Celebrating the birth of Frankenstein, and its creator Mary Shelley. One of the best known horror characters of all time!

I’m backkkk! I made a trip to Palisade, CO to fetch two guy kits from Barstow, CA traveling across country to Nashville, TN. It’s part of the volunteer group that transports kits to their furever homes. They are spending a week with another member and on to Nashville next weekend. I had to shower as soon as I got home so my gang wouldn’t know I was tramping around. 😮

ROTFLOL “I ar big scary monster-raar” “It’s never to early to feed the cat.”

    My 2.5 cents:

    BAHAHAHA!

I’m tired and need to get back in the rhythm of things.

    Cya and have a happy~

LOL PG, we seem to have picked the same pic, great minds think alike.
Wow you have been busy being an angel driver for kitties. How wonderful. I hope your kits understand any lingering odours that they may catch a whiff of before you hit the shower.

In keeping with the theme? Yuri and I were at the park two weds ago and a baby bat dropped out of the tree we were standing at. !!! It was on its back and didn’t move much but they feed on blood which? Makes me wonder how they manage to live there for at least 18 years out of the 21 I’ve lived here. I don’t think I heard any til 18 yrs ago. Bats are usually found in caves right? Well now….don’t we all now know a few more things about the locals??

Yuri, my rsch tells me that for the most part bats feed on insects, with some feeding on fruit. Rare vampire bats do feed on blood, but not on humans. They take blood from mammals and do not kill them as they only need like 1 tsp/day. IMHO bats are much maligned, although as they prob carry rabies as do raccoons, I would not want to get too close to them.

PG, good to see you back after your awesome help on kit underground railroad. I do hope that your furry trio don’t sense what you were up to! 😯 Loving Frankencat!
MS, excellent crossover! And “you can start the scary movie now.” Proving that even Basement Cats get scared!

Morning all! GREAT PICS!! Love the one with the ‘limbs’ coming out of the flower pots! If I could find some old limbs laying around I would try that this Halloween season! 😆
My cats occasionally get ‘spooked’ and they will all fly in different directions. Why does this happen? I mean, we are all usually just sitting around when one of them will freak out and they all will be running in place until they get traction, then peewwww! they are running and gone!

Morning all! …. funny pics today! …. love horror movies …. am on a WD marathon as we speak …. getting ready for the new season!
I don’t know where bats live here in Fla. I think maybe in the trees, cause we will see them flying around sometimes dusk, just before the sun goes down … getting ready to hunker down for the deluge of rain …. have a great day all!

Appropriately, we learn of the death of Gene Wilder, who was perfection in the comedy “Young Frankenstein” (he played Dr Frankenstein, not The Monster).

    It’s “Fronkenschteen”. RIP Gene Wilder.
Well done, PG, thank you for your service! I’d love to be a part of that but I don’t like driving that much, especially in the most densely populated state in the union. Hope your gang forgives you and doesn’t notice too much the trouble you’ve been in.
“I big scary monster, raar!” One of my favorites.
Funny crossover pic, MS! I absolutely love the pic of Frankenstein and the wee kitten. Mr. F has a soft spot!
Though I’ll keep my distance from bats for sure, I hope that baby bat was ok. Their main contribution is all the mosquitos that they eat. Around here, bats are slowly making a comeback after a disease wiped out over 90% of the population. I hope to see more, though, as those dang skeeters eat me alive, sometimes even after I’ve coated down with repellant.
    KZ, perhaps you have ghosts.

    Yes we do MS!

It was a 3 cat night. I don’t know if it was because temps. were in the low 50s or for forgiveness. I like helping to transport kits. It gives them the chance to be with their purr parents and not left in a shelter.
That’s one of advantages of living in Colorado. We don’t have those densely populated areas…even in Denver.

You’re funny, Yuri…in good way! A single bat can eat up to 1,200 mosquito-sized insects every hour, and each bat usually eats 6,000 to 8,000 insects each night. Their appetite for mosquitoes certainly makes a backyard more comfortable.

It’s been 9 years and it seems some colonies are showing slight improvement. You can build your own bat house, Joan. Check with local wildlife peeps and find out what bats are in your area. Every rescue helps the bat population.

I’ve been watching Tropical Depression Nine. They’re saying up to 5″-15″ inches of rain. I just can’t imagine that much rain. Be careful and make sure A’tuin and BlueBell (?) are snug.

Thanks for the vids JK. Gene Wilder (RIP) was smart and talented actor/director. He always made me laugh.

Hi guys. Such a great way to help kitties, PG….good job!

I can tell you one place bats live in FL….the folds of the canopy over my mom’s pontoon boat. They fly out every night and back in during the day. Not sanitary since they poop too. Mom’s boyfriend came up with some sort of solution though. (I didn’t ask…lol). Wish we could have them in our yard for mosquito control. Who knows…maybe we have them. The mosquitos haven’t really become a problem yet this summer….amazing difference…knock on wood! (They did arrive late last summer so I’m not convinced we’re safe yet).

