This week one of my little guys had some fur disappearing by the base of his tail and a small patch on his tummy. I have recently noticed a few other posts of people experiencing this so I will ask my vet today ( they are due for their jabs) and post back with his ideas on what it may be. I wonder if it is somewhat of a seasonal thing since I have only recently noticed other people concerned about the same thing- but I did however recentlyish change their food from Purina ONE to Iams so there is a possibility it is the food that is giving him an allergy. I don’t want to jump to any conclusions and I am crossing my fingers that it is nothing more serious.

    Check for updates!

There are a lot of possible allergens in Iams (as well as Purina one).

Here is a video/article about feline allergies: http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2009/07/02/does-your-pet-have-allergies-what-you-need-to-know-and-do.aspx

Ugh well the vet said not to worry too much for now but keep an eye out. Possibilities are ringworm (which he said wasn’t likely), allergies, and that the boys have had fleas for a while that we are struggling to get rid of so maybe he’s allergic to the fleas. I left feeling pretty relieved- but still contemplating changing food. However, a few minutes before I left for work I decided to clean the litter box and saw that Meiko had gone a very loose #2 and there was a little bit of blood in it. The vet was closed so there was no way I could get ahold of him to ask what I should do or what the problem may be. I just got off work so I will poke around the forum looking for other people’s posts on blood in the stool I am really freaking about now though I am so worried =( Thanks for the article FF- I did see your post for the packaged frozen raw food which I am considering doing- there is a place 2 miles away so tomorrow the mr. and I are going to check it out and see if it will fit in our budget

Here I think it is $17 for a 3 lb bag – the bag should last a single cat 12-16 days. You can get a larger bag too which is cheaper. I only feed Nightmare premade raw, the rest get “frankenprey” raw which is 1/3 of the cost.

You may want to try giving a probiotic like Holistic Select Transition Solution to get the good bacteria in his digestive tract back to the right levels.
