Where does that one missing sock go? Blaming Basement Cat et al makes purrfect sense. But do you know exactly what your own kitties have been up to? And do you really want to?

What a day I have had, I have had a reaction to a new medication, been building up until I could no longer take it. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with my Dr and she was horrified and apologetic and we had a few laughs when I was able to keep my eyes open(I fell asleep in the waiting room} and awake and not going bright red from med induced flushing. Upshot is I no longer take those meds and should feel better in a few days. Thank goodness she had me on what she called a ‘baby dose’. I’ve not felt this terrible for a long time.
AV, interesting about your cycling and possibly a little wine involved. I really needed that giggle. Hope you weren’t hurt in the tumble.
PM, inherently unbalanced- I can picture that. I was definitely medically unbalanced today.
KJ, I used to love whizzing down a nearby hill as fast as I could, I cycled everywhere as a child and even when I left school and went to work. I had one nasty fall off my bike as a 10 year old and wonder if that may have been the beginning of my knee problems as I damaged one pretty darn good.
Beds, I had to look up platform beds, slightly different to a slat bed in that the mattress is on a sold platform. My inquiring mind wonders how you prevent the underside of the mattress from sweating from body heat above and it being trapped by the platform. Have had a baby mattress become mildewy that way.

Wow, MS that’s scary. Good that your doc could see you straightaway and get you off those evil meds. I’ve had reactions to stuff and very not pretty, they can really do a number on you.

There might be some confusion in the nomenclature, but a platform bed has the mattress resting on a base consisting of slats, usually held together by strong webbing. So there is air circulation around the mattress. I’ve never had a mattress get sweaty on me and I have a srs foam topper with ridges on it’s underside to add firmness and softness, a bit hard to explain, but I’m like the “Princess and the Pea” all surfaces seem to be too hard, therefore pillow/set cushions abound in my place. ๐Ÿ˜‰ With a platform bed a box spring is not required. And the one that I have my eye on has 2 sets of legs, 6″ or 11″, ideal for underbed storage.

MS – glad your doctor was able to see you and change your meds! That’s scary, and nasty.

Love the cat that puts the socks in the litter box. Brunnhilde, a cat of my childhood, brought home the neighbour’s gardening gloves.

Unbalanced – I have a permanent sideways lean from scoliosis. MS, looks like the forecast rain has changed direction and will flood Tasmania instead. We’re still expecting a good dump but we can postpone ordering the ark.

KJ, you hit the nail squarely on the head with reactions doing a number on you. I feel like I have been hit by a bus. Thanks for the bed explanation.
PM, yes scoliosis would explain inherently unbalanced.
I just had a look at the weather maps and hmmm yes there is some rain on the way, less for you and more for Tasmania. I see there is something in the Tasman coming our way, it will give us a wet weekend.

“I’m not eating your sock and static cling.” Awww, Fluffy kit socks!

I rarely wear socks but now am throwing out old, stretched ones and getting all the same type. My kits have never been sock thieves.

    Presidential Socks

So glad your GP took you off the meds. Thankfully, you didn’t have a fatal reaction, MS. That makes sense, PM, but there goes my imaginary tangent about being inherently unbalanced. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I learned to ride my bike at 5 and am surprised I didn’t have more broken bones. Not a care in the world but that was not in an urban area. Stairs were always a particular challenge.

Trash p/u is tomorrow so it’s time to clean the litter boxes. Cya

    Have a happy~

    You rode down stairs?

Socks are an unfortunate necessity for most of the year here. I hate them, but I hate frozen feet more.

Livia loves to play with clean, paired socks. Even clean socks have some of their human’s odour on them, if you are a cat. At first she was using the sock pair as prey, but now she treats it more like a baby.

Little Pink Sock, little pink sock-Mwah!

It took me awhile and many challenges to gain the wisdom I have now, Lagatta. ๐Ÿ˜† Does Livia sleep with her sock?

    Good afternoon everyone!

MS, that’s so scary about your meds! So glad that you got that cleared up and that it wasn’t worse than it was!

