Tuesday 28-06-2016 – Something Fishy's Goin' on in the TDK Café

Aww, cute! That is a fetching rain hat! Thanks, KJ. Hope your cold doesn’t give you too much trouble as it progresses. Someone once told me colds are three days coming, stay for three days, and three days going. That sounded about right.

So hubby is going to the mountains with us this year! (Every summer my extended family, mom’s side of the family which includes my aunt and uncle, gets cabins at a state park in the North Geeorgia mountains). He hasn’t been able to go with us since younger son was a toddler. (We haven’t gone every year, but since moving to FL we’ve gone every year). Hubby’s official two year employment ends at the end of summer, so, why not use up the leave days he has? Yay…but that also means we’ll be leaving the cats for longer than we ever have…one week! Sad! It’s only a few days longer than the four days we’ve done for Thanksgiving…trying to keep reminding myself of that. I got the petsitter reserved yesterday. At least we have a petsitting service we like. Trip is coming up in just under two weeks.

KJ, I hope you are drinking lots of fluids and getting some rest. Despite all the meds out there that claim to rid one of cold symptoms, I personally rely on water and rest. The 3 day thing sounds about right. You don’t feel right for a few days, then you know you have a cold, then you start feeling better. The annoying common symptom is the cough, which is usually the last symptom, and seems to last forever. Feel better.
Vacay in the mountains sounds great, ECB, and I’m so glad hubby can join you. Bet the boys are happy about that. There’s lots of things to do with mom, but plenty of ‘guy stuff’ too! I think we are hard wired to stress about the home front before we go places. I agree with the stress melting away (usually) the further you get away from home.
Hi Kandy – that pic is too cute! I’m a sucker for cat vids too. The internet would be downright boring if there weren’t any cat videos! Hope you and DeeDee are well today.
PG, good thing AV doesn’t have a cat that likes to fish, that would not be good for her pond! Got my mammo last month, then went back for an ultrasound. Now they want another MRI. Nothing to worry about, it’s all about family history. However, this is becoming a cycle, and I’m tired of it. Will speak with doc before anything further. Screenings are great, but I’m feeling like we’re going into overkill.
Finishing up the planking challenge this week. Guess I will keep doing it. My belly doesn’t look any flatter but my core is probably a bit stronger.
Rainy day here. Although it hasn’t rained much this morning, I didn’t walk, as I don’t like walking on wet roads and paths.
Hey PG, hubby and I are going to the MST3K reunion show this evening. It’s playing at select theaters, and there’s one about 45 minutes away. There’s an encore show on July 12.

Hi ya everyone! PG, you’re right, I am almost out the door …. we leave Thurs …. very excited, trying to double check my lists to make sure I have everything I need …. I’m pretty comfortable that I’ve thought of everything …. like KZ, as soon as the trip starts, I will relax and start enjoying myself …

My pond was designed by Son, specifically so that nothing (cats, coons, etc.) can fish in it. It’s deep and surrounded by flat rocks that are cantilevered out over the edge. A ‘fisherman’ would have to be able to stand back off the rocks and reach back and down at least a foot to even get near the top of the water ….. additionally, there are larger ferns that surround the flat rock rim, so I don’t think anything could possibly get to them …. Mr. AV has to almost get in to clean the filers (he has wading boots) LOL ….

Well, back to packing and running errands …. I plan to get my pedi/mani tomorrow (looking forward to that!)
