local cherry blossom festival admiring the trees and classic and hot rod cars and checking out the stalls. Then back home for gardening, with Spring here and warmer weather(off & on) it’s time to prepare the gardens for planting. Growing chillis and banana peppers inside for now and trying to get tomatoes to germinate.
JJ, I wish that bear would call out on it’s way through your yard so you knew if it had been or not. It’s the least it can do for free access.
KZ, you will get there with practise with the touchscreen and autocorrect and then wonder why you didn’t change sooner.
KJ and Leela I hope your colds get better quickly.
More DIY KJ, you are loving that drill.
KZ, you are I are definitely at opposite ends of the gardening job spectrum. I have enjoyed reading about your gardening posts while I wasn’t really able to do any myself because of the cold. We have been dry through Winter too and hope that we can get some good rain before the hot Summer days arrive or we could be in for yet another drought.
    Comet ! Leave Leela alone.
AV, those burgers sound good and an interesting way of doing them.
BB, hope our potato growing season is as good as yours. Helped daughter to plant her potatoes in stacking boxes she made from pallets along with an upright strawberry tower.
Lunch time here so off to check out the pantry, I feel soup my be happening as the day is now getting nippy.
Oh, we have just sprung forward to Daylight Saving so Shadz is all confused when it comes to meal times.

Hi BB – the apple lady wasn’t there, sigh. However, local food markets here usually sell locally grown stuff so I may stop at a place on the highway. Your sleeping bag nest sounds really cozy, with the cats taking turns, of course. It’s funny that you caught them sleeping oh so close – if they knew you were watching they would have moved immediately!
Enjoy the holidays, KJ! Hope your cold is easing up.
MS, the cherry blossom festival and car show sounds like a lot of fun! The only downside is the pollen that falls after the blooms peak. I bet the cars were awesome! Looking forward to hearing about your garden and what you’re growing. Daughter’s strawberry tower sounds intriguing. Oh it’s so fun when the cats get messed up by the time change! Poor Shadz, she just doesn’t understand. The time change here is the first Sunday in November.
Had to tweak my lasagna. The ricotta smelled funny so I made a veggie since I had already cooked the pasta. Interestingly, the ricotta tasted ok, but I couldn’t get past it smelling a bit ‘off’ and felt it better to be safe than wind up with cramps or worse. The improvised lasagna came out pretty good!

JJ, no apples ! I bet your taste buds were looking forward to them too.
I often find that a recipe that has had to be tweaked is far better than the original.
Just been up the street and the cherry blossom that was so beautiful on the weekend is just starting to fall.
Front porch smells so much better after scrubbing and sunshine, HRH is happy too.