I hate wearing socks also…I have a drawer full that I hardly ever wear. I tried wearing socks to bed when my feet were cold once and I almost lost my mind. ๐Ÿ˜† Seriously, if my feet can’t feel the sheets it makes me wonky.

Well, I guess if I’m going to get my orchids repotted, now would be the time to do it. They are in need of some better potting medium and bigger pots, then maybe they will bloom this fall!

Dorry does not go after socks. However after offloading dryer I have to close door ASAP as he has a penchant for tackling the lint screen. I think he thinks that he is catching something furry. But not something I’s want him to swallow! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I also try to keep odd socks, ’cause often the matching one eventually turns up clinging to a folded and put in drawer T-sheirt for dear life. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Contract kitteh hehehe!

Feel like I’m just barely keeping head above water. Bed last night at 4 am. Whacked out. It’s complicated, a recipe involving being under run, over-exercising, undereating and another situation. And always a certain amount of stress running in bkgd. And not an easy fix although some peeps “if they were me” … well they are not. *Sigh*

Yet I get done what needs to get done. As in completely re-organized my jewellery box, even painted up some neat unfinished wood boxes from $$ Store. So now efurrything is in its place, which makes me happy.

If I can focus might do some course work. And might knit at same time. Anything to distract. Purrhaps some noms first order of the pm. Ya think?

Yup got to go make it myself!

Cute pics today gang! …. I too keep missing socks, and eventually find them in odd places, like static/stuck to the back of Mr. AV’s shorts as he’s getting ready to walk out the door! LOL actually happended a couple of times …. good thing I caught them, before he had to meet people for work!

MS, I’m glad you could see your Dr. having a reaction to meds is bad, and can be very dangerous!

I’ve been inputting all day, and I usually keep the TV on as background noise … today has been a marathon of the old ‘Jaws’ movies LOL ….. kept me entertained, I haven’t seen them in years … even cheesier today!

Time for me to freezer dive for something for dinner, have a great one all!

Hi all – yikes, MS, how scary! Glad you are back on track and on your way to feeling better.
Lil pink sock – Mutts is my fav!
Had the opposite of a missing sock today. One of my socks found itโ€™s way into my sheets/towels laundry!
Comet went back to the vet today to get a booster of Convenia. His ears are much better and Dr. Tucker gave him a complimentary pedicure!

    Good morning all.
Socks, I am sure my neighbours must think I am married to a centipede because there are so many socks on the line when I do Mr MS’s washing. Combine that with wet weather that delays the washing and the number increases. Monday I had 36 socks on the line, all proper pairs so no lost socks this time. I tell you having an uneven number of socks on the line has me hurrying off to find the missing one.
I am feeling much the same as yesterday but all that will improve as the medication leaves my system. Just that thought helps even though I developed more symptoms overnight. Thinking positively. It’s a sunny day and the strong winds of the past few days have completely dropped. Daughter and SIL back from Hawaii and were greeted by overjoyed cats back from their cattery stay. I usually leave a small bouquet of flowers to welcome daughter back but what was on offer was not great so I bought them a pineapple instead. They had been to the Dole plantation and I love irony(I did have to cut the piece off the label that said ‘product of the Philippines) ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ˜†
He he he Presidential cat & socks 24/7
I am most definitely a barefoot girl or minimal footwear until Winter then socks are needed as I hate cold feet.
JK, I love the variety of coffee mugs that you post. I can never pick one over another so enjoy them all and wonder what the next days mug will be like.
KZ, I too have tried wearing socks in bed but it drove me to distraction and they were soon discarded. It’s only Winter when I can tolerate anything on my feet.
KJ, I have a small stash of lone socks awaiting the return of their mate but after few months they get paired with any other lone socks. No one can see what Mr MS is wearing in his work boots. However it does bother me, I hate unmatched socks and I even hang them in pairs on the line which makes them quick and easy to fold up as I take them off the line.
KJ, hang in there and deal with the most urgent thing first but make sure you are eating regularly as that will help keep you mind unfuzzed. Yeah look who is giving advice, she who is feeling the same. We can’t stop the world and get off but we can slow the spin by dealing with one thing at a time. Hugs.
AV, LOL at Mr AV with static socks on his butt. He he, you have picked up on my freezer dive saying. Time I did the same thing.. . . . . .
Mmmmmm venison steaks for dinner here.
Comet, well done on the ears and oh la la a complimentary pedicure.

