Thursday – 5/11/2015 – The TDK Café Lights Up for Guy Fawkes Day

Guy Fawkes night is over but I know the fireworks will be going off for weeks yet. The fireworks have stopped now and Shadz has crawled out from under the furniture and snuggled up on my lap. As long as I am here she isn’t scared too much by the fireworks.

Morning all! …. happy Guy Fawks day/night!! ….. I don’t think I’ve ever met a cat that likes fireworks …. except maybe Venus …. they don’t seem to bother her, nor do vacuums, but then again, she beats to a different drum …. hehe

KZ, I WISH it would only get to 75 here …. we’re going up to 87 :/ ….. wait, is this November? ….

Mr. AV has ‘decided’ to start yet another home improvement project (will they ever end?!!??) …. he’s making one of our half baths into a pantry …. we need the storage space, and have 3 1/2 other baths, so it’s not needed ….. but SERIOUSLY! ….. why start construction just before the holidays ??!! AGAIN! ….. *vents* …… once again, I’ll love it when it’s done, but painful during the process …..

I’ve been growing my hair out recently to see what style I like for the wedding, and it’s in that ‘driving me crazy’ stage ….. should I cut it, or let it go until I can actually do something with it ….. decisions, decisions …… hope everyone is having a good Thursday!

Yea-we have our first snow. OK, it’s an inch but it’s still snow and high of 42f/5c. The first snow puts Miss Gaea off. After going out for a few minutes she’s now in my lap.

I like the boom tiem, KJ. When I was in Scotland, I learned about Guy Fawkes. The only thing I remember is he was a radical but a smart, charismatic leader.

I’m glad HRH has your lap to keep “you” safe during fireworks.

Electrical problems are dangerous, KZ. It would have scared the *%$@ out of me too. So why don’t you go pick out the new light kit? You know, before hubby get to it. 😉

Pre-holidays is not the time to start new projects, AV. We all hate that in-between stage because it’s frustrating. I hope you hang in until gets it longer. There are apps that, with your picture, you can put different hairstyles on you.

Wee Avery may have thought it was game when Gramma rolled down the hill with her! I have long hair, KZ. I got tired of the in between stage so I just let grow out. I wash, condition, comb and off I go. I don’t have the dedication our KJ has to hair styles. KJ says she has curly hair, I wonder what she’s looks like with long hair?

Poor old Guido – he wasn’t even the ringleader, but he suffered for being the one who took most of the blame. Not a nice ending.

Mind you – if he had succeeded in blowing up the Houses of Parliament, that wouldn’t have been a very nice ending for a lot of people!

We’ve got fireworks going off outside right now, and they’ve been at it for a while, despite the heavy rain. I think when it’s like this, people tend to set them all off in quick succession to keep the kids happy, and then they duck inside for a hot drink! But if you’re a fan you can watch out of the window as the bangs (most of ’em) and colours (not nearly so many of those) pass along the different houses.

Personally I’m not a fan of fireworks at home – there are many more injuries that way. Big organised displays are so much safer – and they look a lot better, too.

Rincewind used to watch fireworks out of the window – lightning, too, seemed to fascinate him, while Merlin ran off and hid. Now though, Merlin is less frightened – so far!

P.S. Grow that hair! If you don’t like it, you can cut it shorter very quickly. But if you cut it short and don’t like that, it’s going to take a lot longer to please you again. (I’ve had long hair since I was five . . . which is a very, very long time ago!)

We are too meet & enjoy a 5 course vegetarian dinner at local restaurant – economical too for NO meat included = cuts the cost big time!

Leela growls at any loud noise, so fireworks are out for her too. Except in TDK land, where they are pretty and a boy kitty puts his paws over her ears and she can’t hear the booms. Happy that HRH & MS are ‘protecting’ each other.
Oh boy, the growing out the hair stage. Several years back I got a new hairdresser who got me through growing my bangs out. Since then I’ve figured I’m not a bangs girl. They look good for about 2 weeks then lose their style. Been bobbing ever since! Can’t go too long as my hair is very fine and it can look stringy. Like PG, I wash, condition, rinse, comb and go.
Our second bathroom serves as a laundry/utility room plus linen & household cleaners storage, not to mention cat food station for the boys (Leela eats upstairs). I would love to make part of it a pantry. Tell Mr. AV he’s got to be in one piece for the wedding, so do be careful. That’s a direct order from TDK land! Would the grey highlights look so bad? Grey is becoming the new ‘it’ color. Dealing with hives is no fun.
Hi PG, an inch of snow is not so bad when the ground is not frozen, at least it will melt quickly. All in all, I would take November snow over January/February snow any day around here.
Oh JK, that goggie is too cute! Hope you got through the solo thing ok today. Goggie Friday is something to look forward to! Hope you get to take a day for yourself soon.
KJ, love hearing about your hairdo options and the red streaks sound like fun! Saw a neighbor this morning who noticed my pink streaks. Hey, I’m pretty straight forward but have to throw a curve out once in a while! One thing that never changes is that my earrings must all match – I’ve got 3 in each ear and am very particular about coordinating them.
