Only started today. She’s been meowing most of the day, won’t really feed and doesn’t seem to stop moving i.e constantly trying to walk everywhere and when she’s sleeping she’ll roll about and keep stretching. About an an hour/hour and a half ago we felt her and she’s rather cold, we didn’t really think much of it other than the mum and been gone for too long. I went down stairs about 15 minutes ago and she’s now jolting as if she has hiccups and crying as if in pain. She’s still cold and doesn’t seem to want to close her mouth. Please can someone help me.

Never mind. I just went downstairs to find my mum trying to give her cpr :’c Sorry for any inconvenience.

Edit:I would appreciate if someone would still explain what happened though. Not only for me and my family but to help those that may be having the same problem.

Honestly have no idea other than it sounds like she might have had a seizure, please take her to a vet for a check-up as soon as you can. Don’t know if cats get colic.

She probably needed a heating pad, and possibly had brain damage. Sometimes kitten just pass and there isnt anything you can do

Chrissy, are you saying that the little one has passed on? Or that it has recovered and is doing okay?

If she has passed on, I am sorry for your loss. It happens sometimes with young kittens. Sometimes they have birth defects we can’t see, or have a virus or parasite they got from their mother. Or she could have fallen and have a concussion or brain hemorrhage. If the mother cat can sense that the kitten isn’t going to make it, she will often abandon the kitten. That sounds cruel but it’s nature’s way of making sure the strong survive and the weak don’t sap the mother’s strength.

If the kitty is still alive, please be aware that a kitten who is too cold or too hungry is not able to eat. They need to be warm and have enough strength to eat. When people are hand rearing orphan kittens they often have to put a few drops of light Karo syrup or even sugar water on kitty’s gums to give it enough energy to latch onto the nipple and nurse.

Yes, she did pass away. We did go see the vet yesterday and she said it’s most likely because it’s the mother’s first time and the fact that she is rather young (Getting pregnant on her first heat season.)So she suggested we try and hand feed them. Unfortunately another kitten passed away about 4am this morning. This time we reckon it’s because her umbilical cord got pulled off too soon (So we think) We’re trying our hardest to keep the last 2 alive by feeding every 3 hours (If the mother hasn’t fed them), keeping them warm etc. I’ll keep you updated. They really are gorgeous.
