Café kits are preparing a wonderful weekend for all Moms. What a purrfect way to pass the weekend – sitting back and enjoying the smorgasbord of food, drink and entertainment. Our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are gathering around the fireplace with coffee and hot chocolate while the Northern Hemisphere friends are on the patio, with lemonade and iced tea, just a short walk to the pool. Why? TDK moms are going to share their anecdotes about the children and grandchildren…hoomin and furry! Gather close all and listen…

We have had a wonderful evening and dinner out with 12 Aunts and cousins. So much fun when we get together when relatives visit and precious when you realise how much older we all are getting.

I was out all afternoon so Comet came to TDK land to visit with friends and gather around the table of kits making meowmy-day cards. I can’t see what he made till tomorrow, around 3am sounds about right!
Tomorrow is a big day for the outdoor JJ crew. Mama Cat’s b-day is mother’s day (date changes every year) and her offspring have their b-day on May 13, which is my late neighbor’s b-day. If they are the kittens I’m thinking of, they are about 7. Mama Cat is not much older. I was happy to see her today, as she doesn’t come around every day like the others.
Leela, like me, did not have babies, and she’s purrfectly happy with that!

So that’s where Dorry meandered off to!

Don’t believe anything that Dorry says about moi! Actually he sees me more as a “connfidante” than as a Meowmy. Goes better with our respective purrsonalities! He probably enjoyed making cards though – some which might be PG-rated! 😉

Last pic takes caption from song by rapper “Drake” – gets a bit unfluffy wordwise (explicit) so vid will not be posted! Now I love gangsta – so no probs! 😎

In case warm weather creeps up on us I’ve started the closet turnover. All my light polos and T’s are getting freshened up in laundry. Much folding to do after, but I enjoy this!

Got some help at Knitting Circle with latest summer sweater endeavour. And yarn company purrson also emailed me some pointers. More complicated than I’m used to and I had to do over some rows several times. Note to self: do not attempt this project at 2 am *sigh*. Think/hope that I am up to the challenge!

    Good evening all,
    Happy Mother’s Day.
We were treated to breakfast cooked by Meegz and SIL and ate it while watching ‘My Cat from Hell’. They brought me a beautiful wooden jewelery box that is a puzzle back from Hawaii for my Mother’s Day present. Airy was a total sweetie and sent me a flash new rain umbrella and lovingly filled it with bits of paper from the office hole punches so when I opened it I got a ‘shower’. 😆 I love my girls humour.
I remember when Lady Valkyrie a TDKer sent everyone Christmas cards loaded with tiny tinsel bits and when we opened our cards ‘PHLOOF’ shiny bits everywhere.
Then in the afternoon oldest brother, sister in law and I took Mum out for afternoon tea at (what else) a garden centre. I gave Mum a box of kindling,a box of pinecones for firelighting and a bar of superb chocolate. At her age she doesn’t want anything that isn’t disposable and what helps her helps me in the long run.
My neighbours cat Tinker paid us a visit today and played with Mr MS and all over his truck, They both had fun. The day was wet for most of it but the temps were in the early 20’sC. Very hot for only a few weeks from Winter.
Wow JJ that is a big day for the outdoor crew, Happy Birthday Mama cat and her offspring and also a heavenly happy birthday for Roberta.
KJ, with your determination of course you are up the challenge but the wee small hours of the morning are best to be avoided for knitting this particular garment. Definitely the cold or warm light of day when you are in a good head space.

What a fun Mother’s Day, MS – love your umbrella shower!

Leela likes to tell her story of finding her mama. Her earliest memory is being cold and wet and alone till a boy found her. Then she was warm and dry but felt very sick. A lady helped her to feel better, but then she found herself in a safe place but the other cats there were just as frightened as she. Then a lady came and took her away. Though she was still frightened, the lady let her explore a comfortable new place. She learned about a place called “home” and the lady called “mama.”
    They lived happily ever after!

