Definitely me this cool Autumn Sunday evening. It was Mother’s Day here today and I had to wait for breakfast until Brunch as Mr MS was helping his brother fell a dead tree(firewood), Airy rang and I opened her present to me. A Maneki Neko with two kitties and they sit on a drum with a solar panel and rock back and forth. Cute. Then Mr MS returned home and it was brunch time. Later he took me for a Mother’s Day outing to a car wreckers yard. Now don’t gasp as I thoroughly enjoy wandering through the yard looking for parts and removing them. We then installed the parts in his work utility, It was fun. This afternoon I visited Mum and took her a present and had afternoon tea with her and got firewood in etc.

I’m glad you enjoyed your outing to the car wreaking site. Some of the coolest stuff can be found and if you need a body part, it’s probably there.

    Good morning – I hope I don’t see anyone from school…
Nice prezzie, MS. Sounds like a nice mom’s day for you! I’ve gone to yards with hubby to look for parts, it’s been a long time though.
The sun is out and it seems we all survived the nor’easter. Aslan had a fun afternoon playing in the living room while the rain came down and the wood burner kept us warm. He particularly enjoyed playing with/harassing Uncle Mac.

Wow, it is a BEAUTIFUL sunny and warm day here. We celebrated Mother’s Day last evening, and today will go to sis’s house to celebrate her birthday today and there may even be some adult bevvies involved!

Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful, laid back day!

Has anyone figured out “the chair silently judging?”

PG….I think it’s the black cat who is sitting in the chair staring. It’s like the chair has eyes….

Well, typical of the peacemaking pattern they follow, Eko and Leo who are the ones who actually had the altercation, are now snuggled up together napping. Emily, who was not involved, has to be kept separate from Eko. She’s fine with Leo (as usual). In her defense, I think she is terrified of Eko because of that smell of fear. Her eyes get huge when she sees him and there’s a real danger of her charging at him…which will get Leo involved and mad at Eko again. It’s so ironic because Eko and Emily would have no problem ever if Leo never attacked Eko. And Eko and Leo would have fewer problems without the Emily dynamic…crazy.

I decided not to try the vanilla trick in case it complicated things. And Emily is not “fiddled with” easily. Good luck catching her if she knows you want to do something to her..lol. Anyways, the smell of Eko set her off after their first encounter after the fight. Now it’s just the sight of Eko.

I’ve been reading up on reviews of various cat calming products…too hit and miss and too expensive to try right now. I do use an off brand of the calming spray. It’s very affordable and does help some, though it’s not a cure all.

Oh and supposedly…knock on wood…they are coming to do our kitchen this week. Oh well, may as well do it while the cats are in upheaval anyways. Maybe Emily will forget why she was mad. :).

Actually, meow in French is “miaou”. But of course francophone cats also say mau, mrrrou and many other expressions. W is not a longstanding letter in modern French, though some northern and eastern French dialects (as well as Belgian ones) have used it for a long time. It is more typically used for words with English, German, Flemish/Dutch and more remote origins. Obviously used in Wallon, and words and proper names from northern France and Belgium.

But cats don’t care about how humans write, and only rarely about how they speak. They speak cat, and write by marking their territory (not only with urine, also with their claws etc).

PG, it’s a pair of Basement Cats in the chair, yes?

    Dorry understands English.

Yea, It’s a black cat sitting in the chair. The way the kit is sitting you can barely make out the eyes.

I expect we’ve all learned that cats answer or not to whatever. Can you imagine the ‘tude of Dorian Gray, Esq. if he spoke French? Juste ciel!

Oh ECB, I do hope the kitchen project helps Emily forget why she is mad. Cat dynamics are weird and make no sense sometimes.
Had a nice dinner of pulled pork & Pierogies at mom’s today. Tyler had strawberry yogurt. 🙂

    Good afternoon all from Monday.
The day began rather nippy but has slowly improved to now being full sun.
I discovered one of my buttercup pumpkins had developed a bad spot so it has now become Thai pumpkin soup with coconut milk. I made it in the slowcooker and there is the most delicious aroma wafting around the kitchen.
PG you had me chuckling at “The blankets have accepted me as one…” Sounds so cozy. On the ‘chair silently judging’ pic, if you look carefully there is two sets of eyes sitting on the chair, very excellently disguised against the black of the chair.
ECB, typical of cats, fighting one moment and then best of friends the next.
Lagatta, HRH Shadz has written with her claws on the edge of the outside wooden steps and clawed away quite a chunk. She thinks we put the steps there just for use.

Two sets of eyes judging, always, judging…in the Twilight Zone!

I agree ECB-they’re already upset so you might as well get the construction done.

You made good use of the pumpkin, MS.

PG, with the extremely wet Autumn we have had and flooding the price and availability of vegetables has sky rocketed.
$7 for a lettuce or cauliflower
$4-5 for a small head of broccoli and leafy greens just not available there was no way I was going to let a pumpkin rot. At least they are cheap enough at $2 each. It is even difficult to find vegetable seedlings because of the wet weather we had.
I am hoping the seedlings I have planted get a good amount of growth in before the really cold weather arrives.
I will be freezing the soup in flat packs so I can quickly heat it for Mr MS to take to work in a thermos now that her works out in the open on farms.

$7 for a lettuce? Is it trimmed in gold leaf? Wow! Not fun veggie shopping I gather.
