National Trail Mix Day lauds a high energy, tasty treat for the trail or snacks. It provides an extra energy boost to keep us from getting tired and running out of energy along the trail.

KJ is wholeheartedy with Grumpy Cat on this one!

Thanks for your input on my hairdresser KJ, from yesterday’s thread. I’d still welcome any one else’s input too, even if you think I’m being too sensitive. I agree KJ, she should have told me at some point that she obviously overbooked, but to charge me full price while an intern did all the work is just tacky. I’ve been doing my own hair and it looks good, but going to the salon is a treat (an expensive one) and I did not feel like a valued client. Oh well, I was looking for a salon when I found this one so….. 😐
LOVE the pics today, they’re adorable. I’ll take some M&M’s or trailmix or whatever!! 😆

KZ, that stinks about the hair dresser …. she should have told you up front …..
Well, the storm is upon us and getting closer ….. rain began early morning hours and hasn’t (and won’t) let up til Friday …. roads of course, saturated and flooding expected on Bayshore and the low lying inland roads (usual) …. I think I told you all before, that where I live, the streets slope down toward the Bay plus we’re on a 24″ crawl space, so my 109 year old house has never flooded …. tomorrow is expected to be the worst, when the storm passes closest and the winds/rain will be at their height …. possible tornados ….. we’re hunkered down – plenty of food, water, cat food and of course wine 😉

Looks like it will hit the Big Bend area worst, hope those of you up that way stay safe – EC, how close will it come to you?
Still on my WD marathon, got 1 1/2 seasons to go 🙂 …. nice way to spend a few rainy days cooped up ! Have a great day, all!

Keep safe AV! Scary. Yuri likes his half tsp of oatmeal a day and I swear it’s helping his chest congestion. That along with the fish oil and the occasional chamomile tea. No Kitty see, you ain’t bein sensitive. I had a therapist who asked me if it would be okay if a student sat in. I was? Flummoxed. How do I say no? Hands were tied. I don’t think the student got much outta the session but that’s the one who asked me why I think the locals are obsessed with me so I asked him why and he wouldn’t answer. Got a secret? He also appeared not to be from here but? I called to try to get a new therapist, found his home number and who should answer but his?? Mother! Photo of daughter on the desk? Where’s wife? But? That proves they will choose to go to university elsewhere. My therapist now is an old friend who’s Jewish like me and it’s easier. That way I can be free to speak w/out fear that I will be denied. You need medication? You should just take it. Etc etc. Heavy heavy denial no longer exists. Ya know? Get a new hairdresser.

Hi everyone! Of course I like the Cat Scouts as Scouting is in my blood. TDK agency kits have bowls of trail mix all around the café today, yum! That big Maine Coon kitty who knows me all too well presented me with a small bowl of M&M’s – thanks buddy!
Well KZ, I’m disappointed in your experience yesterday. Probably the only thing I would consider acceptable is having the intern rinse your hair out, but only after clearing it with you first, in confidence, out of earshot of anyone else. Brother and I were just discussing overbooking yesterday, in his case, a doctor’s office. I worked for a podiatrist for 15 years and we never overbooked. The closest we got was double booking two checkups, which usually take about five minutes. Even that backfired sometimes, if a patient had lots of questions. Happy to say that usually though, I was not lying when I told a patient that the doctor would be with them in just a few minutes.
Hi JK – I love the complimentary coffee!!
Glad you’ve got the hatches battened down, AV, along with all the necessities. I see the heavy stuff is headed your way – enjoy the WD marathon!
Glad you have a therapist you like, YB. Oh and I meant to tell you, I think I saw a bat house on a tree in a neighbor’s yard. That might explain why I’ve seen a few this year. Might not be a bad idea, though, to put one up in my yard as well. I don’t think my outdoor kitties will mess with bats!
It’s a grey and humid day here in Jersey. Just got a few drops of rain, but I don’t think much more is expected. More of a concern is down the shore where rip tides and higher swells are expected as the storm swings out to sea.