Happy Birthday to Mama Cat (Mother’s Day) and Berta, Star, Huey and Dewey (May 13)!

Livia hasn’t got a birthday… She was about 2 when I adopted her, so I can’t estimate when she was born. Not that it matters to her.

Got a sweet card from Dau and SIL, and a text from Jersulem (Son) …. the fam is coming over soon …. I’m not cooking (they’re all bringing something) … I just have the place where we can all gather ….. Caddy has kneaded me extra this moring, and Abby’s gift was a non-yakk day (so far) …. life is good …. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY ALL! HOOMAN AND FURRY!

I believe Livia’s birfday is the day she adopted you.

LilBit made the girls angry. They were gathering card making stuff (extra glitter) and he came rip snorting around and made a mess (and was covered in glitter).

All the pics are for a purrfect Moewmy’s Day!

What a wonderful family reunion, AV. Thanks to Abby and Caddy, too.

A Happy Mother’s Day to all my TDK friends and their fluffy kits!!

I have so many birfday stories with my kits and each one a different one…none of my kitties are related so they all have a separate story of birth and rescue. All were born on the farm though, and whether their mothers abandoned them, or I saved them from certain death by racoon, they have all been rescued from just a few days old. I think of each one of them as a furry little child with a unique personality. They all get along well even though every now and then they get into a tiff, usually started by one of the boys who oversteps himself. The girls really do act like little girls and the boys like little boys–a house full of rambunctious toddlers is what it’s like here most days. Then add a 3-1/2 year old hoomin toddler to the mix and sometimes it’s chaos!

Mr. KZ is in the final stretches of planting soy beans. It has been calling for rain for 2 days but we haven’t seen any. I know he is hoping to be done by tomorrow, but is tractor weary. Oldest dau brings me fresh eggs so I made egg salad. Later this evening we will have that and some tea and put our feet up and relax. I have been trying to work in my flowerbeds, but have to take frequent breaks from the bending. Got part of my vegetable garden planted, but I’m not in any hurry it’s still early for what I’m putting in. The garden centers are too busy on this weekend anyway.

Off to plant a pink hydrangea that youngest dau brought to me and clean my fish pond and talk to my fish!

PG, guess that LilBit is rockin’ Davd Bowie’s “Aladdin Sane Glitter” look? 😉 Poor guy is outnumbered by grrls! I feel for him (actually not!) Hehehe!

The pawsome shelter – shout out to “Cause4Paws” – where I discovered Dorry, featured him in an onsite pic “Venus and her kittens”. Naming his mama after Goddess of Beauty was spot on! At the time Dorry’s name was “Chi” and his noir bro was “Tai” (I know and me being so “Western-oriented” and all!) I’d wanted to adopt “Tai” but he did not take to me and Dorry did. As told previously a whole clowder of kits was brought to my place for me to choose one and as it turned out photo shoot! Dorry’s snuggling on my couch for a nap amidst all the “mayhem” prob indicated that he wanted to stay. I believe that the whole purry family found homes. In any case place is no-kill shelter where all kits are in foster homes, so that ‘cept on “adoption days” they never exp being caged, which I think is terrif!

Went to later spin class as in noon-ish as love the instructor who was subbing. Then as it’s getting warm washed all summer blouses and more re-organizing.

Then another cultural org which I’d volunteered to volunteer translate for got back to me with 2 easy projects which should keep me out of mischief for a bit!

After tomorrow’s DIY spin class going for hair trim. Doesn’t quite need it, but I was getting to thinking “should I go DIY route?” despite the bad jobs I’ve done in the past! So, yeah. Recommended stylist to gym cohort some time back and today she thanked me as he did fantastic job. She has super-fine stick-straight hair. Knitting Circle girl maintains that nothing can be done with her hair as it’s too fine. My stylist says that someone good can work with any type of hair and I so agree. Anyway I’m not going to argue the point.

