Three days ago I came upon a box of stray kittens and their mother, in the parking lot of a Shilo Inn that should be in a horror movie. From what I could gain from the receptionist. The mother of the three kittens has been living in a cardboard box next to the hotel for a couple of months and being fed by the people that work at the hotel.
This cat who I have named Circe is incredibly sweet and even lets me and my mom pet her. She looks very worse for ware and is very frightened by people. The receptionist has told me that this is Circe’s second litter of kittens (that she has seen) and that the last litter that she had was 6 kittens. As you all know, it is winter, and I was informed that all of the kittens had frozen. 🙁 That said, this is her second litter and there are 3 kittens left.
In the past 3 days I have gone back to this hotel and managed to catch 2 of the three kittens (which are both in my garage next to the space heater). Their names are Eros, and Aries. 🙂 All of the kittens are about 4 to 6 weeks old and very frightened.
I am going to go back tomorrow and try to catch the last kitten, who’s name is Romeo, and the mother, Circe. The last couple night’s temperatures have been under 20 degrees F, and I am afraid the they will freeze. 🙁
Does anyone have any advice on how to catch these last two?
Since I have 2/3 of the kittens in my garage I need to begin to socialize them, I have decided to take them to my vet to get them checked out and find them homes myself.
Unfortunately there has been a slight set back with one of the kittens because it escaped from the dog kennel (that is functioning as their home for the moment) when I opened the door and I had to chase it around and catch it. So Aries is very traumatized and frightened of me. 🙁
Can anyone give me any advice on training the kittens and socializing them?
Unfortunately I cannot keep them because my family already has 3 cats, and I think that 6 would make me a borderline hoarder.
Thank you for your help. You have NO IDEA how much me and my family thank you for your help! 🙂