I think that your n’hood rain might be headed our way JJ as in very humid and that’s what they are predicting.
Yuri, I guess we’re co-religionists, so I’ll say a way early “Shana Tova” and say it again in about a month or so LOL. A student sitting in on a therapy session? Wow, I would have said no. Confidentiality and all that. In fact my former GP (she moved out of province) was connected with teaching hptl and from the outset I told her I did not want students sitting in listening to my purrsonal stuff. She got it and on one occasion told student to go get themselves coffee until we were done. Once went to sports medicine clinic where everyone had the 9 am appt – just not right. Interesting how at the V.E.T. where one pays, I never wait. Or as I mentioned on another occasion, some things I get done privately as very much worth it to me to lessen stress if at all possible.
So saw awesome dermatologist, all OK thank G-d, no wait time even and she has busy practice. After I was feeling at loose ends so went to big box store at mall and bought me smart new covered storage bins at way low price, unbelievable like huge bins at about $6 ea.! Yes, decided to dissassemble self-made closet shelves after all. Prob A/C guy put idea in my mind as he intimated that getting into my closet to do repair and paint job would be not fun, me being able to get into nooks and crannies helps him not at all and he’s a skinny guy LOL. Well these bins srsly protect my sweaters, they are washable, and I even have an extra one for, I guess sweaters yet to come. The disassembly was a bit of a job even with power drill, but seems that shelving was not put together all that sturdily in first place. And enough dust under them to make bunnies! N. will be offered old shelves if she wants them for her projects or they’ll go in my storage locker, or get recycled.
Then did hazeling as bedding re-deco/change day. Still getting used to functioning/sounds of new washer. good that I can call on customer service with any queries.
Now I’m waiting for my nail polish to dry and waiting for my energy level to rise in time for super-heart 6:15 spin class.

Hee hee, I tell my duo Luck/Scoot that we belong to Kit/Cat Club: I’m their kit as Jeankit & they are my Cats!

Outdoor Crew know me as nice lady w/Nomz 🙂

BTW: Otto showed up few times last couple of weeks. Yesterday he had a slight limp 🙁 Hoping he will heal – couldn’t get look at what was causing it. Kiki has also been around – yes, she has a voice: mewed at me the other day 🙂 Plus orangie as OJ – think he is a tomcat and blk/wht cow kit as Oreo…but only on occasion.
Time for end of month…back on flip as going solo next 2 days! Later…

    Hee hee….what I named you….”food lady” is my guess…lol.

AV, the storm is supposed to hit us early evening tomorrow. I listen to local news/talk radio while I clean and there was all sorts of emergency preparedness info, of course.

Thank goodness we had enough break in rain (we’d already had a bunch before the approaching storm) for son to mow the grass. Things grow fast here and you can find yourself in quite the predicament if there are several rainy days in a row that hit right when it was lawn mowing time. Not good when you are legally obligated to keep it mowed. But now it’s done and we can sit back and laugh at the rain…

Glad my Mon thru Wed are done…busy but enjoyable.

Don’t know what I would have done about the hairstylist, KZ. Probably just rolled with it while inwardly rolling my eyes. Mine only requires a trim….with extreme kinkiness there’s no use attempting anything else.

I agree on the hairdresser KZ. That was unprofessional of the hair stylist and a bummer for you.

It’s good our Florida TDKers are ready for the storm. Now it’s time to snuggle down with kits so they and hoomins don’t get scared.

Absolutely not about the student sitting in on my session. If they want training, get it from somewhere else. It’s always good when you have something in common with your therapist, Yuri.

I’m sorry about Otto-healing energy sent to him. Meows to Kiki, OJ and Oreo.

My cats named me slave…and I’m thankful. 😉

DON’T READ THIS IF YOU’RE EATING. You know how cats sometimes urp up their food within seconds of eating it if they ate too fast? (Happens to Leo occasionally, but rarely to Eko or Emily even though Emily is a super fast eater). This morning it did happen to Emily and I was too busy guarding Eko’s plate from Leo (Eko’s a slow eater) to clean it up right away. Guess who ate it right back up….eww..lol. Crazy food loving girl. She was like, “look, more breakfast!”

    Hee….soft tacos…I like that, PG.

    Soft tacos, right!
Dorry’s name for moi? Prob something that the rules against onsite unfluffiness prevent me from saying. Just sayin’ 😉
Looks like it’s going to imminently pour. Prob just waiting until I step out. But I plan to have mega umbrella in tow – so there!

Pretty sure I’m mama to Leela and Comet. Mac is harder to read. Sometimes I’m close to being mama, other times not so sure, not knowing his story before I brought him in. To the JJ crew I suppose I’m food lady.