PM, this is the latest on the weather. A large low pressure system bringing freezing storms to southeast Australia is headed toward New Zealand, with rain expected for much of the country from Friday. Bitterly cold southerly gales are being forecast for parts of southeast Australia during the next few days.
I hope it isn’t too bad for you or us.
May I have some Positive Vibes for my niece cat Muffy who is not well, not eating and has a temp from an abscess care off a fight with a new neighbour cat. There is also a possibility she may have feline aids. ๐Ÿ™
I have just read more weather articles and think I will fill the wood rack in preparation as it looks like this could be quite a nasty cold and wet weekend ahead.

You have given me a lot of insight into NZ weather. The people I know best in the Southern Hemisphere are Argentinian and Chilean (some were former refugees here who have move back home, or their children, others people I’ve met at courses and conferences). And that is a long way east of you.

I almost never wear socks at night in our frozen waste. And yet my feet get very cold, so I fold an extra blanket at the bottom of my little bed, which is also a great cat target. Livia doesn’t sleep with socks at night, perhaps for catnaps in the daytime. And I have a little “pairing station”; one of those small colourful plastic containers one buys at Dollarama. It lives in the niche in my home office between the door to the front porch and the space freed up by the staircase to the flat below. It is very sunny, and cats sleep there, on the hardwood floors or on a cushion. Renzo died there.

I love mutts comixs too. And the style perfectly captures that of comics from 100 years ago, in the early 20th century. Such as the Katzenjammer kids!

MS, a prayer has been said on behalf of Muffy.

Lagatta, yup the KJ Kids, from the dawn of comic strips!

Just 5 of us as spin class tonite, but vibe/music was terrif!

I used to toss odd socks in frustration, and then I’d find the 2nd one – laughing at me! ๐Ÿ˜›

Some peeps actually spend time/effort knitting mismatched socks as a style choice. Add this to the list of things that I just don’t get. I will not be knitting socks. ‘Cause I don’t wear pants, ’cause they don’t show like a sweater does and just not for moi. I do wear summery $$$ store ankle socks on occasion and when I get bored with them they get relegated to gym gear stash.

A complementary pedi for Comet – awesome!

Warmed up quite a bit, not sure how to dress as not precisely summer temps. Would that this were my biggest quandry!

    MS, {{{hugs}}} back!

Sending lots of good vibes to Muffy. (((Gentle hugs)))

    Nothing like excellent workout music!

Dr. Tucker likes Comet. Thereโ€™s nothing quite like an extra large black cat!

Lagatta, a lot of our weather here comes straight from Australia given that they are to the west of us. They get to test drive it first then send it out into the Tasman sea to replenish the rain and over to us.
KJ, I’m not sure how to dress at the moment either, these tween seasons weather is so changeable.
Thanks for the good vibes for Muffy’s health.
I went to the bottom of the garden today where Autumnal weeds have grown tall and was in the process of pulling them out when I spotted something odd. A hip high plant with large leaves and I can’t identify it positively but have a hunch that I now have a tamarillo tree planted by the birds. I’m happy bout that but it is in frost territory growing in the lowest point of the property. I hope I can transplant it successfully and then wait until it fruits. Will it be a red or yellow tamarillo. I do love plants that are self/bird sown. All my pumpkins were self sown this year. Free food. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes KJ, food will not serve itself. If organizing give you warm fuzzies, then go for it! Organizing is something I do because it needs to be done.

It will take a few days but you’re on the mend now, MS. Bunches of healing light for Miss Muffy. It’s good your Dau and SIL made it back from Hawai’i. I would love to know all about the volcano. I love studying volcanoes because they are so cool…or hot. Since the weather is going to be nasty this weekend, maybe you should catch up on some old movies in front of fireplace.

I’m glad Comets’ ears are better and now, a pedicure.

I throw only socks back in the sock drawer to see if the mate comes up somewhere. Did you know, people used to darn their socks? I do too but usually when I’m cleaning out the sock drawer.

    ๐Ÿ˜†
