Good morning. The cafe has some fall flavors today. Pumpkin goodies and lattes, pomegranate seeds (all the labor of getting the seeds out done by staff kits), apple cider and apple pie. Lots of warm soups for savory treats too. Come in and relax.

Morning ECB, thank you for opening the weekend café 🙂

Just in case anyone missed this video, it is entertaining to watch.

Good morning ECB – rainy day here, though I will have to get my act together at some point. I’ve done not much at home all week except sleep, shower and take care of the cats. Been down the valley at my mom’s hanging out with my visiting sister. Today my brother is coming up from Maryland, so tonight all five of us kids will be at the dinner table.
Think I’ll relax in the lounge for a while first.

Mmm, sipping on a pumpkin shake I made for breakfast (breakfast and dinner are liquid on my cleanse, lunch and snack are solid…but the liquid meals are very hearty and full of nutrition.) The shake turned out pretty good, think I’d use less ginger next time. I have an iffy relationship with fresh ginger…can never decide if I love it or hate it. I thought it sounded good for the shake, but I might leave it out next time. This is my first time doing the cleanse with a vitamix…wonderful machine. Made do with a regular blender the first time, but it died from overuse so we got the cheapest Ninja to hold us over because my mom had mentioned getting us a vitamix for Christmas. Anyways, the vitamix is great for morning shakes, which we have come to enjoy frequently for breakfast even when we aren’t doing a cleanse.
    ETA…hi Joan and Deb!
Lots of cleaning, shopping, and cooking to do today. Hope to watch some football too. Hope everyone has a peaceful Saturday.

Morning Joan, nice to visit with family 🙂

I love pictures of pumpkins all decorated and such, but really only like pumpkin pie and not much else made with it.

That cleanse really sounds interesting. Not a fan of pumpkin either except for decorating, but that shake sounds refreshing and a great way to start the day!

Good morning everyone! It’s sooo gooood to be here! I slept in, cleaned the cat boxes (using a new litter in one) and hoping to switch to it if it doesn’t track, doesn’t make the house stink, and I’m not allergic to it!! Need to pay bills today, and get caught up on things that I can’t do when taking care of a two month old infant! My daughter doesn’t have to work Monday, so I get THREE days to myself (or sort of, a farmer’s wife doesn’t really have time to herself…) 😆
Am concerned as to people mentioning how quiet it has been here lately, but most of us are busy and some with full time jobs, families, husbands that take our time away from TDK. This is a refuge for many and is one for me, I hope TDK is here forever!! I would miss everyone and the staff kits who prepare our goodies and take us away from the stress of the everyday.
Will check on you all later. Enjoy your Caturday, kiss your cats and hug them extra!

Good Morning all! …. happy Caturday! ….. I too managed to sleep in today, and look forward to not having any pressing agenda 🙂

…. looking thru my recipe books this morning, need to find something to take to Brother’s tonite for dinner …… those ‘spider’ deviled eggs keep coming back to mind, may have to make those ….

    Hi everyone,
I feel like I should say ‘good morning’ as I just woke up but, in fact, it is late afternoon and someone has been napping. I love the Halloween annex over the way. We don’t really do Halloween in the UK but it’s is starting to ‘creep’ in in places. I like pumpkin soup but can’t remember having pie.
I have been watching some BBC Catwatch programmes that are part of a study into domestic cat behaviour. V v interesting. One cat was hunting in local woods and was mimicking bird calls – extraordinary. Well worth a look if you can find the programmes or maybe you have something similar your way? There is a focus on 3 groups of cats, one in a town, one in a village and one group of farm cats (working for a living). The farm cats (semi feral) are fascinating.
In other news, I am grandson watching tonight and otherwise lazing around- rather pleasant really:)

Hi there KZ, enjoy those 3 days. TDK is awesome for me too – I love coming here, and enjoy the people and atmosphere.
Those spider eggs are a hoot, AV, I’m thinking of making them if we go to a Halloween thing.
That program sounds interesting, Judith. Enjoy grandma time!
I’m hanging out at mom’s kitchen table – all 5 of us “kids” are here!

Big tks Joan for opening Thurs and Fri Cafés!!! Anyone who wishes to can have the same “privilege/opportunity” next week as my holidays are Thurs/Fri and then no days off (‘cept Caturday) ’til sometime in Spring!
ECB beautiful fall-full Weekend Lounge. Here, it’s ideal weather for piping hot pumpkin soup, if staff kitties will oblige as this one does not cook to any extent.
Catching up a bit and JK – those boiled eggs – so simple and yet so creative. Must plan to try them out!