Oh I am most definitely “Mother! Mother!” the way Bambi says it, LOL!
Thanks for the input on the hairdresser, guys. It caught me off guard to say the least and I normally would have said something. But I didn’t feel it was the time or the place as I was put on the spot. I didn’t want the intern to feel bad either, more concerned about her as we were both put in the middle. I didn’t have trouble with her rinsing me out, but with the blow dry and style…NOPE.
Oh, and when a doctor asks me if I mind if an intern/student sits in on my appointment, I say “Yes, I do”. End of it, and I don’t care what they end up doing in their spare time. I’m not there for a lesson, and if my doc cares, he will either tell me at the time, or get over it. 😐
ECB, you made me laugh at the cat antics and hicca hicca!! At least you don’t have a dog!! None of us would ever have to clean up cat barf!! My dog is outside and is afraid to come in…the cats line up at the door and he runs away, LOL! You and your family stay safe in the path of the storm!
AV stay safe!! Sounds like you have a nice relaxing few days planned, actually sounds wonderful–
Yuri, I can’t even believe that a therapist would ask if someone else could sit in!! 😮

Well Katzenjammer we have much in common! Shana tova to you although the past 21 yrs has been anything but. I do the outside stuff. Cross train at this point to get my mojo back. I have an injury that’s from May and still not healed. Positioning still off so I’m doing physical therapy which requires I do more farewell than jog. I do it knowing the payoff comes later when I get back to semi normal but I’ll never do a 35 min 5 miles after all the harm done me here. I have a 29 yr career. Proud of every bit of it. Thankfully I don’t need a sports medicine doctor as I did in the early 90s when it was my knee. He did it for free. Amazing gift given I’m disabled and subsist on social security disability for 24 years. My disability is complicated but yes, it’s better to have a shrink you can get somewhere with. Modern Orthodox. New one on me but it seems to have a huge following. Grandmas side is Orthodox and I think that way. My mother’s dad is conservative which is how I was raised but? I don’t like Reform. Rubs me the wrong way.

I didn’t get a chance to check in to TDK until this evening and I haven’t read today’s posts. I’ll try to tomorrow. It has been one long tiring day and I am headed for bed.
Before I go, it was the first day of Spring and a glorious sunny and warm day. It was also our firstborn Meegz birthday. How the heck do we have a daughter in her thirties when we don’t feel any older than that ourselves. 🙄 Okay, maybe we feel a bit older. 😆
I will be sleeping the sleep of the smug and satisfied after my morning in the pool doing aquarobics and physio. Wow it tires you out.

I do hope I can come up with some solution to the moth problemn… I never had them before. They destroyed a beautiful grey loden overcoat and several pullovers. Now I bought a new merino pullover (deep violet or purple) and it is living in my freezer compartment for the moment. Is there ANYTHING that works?

Livia doesn’t have such a problem. She has a beautiful shiny coat.

Trail mix is not advisable when working on a computer. Yuri, I also cycle outside; I’m not very fond of exercise classes (especially not if they have loud music). I’ll wait till Rosh Hashanah to wish you and all my Jewish friends Shana Tova… (I’m not Jewish). For the ones in Buenos Aires, their New Year is in springtime, and the “general” New Year in the heat of the summer… It is still very warm here in Montréal, though our winters can still be bitter. The last one was not very bad, but the year before was horribly cold.

I was taught Sephardic regatta, not Ashkenazic even though were Russo/Ukrainian Jews. Town synagogue for no known reason when the area was Ashkenazic almost entirely. Except for the Catholics and the church that use to be attached to the H.S. my cousin in Ohio has a cycling team. It must get snowed over in Montreal in winter making it hard to cycle? I find inside exercise suffocating anyway but if it storms I resort to dance aerobics. My “go to” other just in case. No endorphins but it does the trick. High Holy days this year are Rosh Hash 9/18-19 and Yom Kippur sorta early too. Thing about it is my sister’s birthday is the 18th, cousins the 19th.
Moths? No clue if Canada sells cedar chips but you might wanna try that if you can’t find mothballs. Maybe you can buy either on line to save your sweaters. Yuri still needs l lysine but I just read something scary about the silica in adult tablets and it’s pretty urgent he get some in him. Walmart online says they have the cat stuff but I go in there and it’s not in the store. Somebody else said they crush up the adult tablets others say pieder. I have no transportation see: walk to the market and back. Buses are ineffective here. A burden more than anything and only run every half hour and only 6-6 M-S. They call themselves a city. I doubt that definition applies in all but name only.
