May Day takes many forms, a Spring celebration, workers uniting, or yowling for help!

Good morning all, and good night MS, rest well.

Beautiful day here and Mr. KZ is beginning to plant corn…and our sweet corn too! Spring seems like it has finally arrived, and there are tractors in the fields everywhere.

It’s nice to be able to open a window or two and have fresh breezes in the house again. I even moved a couple of house plants outside yesterday. It’s like they KNOW they are in a different place. If plants could smile…these are definitely doing it!

Buon primo maggio a tutti i gattari et gattare!!!

Spring is creeping in very s-l-o-w-l-y here, it was still chilly yesterday, bit warmer today. Lots of people cycling to work on the cycle path I see from my home office. In business casual, but no skirts without opaque tights or leggings yet.

Livia is cautiously approaching the lovely half-grown tiger kitten who lives across the lane. They are both so pretty; hope they hang out together. Cats can become friends, but they are cautious and territorial.

I haven’t even bought my balcony herbs yet. I don’t bother with a token tomato plant because the squirrels take bites out of them. One thing that will grow anywhere in a small space is Chinese greens such as bok choi.

    Happy Mayday – rabbit rabbit!
Spring has arrived here in Jersey. Leela is napping in a sun puddle and doesn’t mind that there’s no fire in the wood burner!

    Good morning all.
I love the ‘screw the system’ pic. So like a cat, they make their own rules as and when they need them.
KZ, I am living vicariously through you for Spring and Summer, not that our Autumn is cold. We have had a cold snap and then biblical falls of rain over the weekend but yesterday the temp was hitting 27C-80F and we have fine weather until the weekend. However I don’t want Winter personally but after a long hot Summer that has seen pesky insects increase and also vermin we really need a cold Winter to deal with them and any nasties that attack plants. I hope your growing season is without any dramas. Love the idea of plants smiling, while you are freeing your plants to outdoors I am moving my precious fig and kumquat trees that are in pots into more sheltered spots away from possible frosts.
Lagatta, Happy May 1 to all. Couldn’t figure out the rest unless it was ‘from cat lady to cat lady’ ?
I hope Livia can become friends with the tiger kitty. Over the years and various cats I have found that none of my female cats will befriend another female unless it is one of her own. Shadz was a terror for befriending young males and letting them take over her territory of sneak her food. She never chased them off and the younger they were the more she liked them. She was a feline cougar. 😆 😆
Bother ! I forgot to say rabbit rabbit rabbit yesterday morning. 🙁
Leela, move over sweetie. I feel like curling up in the sun too as clouds have hidden the sun here for now.

I forgot to say “Rabbit, rabbit” this month as well! Dang! 🙄

Sunny out and working it’s way to warm. Tomorrow supposedly will be Summer-esque, then temps go back down a bit. Right now it looks like it might rain. But ever hopeful I relocated srs Winter coats to “other” closet. At least my new raincoats and leather jackets are getting their turn. 🙂

Well although I did give up on the quiz for Week 1 of latest MOOC, on 2nd attempt I passed Week 2 quiz. Don’t even know why it matters, guess it’s the purrfectionist in me. Prof must be a tough marker, so glad that I am done with “real” uni, although most of my courses being practical/performance/essay, I did not work all that hard. Anyway the topic “Morality” is way interesting and I do give over tidbits to one or 2 peeps who are also intellectuals.

Plus I get lots of knitting done while learning online! Of course what with warm weather approaching most upcoming sweaters will be made and then relegated to storage for Fall/Winter. I did just order me some cotton blend yarn for a Summer sweater. Quite complicated stitch, but sometimes a challenge can be sorta fun. I will be doing it in ecru, IMHO a more “natural” choice. I think that only 2x I’ve made sweater in yarn specified by pattern, this way all my sweaters are totally unique. Plus the way things go it will hang straight on me and be quite a bit longer. And I’ll need to wear it over a T or cami, as I don’t do see-through. Another reason why I don’t do sweaters for other peeps, although I have been asked. I know the look that I like for me, and won’t take a chance with other peep’s self-impressions.

ai gattari e gattare means to cat gentlemen and cat ladies; and it is in Roman dialect, not standard Italian. Gattare/gattari are people, mostly pensioners, who feed and care for stray cats in Rome. Anna Magnani was a famous gattara.

kj, if that is you a) you are a looker and b) that is a beautiful sweater. By the way, there is a serious trend towards “modest dressing”, fuelled not only by different faiths but also by people who are simply tired of fashion meaning putting their bodies on display.

My Renzo, though he had undergone That Nasty Operation, was in love with a small black female cat who lived in the courtyard. They groomed each other and slept together on the roof of a garage behind my house when it was sunny and warm. He was sad when her humans moved away.

Lagatta, pic is the pattern! Def not me. Model is way bigger than me, and I rock super short very dk brown hair. Plus I have not even started sweater as yet, yarn is in the mail, should arrive sometime soon!

Not just a modesty thing, I’m way too bony to go sleeveless and low cut. IMHO going around half-nekked does not suit most peeps, both men and women. But yeah, to each their own.

Thanks for the translation Lagatta. I remember you telling us when you posted a pic recently about the cat sanctuary in Rome. That’s how I figured cat lady.
HRH Shadz had a ‘spa day’ too but it didn’t stop her when she was young inviting young males for a bit of ‘fun’. We couldn’t believe it but saw it with our own eyes.
