This Special Day reminds us that our hearing is vital, and needs to be protected. As an aside, do kits ever actually listen?

Can you hear me now? I think that was the most annoying catch phrase. Voices from your cats?

I live for being ignored by my cats. Do they know their names? Well, they’re not telling me or maybe I’m not listening… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Have a happy~

My cats hear me alright, but not sure they are listening all the time…only when they are hungry maybe or I’m upstairs and they are down and I call “CATS!”…they come running–“What Mother?” ๐Ÿ˜€

Rainy and damp, muggy morning here and I am drowsy because of it. There is a little wren that I can hear singing his heart out while he sits on my climbing hydrangea on the front porch. Peso, just brought me his little mouse, plopping it down in front of me. He had been singing just a few minutes ago when he picked it up, wonder why they do that?

Lol KZ, Abby sings when she totes her white kitty upstairs to down. So funny!

My cats definitely know their names, Abby being the best at coming when called. Caddy comes pretty well, Son brought us a cat caller from Africa, its supposed to sound like a wildcat ….. anyway, Mr. AV blows it every morning when he comes out on the porch to feed her, and she comes a running! Lu dancea on her hind legs, Ve just sits in the window. Each girl has a different response.

Miss Gaea does that too, KZ and AV. I think it’s her way of saying “play time.”

Sometimes, my gang might look at me but unless they want something, Pffh!
That’s cats for you and i love them!

Come to think of it AV, my cats all know their individual names too. I don’t know if mine would come if I blew a cat caller that sounded like a wildcat! ๐Ÿ˜† However, one day while on the computer, I was watching a video of some outside cats that were howling and wailing and my cats went into ‘freak out’ mode…it scared them all and they went scrappling out the door and hid. I can’t play videos like that unless I’m wearing my ear buds!!

Livia reacts very strongly to videos with meowing, howling cats or purring, mewing kittens.

On the subject of health, today is also World No Tobacco Day #notobacco

Tobacco smoking has fallen in many “First-World” countries, but has increased in poorer countries as the manufacturers seek new markets…

    Hee hee – cats listening/Not!
Know/think both Scoot & Lucky probably understands some of our conversation/voice tones ๐Ÿ˜‰
Not sure about Kiki for don’t get much reaction – esp her name – still doesn’t seem to react when I call her by it…don’t know her original name for was feral – now stray stats…hope if/when she moves in we’ll have purry progress in that area ๐Ÿ™‚
So here is my 2.5 cents worth for today’s theme:
    cat listening white
    with
    orangie listening
Take two examples of kittehs listening to universe ๐Ÿ˜€
can’t forget …I like this one the best!
    cat lalalala
    Hee heeโ€ฆ
    Back later/hope

Good afternoon all, another chilly morning but no frost at my place but lower down the hill there was definitely a frost. The sun is out off and on and we have a very nippy SW wind. Brrrr Showers are forecast for this evening with the weekend deteriorating to heavy rain. Typical as it is a long weekend, Queen’s Birthday weekend.
Cats have selective hearing. ! My dear old late Father had selective hearing too. He had impaired hearing due to his time in the air force during WWII which got wore the older he got. He finally got hearing aids which was brilliant for all – most of the time. If Mum was going on at him or he just didn’t want to hear what was going on he would turn the hearing aid down and then wink at me. ๐Ÿ˜† I kept his secret because we were so much alike. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Now I am trying to convince Mr MS to get his hearing checked as I am tired of repeating myself all the time. His hearing loss will be work related too.
Awwwww Peso, you want Meowmy to play with you. Sing her a song again and she will throw your mouse for you to fetch.
AV, fascinating reactions to the cat caller from the girls.
PG, as JJ says, ‘You’re nobody until you’ve been ignored by a cat’. Consider yourself somebody.
All the cats in my life have come to a whistle much like a dog will come to a whistle.
Lagatta I noticed posters on shop windows yesterday announcing World No Tobacco Day. We have had a good drop in smoking here since it became illegal to smoke inside any Government building, clubs, pubs, buses, schools etc. Basically anywhere inside except private homes. There is even advertising to encourage people to quit smoking in cars and anywhere children are. I must say it is really pleasant to go out for an evening and not come home reeking of cigarette smoke.
JK, love the kitty with the mobile ears. I thought I was seeing things at first. I am convinced that cats learn many words and recognise them in conversations. HRH Shadz had quite a few words she knew and would react instantly hearing them.
PG, congratulations. I quit smoking 20 years ago this November.

pussigato, moonshadow et al, my internet was down. My friend downstairs said I could use his computer, but of course I only did that to see whether clients wanted me for a job or anything official.

pussigato and moonshadow, congratulations on quitting smoking; it is very difficult and a great accomplishment. My father died of smoking when he was the age I am now (I’m a boomer). My mum lived to 98, but she never smoked.

moonshadow, we have similar measures here; also private businesses. Yes, it is pleasant not to reek of tobacco after an evening out; I rarely go to pubs any more, but even in restaurants people smoked before. In fact, people even smoked at the local YMCA, where I was teaching languages…

Moonshadow, I have a friend in France, still alive in his 90s, who was in the Resistance in Normandy during WW2, and had hearing loss not only due to action but also to the fact that it may well could have cost them their lives to seek medical attention.

pussigato, thanks for the pic of Lady Livia! That little black cat does look very much like her, and yes, she was quite literally an alley cat.
