Created by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, this Special Day is annually commemorated on June 5th. It is one of the main vehicles for stimulating worldwide awareness of the environment and enhancing political attention and action.

Environment Day – I used to have a case of water bottles in my car but I changed and now, i fill and carry a glass water bottle. My collection of recycled totes grows every week. If I don’t remember to take them with me and then buy another one.

It was soo hot and Miss Gaea didn’t want to come in. She was sprawled out in the shade. There is always fresh water for her but I still worry.

I going to put a 1/4 inch layer of peat moss in the yard tomorrow. There are areas in the backyard that just don’t want to heal so my nephew says to put down some peat moss.

    Have a happy~

PG, the ‘new formula’ pic is so sweet. COA warning required.
I have a collection of recycled tote bags increases also, mainly because I forget to put them back in the car and then find I need to buy one to get something home. For my main grocery shop I used recycled tote bags and have done so for many years. I also have two awesome insulated bags that AZDeb sent me. Some of our large supermarkets are now banning single use plastic bags and are looking at removing plastic packaging from their own products. I reuse the plastic bags from the fruit/vege store there the next week etc and all my purchases go into a recycled tote.
I don’t blame Miss Gaea for not wanting to come inside but the girl has a curfew time. We always had plenty of water out for Shadz in a number of places.
The peat moss should hold water better than the surrounding ground and improve those worn areas but keep it moist.

I’ve used reusable tote bags for decades. It is funny to see people trying to cope without plastic bags – I’ve lived in European countries where they have pretty much gone by the wayside, but what angers me is all the plastic containers (nutritious) food is sold in. Now we have more local produce and I can take containers to the nearby Jean-Talon market.

If you use cotton bags, it is important to wash them, just with other laundry.cddddddddddddddddddddddddddddef – Livia’s contribution to the discussion!

We had an interesting evening sanding and painting skirting boards an door frames in the two rooms that will be getting new carpet laid at daughters place tomorrow. It was a team effort with Mr MS sanding, daughter and a friend painting while I provided dinner, vacuumed and did anything else that needed doing as I can’t get down on the floor. The cats were totally unconcerned by the goings on. I did get some lovely cat cuddles though, I have missed them lately.

I have several bags in the car collected over the years from the rescue organization that I support. Then, probably because I’m on some mailing list, others send me bags too.

Cool and cloudy day but so nice to have windows open listening to the birds. We could get rain but not an all day kind, just the scattered type of showers that happen in the spring/summer. The garden actually could use it, so if it doesn’t rain then Avery and I can water it a little.

    Off to the shower!

My grocery store has the option of brown paper bags, which I always choose, then use them to line my garbage cans at home with. I refuse to use plastic!! I do have a couple of the cloth kind, but of course they have specific uses – i.e. WINE BAGS! …. can never have too many of those!

oh the pics today are COA necessary. Hot and muggy here today. I got out early and did my 2.5 mile jaunt, and drank an entire smart water while doing a good fast pace walk. Much better than Sat. when I didn’t get out til almost noon – I almost had a heat stroke! Don’t know what I was thinking!

Well, today is light for me, I think I’ll go get my toes done and stop by the grocery …. feel like rumaging around for inspiration for something yummy …. have a great day all!

I love the kit with the wiggle ears, MS. I’m the only one that knows Miss Gaea has a curfew. 🙄

That’s a good walk, AV. I just finished putting down peat moss. Like you, I have to do outdoor tasks before 10.

I just saw this on Rocky Mountain PBS.

KJ, I’ll be there to get you on the cybercycle if I can find the dang thing! Last it was seen was hovering somewhere over Texas …….. MS do you remember who had it last? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm …. oh well, the Cafe kitties can give us virtural ‘pawicures’….. anyone who wants one, join KZ and I on the Cafe porch! …..

AV, it KZ methinks as I just got to Café. Although a cybercycle ride sounds like a fun plan! 😉

No one to blame but self for having “gotten into” knitting prob and going to bed at 7:45 am for like 2 hrs. *Sigh* and feelong it all day!

N is here and redid the job that I badly did assembling al my new kit earrings.

About today’s theme. New law here whereby stores are gradually no longer dispensing plastic bags. So I carry cloth bag (washable) or more likely keep a stash of reusable strong grocery bags. Or bring not sure if they’re recyclable plastic garbage can liner bags. No one pays much attention to sorting garbage in our bldg. Landlord has until end of June to advise me of his plans and then the “fun” can start. Not much point in deciding hard to do til then – hard for me.

On the meantime I’ve not been able to reach UPS for hours. Just wanting delivery person to actually ring bell when my new bed arrives which should be end of wk. And it’s being delivered to N’s as her BF has van and the thing is way heavy. Customer service is not what it should be if it ever was.

PG, you caught up with “Handmaid’s Tale”? My fave show at present.

Anyway tomorrow I can sleep in a bit and tonight, well I can’t stay up tooling around with knitting, for sure not after other things are sorta in place to hopefully stem my wakefulness.

    Well this news hit me.

We all know that I love fashion/accessories. Kate Spade, handbag designer committed suicide, age 55. Seems she had lengthy history of mental health issues. Left husband, 13 yr old daughter. I do not have any of her iconoclastic handbags, prob some knock-offs.

    Tragic.

AV,if the cybercycle was last seen over Texas then it could be with WWM or Huddy’sMama. Just put your lips together and blow and it should arrive at your place.
I am house sitting daughter’s place while their new carpet is being laid. Of course the heavens opened as the workmen arrived. It is quite cold here too with the door open. Their cats have taken refuge in a bedroom from the noise.

MS , that is what I was thinking too! WWM or HM are my usual suspects, but Fondahonda or AZDeb could be in the mix, not to mention LV ….. lol … good times!!

I enjoyed my me day, don’t get many, so back at it tmrw… have a great evening all!

Cloth wine bags are useful for other things, obviously anything else in a bottle or jar, as well as fruit. No local berries yet; when there are, I take a little plastic or glass container to Jean-Talon market, which also saves the farmers money – they usually give me a bit extra fruit, berries, little beans… I always carry at least one cloth bag or have them in my bicycle panniers.

Speaking of suicide (such a sad topic) I read a long article in La Presse (one of the local papers in French) about the very high suicide rate among veterinarians. One thing that gets to them is doing “euthanasia of convenience”, as opposed to putting an animal in pain out of its suffering. A vet friend in another city here works at a clinic that flatly refuses to do that, as well as declawing.

It seems we lose so many creative, artistic people to suicide:
Ernest Hemmingway, Sylvia Plath, Virginia Wolfe, Kate Spade and many more.

I’ve often wondered if that intense creativity makes them more susceptible. I suppose there isn’t one answer.
