Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. Veterans Day, Armistice Day and Remembrance Day (informally known as Poppy Day) are celebrated on November 11th. At the 11 A.M. there is a 2-minute silence.

This weekend café we recognize and honor all veterans living and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

    Thank you to all veterans.
    Cya and have a happy~

Good Morning – Thank you, Veterans. It’s an honor to commemorate this day with you.

The cat saluting the parade is so funny! As a teenage drum corp member, I marched in many parades, but I don’t remember any Veteran’s Day parades. Purrhaps it’s because it’s too cold around here in November!

Sounds like a great way to spend a Caturday, AV. Similar here, though I’m not prepping for 13 dinner guests! Have a great day!

Spent Caturday snuggled up in bed with a gr8 book, Dorry (at times) and much-needed sleep. Now, waiting for srs café au lait to revive me with plan to finish knitting sleeves on dress so the it’s ready for assembly. Determined not to stay up too late and undo today’s rest.

Hi from late Sunday afternoon. It’s been a warm but slightly overcast day here. Saw something unusual as I was letting HRH outside after brekky. I looked up because I heard wings and four Canada geese were heading towards me and as they flew past the upper storey windows they honked. HRH was quite startled. 😯
Seeing as it was a fine day I managed to smoke my peppers and now they are in the dehydrator. The house smells wonderful. Dinner will be using up the little bits of pepper from around the stem area. Waste not want not.
HRH has been conspicuous by her absence today, she must have found a cozy private spot to sleep the day away.
Saturday or Sunday our ‘hazeling’ always needs doing. I got several loads of washing on the line.
AV, that is quite a crowd you will be having.
KJ, are you by any chance part cat, your sleeping habits lead me to think so. 🙂

MS, that might explain it … and purrzz for the compliment! 😉 😆

Neat that you received a list from some flying Canadians – albeit brief! Hehehe! Sorry that they scared HRH!

Hi all – I love the sound of the honking Canada geese! They honk when they fly from lake to lake around here.

I have a brew of apple butter in the slow cooker, the house smells great! I’m hoping to get the technique down soon as a holiday gift giving item. I have co-workers this year! Ones that I like!

It’s a sunny and chilly Sunday here. Leela doesn’t mind though, for she is parked on the rug at the wood burner!

Click on Sunday and it should open into my FB account with a video of kitten with a pacifier. You don’t need a FB account.

    HI from Monday.
KJ, we get some decent size skeins of Canada geese flying overhead here but for some reason those four were flying low up the gully that I live on one side of. They are quite a pretty and large bird up close.
PG, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww on the kitty with the pacifier. 🙂
JJ, with your apple butter and my smoked pappers we have some darned good aromas going. I am tempted to make some apple butter myself as I saw Granny Smith apples at a great price this morning but didn’t get any. I could give the apple butter to family at Christmas too. Hmmmmm plan formulation here. Care to share your recipe JJ?
The day was hot and sunny but has clouded over but is still warm. I should be in the garden. Maybe in a while.

    Tks, PG! 😉

Not to complain, and I so love my new ‘outer, but I have to be constantly on guard as the spellcheck feature is not in sync with my intentions.

As in text was supposed to read: “Neat that you received a visit …” Plus it always corrects Dorry as Sorry. *Sigh* And will not accept LOL/TDK spelling.

Just realized that I can turn off spellcheck feature and turn it back on again when I’m working. 🙂

Hey MS, here ya go –

    All-day Apple Butter

5 1/2 lbs. apples – peeled, cored and finely chopped
    4 cups white sugar
    2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1/4 tsp. salt

    Place apples in slow cooker.
Mix sugar, cloves, cinnamon and salt, pour over apples and mix well.
    Cook on high one hour.
Cook on low 9-11 hours, stirring occasionally.
Uncover and cook on low one hour. Whisk to increase smoothness.

I didn’t have 5 1/2 pounds of apples, nor did I want to make that much apple butter today, so I cut the sugar to 2 cups and cut the low cooking time by one hour. It sure was nice having that apple aroma floating around the house all day, then having a few crackers with warm apple butter. Hey, I had to test it!