Day would not be complete without:

Good afternoon from Monday. It’s been a damp grey day so far but now the sun is coming out. Yay.
AV, I too have a pile of TDK cards that I can’t bear to dispose of.
Woohoo, I hope the non yak day continues for you. That is a wonderful present from Abby and extra kneading from Caddy.
Lil’Bit you rip snorter, LOL.I am sure the girls will get over the fright.
Poor Mr KZ, he must have ‘tractor seat bottom’ by now. 😯 Ohhhh vege gardening, what have you been planting in the vege patch and the flower garden? My vege garden is now fully planted so it’s just maintenance and weeding left for me.We are still getting late Summer temps here and this year my Winter vegetables are growing so well and I still have zucchini flowering and fruiting. Pink hydrangea are pretty.
Lovely story about Dorry’s beginnings as Chi with brother Tai and Mama Venus.
Whitefoots was our first kitten as a wed couple and she and her sister Wild were kittens living under a feed shed on the sheep farm we were working on. Mr MS and I caught two of the kittens and they came to live on the hill overlooking the shearing shed with us. Sadly they both got cat flu and Wild didn’t survive but Whitefoots did and thrived. She had kittens of her own who also lived with us, Monty and Nicky. The three of them hunted for rabbits and grew up with our dog pack and stock horses. They loved to sit on the fence posts are the shepherds drove huge flocks of sheep past and sometimes would lean down and swipe at a sheep. All three moved house with us along with Smudge a dumped cat who adopted us. When we moved back to the city Whitefoots(the boys and Smudge had died through accidents) retired to my parents place and lived out her years until she was 18 years old being spoiled by Mum and Dad. She was our first couples kit and we have wonderful memories of her.

Love all the stories about how our fur babies came to be with us!
It’s late here and Comet is downstairs singing. He’s a few hours early, lately his concerts have been around 3am! He’s got a great voice, and he’s cute, so it’s purrfectly ok.
Comet came from Lancaster, PA, Amish country. He was born in a friend of hubby’s garage, hubby fell in love and brought him home.
I also have a box full of TDK cards, complete with LV’s glitter!

Wonderful stories – someone should write a book! Not moi at least not tonite – as the org that I have opted to vol for needed translations tonite! I did them, but politely let guy know that I need more of a head’s up. Not a big deal.
Nothing quite like a 3 am concert. Now I can basically rip my alarm out as Dorry feels that 6 am-ish is purrfect wake-up time, as he’s “famished”. And yes, I get up, feed him and then go back to bed.
I didn’t know that zucchinis flowered. Although my grandmother used to grow windowsill plants from potato ends or something like that. When it comes to fruits/veg I’m such a citified, supermarket grrl!
Don’t they have seat pads for tractors – like the ones I have for spin bike saddle? If not, they should.
I have used some of my TDK cards as pics in my home office unit. Others I’ve place in “Lucite” standing pic frames which I use as bookends.
Got a bit further in this nigh on impossible knitting project (think I’ve started the diff section – which is the start of majority of sweater at least 8 times!) and am holding myself back ere I end up pulling an all-nighter.
And on way home from gym saw an interesting white IKEA-style unit with adjustable shelves. Actually 2 there. If I take one I will replace something in my bdrm, I’m trying to subtract, not add. Anyway by tomorrow they might both be gone.
Stressed as can’t take action yet re srsly looking for new place, although those whose opinions I value strongly suggest that no matter outcome with this place, it is time for a change. Plus my guts were at odds with me earlier and I think that bed is the best plan.

I have to admit that I have re-used LV’s glitter in a similar manner on unsuspecting family and friends. 😳 😀 😆
Yes KJ, zucchinis do flower, in fact they have two types of flowers, male and female.

female on the left of each pic with wee zucchini forming and male on the right.
Ohhhhh a street find? So you think they will still be there for you to bring home?
Time to check out tomorrows Cafe.