Speaking of Fall, not furniture, but went on serious “speed” walk and discovered lady putting out this centrepiece, purrfect condition, no room for it as she is renovating, she even found me a bag for it. Not real but looks it and hard to see, but there are all sorts of fall-esque foliage within, ie acorns, pine cones … so goes with seasonal decor!

Just noted that “Show me What’s Happening” has been edited to “Recent Activity” – much clearer – tks KM!

My two cents on “where is everyone”. For the record, I love it here, as KZ and most of us have mentioned. Peeps are always going to be at different places in their life, work, etc. and this is going to have an effect on participation. I love that peeps from all over the world and totally different lives/lifestyles have virtually come together to create a place that while each of us might have a vision of what the Café looks like, all are welcome. Just to step out of daily life and chat about any and everything is a blessing.

I have been a regular for about a year now, Facebook is not a social media that I am comfortable with, and I like being here (think that point got across!)

    Hi ECB *waves*
Would love to stick around a bit but must get something to eat and a latte as have slept for most of day. So purrhaps L8R or tomorrow in this wonderful Fall Café, this being my fave season!

Hi KJ! I have missed you–hope you relaxed during your holiday! LOVE the centerpiece, it is very woodsy and natural looking, which I love. I would have a hard time keeping Willow out of the middle of it.
Joan, I hope you are enjoying your family reunion of sorts! I loved the spider eggs too, and need to remember that next time I make eggs!
I got a lot done today, now it’s time for fuzzy pants and the first new edition of My Cat from Hell!!

    Hi KZ *waves*,

    Missed all of you!

I was a tad apprehensive as centrepiece vs Dorry, but he does OK with my other “realistic” foliage/flowers and does not go on table so might not realize all the interesting “finds” within it. If he gets too curious one of them will unfortunately have to go – and it won’t be Dorry! LOL
Must now as mentioned eat something ere I pass out, and see what delights my TV’s PVR recordings will provide.

Hi KJ – welcome back, hope you had a nice holiday. Just got home, cats are fed and I’m lounging on the couch. Funny how a day of hanging out can actually wear one out! I’ve also been awake since sparrow fart because Leela barfed.

Hi all, mid Sunday afternoon here and the first time today I’ve had to myself.
Daughter and son in law came around for breakfast on the balcony, it was so sunny and warm we had to put the umbrella up over the table. After that we went back to their place to help them assemble a small galvanised iron shed they had bought recently. They had the flooring all in place so we just had to put the many pieces back together and screw it all in place and then walk the shed onto the floor and fasten it down. It went very well until we went to put the doors on and the pile of firewood was in the way so we had to stack the wood in the shed. Personally I think they planned it that way. They’re happy that’s it all up and looking rather nice in the back yard. Daughter believes that before the end of the week their cats will have discovered how to get on the roof where it will be great to sun themselves. Next job is to attach a trellis and grow sweetpeas up it to soften the look of the shed.
Joan, please say Hi to Jroc from me. Have the two of you got up to mischief yet? 😉
Oh, we were about to begin breakfast and HRH was nice enough to yak on the balcony steps, just grass and saliva thankfully.
Mmmmmm pumpkins, the first of the new seasons pumpkins are in the shops here and I am sowing seeds today for my pumpkin patch or should I say my buttercup patch. Also sowing zucchini seeds and also radishes and carrot. Roll on gardening weather but with some rain too.
Judith, fascinating that the cats were mimicking bird calls. Sneaky too.
KJ another good score – again. 🙂
Off to sow seeds for Summer eating.

Hi MS – what a lovely day out on the deck. Glad you got the shed assembled and yes it sounds like something Shadz would like to sun herself on.
Jroc will be leaving tomorrow afternoon – it’s been a great time. Brother will head back to Maryland in the morning. We ere not able to pull off a childish prank – due to extenuating circumstances, so we got manicures instead!

Love reading the Café thread today, nothing but smiles and that is a good thing.

Everyone has been busy or so it seems, I have been lucky to pick up the mesquite tree bean pods that I raked up a week ago 🙂

I am working very hard on keeping my mouth shut right now, the new guy is working tonight and he is lazy as can be, actually I am surprised that he is still awake. Can’t remember ever being in a new job and being that lazy and then having the audacity to sleep even….heck I don’t sleep at work now 🙁

    Morning (middle of night) Deb,
I commend you on your fortitude. If I’m understanding correctly your place seems to have “total ineptitude and lack of motivation” as a job requirement for new hires. I would have extreme difficulty not saying anything. Then again I was in another not-fun place as corporate world for quite some years and saw it all (or too much of it). Not a pretty sight. Hope that your shift is over soon and that you make it through. At least when Café staff falls asleep on jobs it’s expected as they’re kits.