Horrors! I put the month in Café heading as 98 – and no one noticed. *smacks self on head* I guess my next move is re-inventing the calendar, as opposed to the wheel LOL.
Busy all day. A/C guy came and does not feel there is mould issue. Being KJ I recalled mould expert who was kind enough to hear out symptoms and agree. So spoke with landlord and plan is for A/C guy to replace the exhaust hose in its entirety and do some paint touch up on cupboard wall just because. Slated for this Sunday. And we all hope this will take care of things. Have to take stuff out of closet yet again, but point in time dis-installing walk-in shelves not req’d (took some pleading as it was way not fun installing them.) Dorry actually doesn’t hide when he comes and is actually friendly with him, accepts scritches even. He does not do this with many peeps.
Plus found me nicer nesting tables than the other ones (also street finds.) So some cleaning/touch up also took time. N. Wants my other ones, neat to be able to do 2nd recycle.
MS tks yet again. Spoke with president at Women’s Art Society and they are more than willing to let me attend 1st meeting of season and then decide if I want to join. If it works also volunteered to help out in areas of PR, writing, stuff I do. Timing wash load as I’m just that jealous of your timer. And the tune at end of cycle. 😉
Tomorrow way early appt, reg dermatologist skin check. She’s super nice, one of the only docs I know of on first name basis. She says it stuns her when patients come in wearing full makeup when the point is for her to see their skin as is. Now, I hate not wearing makeup, but it will save me a few minutes and I can always put it on after. Same goes for any nail polish. Plus she checks skin in its entirety, but discreetly, exposing one part at a time, so one is never standing there totally nekked. Not that I’d care.
Had good talk with de facto guy (stunningly good looking too) in charge of fitness program at gym as a new permanent co-ordinator is starting soon. They are having our former expert spin instructor and pro cyclist assess each instructor’s style and see if they are up to par. And if not, and if they are not willing to improve they will be shown the door. So my ongoing critiques should get some credence.
Bats are IMHO cool. I’d love to see the nightly show in Austin TX where a gazillion of them fly out from under a bridge. Major tourist attraction. And there’s a neat bat sculpture nearby I think.
Must scrounge supper. Hope all had a good Tuesday!

Had hair appointment today, much needed too I might add. With all the goings on here most of the time, I hadn’t been there since March! Ugh. Badly needed trim, but now that it’s long, I’m the only one that notices. But I’m needing some input from you all about my service today. Do you think it’s strange (not unheard of, I know) that my regular stylist did my consult, mixed my color, applied it and I sat in chair waiting for it to process. In the meantime, she had 2 more ladies come in and she started each one. An intern (not a licensed stylist) was asked to rinse my hair, then my stylist asked her to dry it and style it. It’s not that she didn’t do an okay job (sort of timid and unsure) and my hair looked fine when I left–kind of like it would if I do it myself. But who did I just pay big bucks to do my hair? Would you be happy with this if it was you?

Afternoon all. It is another gorgeous day here and it’s the LAST day of WINTER. Woohoo SPRING tomorrow. Of course the weather gods have no idea of the difference and will continue to inflict cold and wet days on us. Spring in NZ tends to be a lot of cold wet weather as well as bouncing lambs, daffodils, trees bursting into leaf and gorgeous days that make you forget the not so great days.
YB, bats dropping down beside you. 😯 😮
KJ, my washer is definitely not top line, it’s just an ordinary washer that plays a cute tune.
KZ, check in Thrift shops for random limbs from clothing store ‘models’. Now as for the cats scattering and freaking out for no observable reason it’s probably that one of them ‘let rip’ in a frequency that humans can’t hear. 😆 Our gorgeous dog used to squeak them out and then look at each of us in the room with a very disgusted look. They were so high pitched we sometimes couldn’t hear them but her actions always gave her away. 🙄
Yes Lagatta rather appropriate and also sad. How touching of him to keep his Alzheimer’s a secret so that young children wouldn’t connect it to the character of Willie Wonka.
    RIP Gene Wilder.
Waving to JJ, JK,PG and ECB.
    JK ! Chocolates. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
KJ, LOL here about the year error. My excuse is it’s evening when I get to the next days Cafe and I am tired. Oh it is good that there is no mould in your closet and it will be good to have the hose replaced and paint touch up done. Excellent that Women’s Art group are happy for you to see if the group is a fit for you. Hope you end up with instructors who challenge you and suit your style.
Interesting facts on NZ – New Zealand has only two native land mammals, and they are both bats – the long-tailed bat (Chalinolobus tuberculatus) and the lesser short-tailed bat (Mystacina tuberculata). They have bodies the size of a person’s thumb (5–6 centimetres from nose to tail) and a wingspan of nearly 30 centimetres. The M?ori name for both species is pekapeka.
Yes our only native land mammals are bats and I have never seen one and probably never will.

KZ, I’d be seriously PO’d with your hairdresser, but I’m like that. I might have said something then and there to the hairdresser like “I assume that you’ll be doing the trim and style.” They should have asked you. But this is after the fact so I don’t know if you can say something as I don’t know how long you’ve been with her or if you’re comfortable doing so. If you feel it looks OK do you want to start up about it? For sure next appt I’d confirm who’s doing what. From what I know, there are some hairdressing schools where students charge way less than fully-fledged professionals. You should not have had to pay the regular price. So if you’re really upset you could call them and mention this to salon manager, and perhaps in the interests of best business practices they’ll give you a complimentary as in free colour/style for next appt. Just a thought.

Katzenjammer? People are just to vain! I have had skin problems from birth. Doctor saved me forever by making my mother wash my twice a day with Phisoderm til I was 5. Different formulation today I’d guess. But? I still have unexplained stuff that happens occasionally which I leave alone. My skin is so sensitive all I have to do is run against an unfamiliar obj and I get a rash. The hair question? I do it myself. You can buy (forgot who mentioned it) haircutting scissors at Dollar General or Walmart. Piece of cake if there are lines to follow. I haven’t trusted them to do my hair since 99. No lines left but I have Trump hair. No style really works. Moisturizing is key and I’ve used Ivory soap all my life. Won’t try anything else. It’s not safe. Beware Aloe, it’s drying.

Thanks Pizzicato. I just can’t fathom them. Back in NJ? I don’t know if there would be any. We lived next to a woods. Nothin. I guess. It’s nice you’re a rescue purrent. As for weather? Here it’s 70s overnight and high 80s low 90s still thru Sept. Catty corner (LOL) state is different I guess. Gene wilders death left a hole. To be sure.
