Beautiful tree, AV! I need to wrap pretty much everything, but will do that later when the madness of “A Christmas Story” comes on. Next for me is to make AV’s frozen key lime pie. Got mother in law a nifty plate, then got the idea to give her a pie to go with it. She loves the key lime pie so much that after we had it over the summer she called me for the recipe.
Comet was running around like a nut earlier. We think he wants Christmas eggs.
Is it time to tell the annual story of the Christmas eggs?
Several years ago at Christmastime, hubby and I had a light breakfast of scrambled eggs. Shaddo approached hubby with eyes like we’ve never seen before – they shined like the eastern star as he pawed, seemingly asking for eggs.
So hubby let him have a little.
After that Shaddo was a blur, zooming around the house and sending his famous starfish ornament spinning! From the first year we got it, the starfish hung at the bottom of the tree where Shaddo spent 3 weeks of his life every year. To this day, we hang that starfish in the same spot, in case Shaddo chooses to stop by and give it a spin.

I love that story, Joan! Emily and Eko love eggs. Leo likes raw yolks…they all do.

Lovely tree, AV. Abby really is well behaved if you can manage tinsel. 🙂

I’m sitting down for a few minutes….feels so good! The inlaws will be here soon and I’ll make spaghetti (pretty easy).

Hey ECB as sychronicity would have it I have some cranberry bread here too. Of course mine is store bought, ‘way not as good as your homemade variety. Yup Chanukah was some 3 wks ago, over ’til next yr.
Feeling inspired I’m going to bake a dozen muffins for friend who likes them, I now prefer my bought ones.
I’ll ‘fess up. I’m a deplorable Meowmy. Unless it turns up (unlikely) it would seem that in my feverish re-deco yesterday I tossed Dorry’s fave toy, Robin. 🙁 He does have Cecil, the ‘nip-stuffed lion, but not quite the same. Oh dear!
AV your tree it real pretty! Which is Miss Abby’s gift?
The wind here was something srs! Let’s just say that KJ almost got blown to OZ, and I don’t the land down under just as she so aptly phrases it “across the ditch” from our MS. Quite scary at certain points. And too warm for my thicker boots.

Lovely tree, AV. The boys did do a great job. Your story is so sweet, Joan and I bet at night, Shaddo does come to play with her fishy at night. 😉 I bet Shaddo is egging Comet on (pun intended).

We had that wind for the last two days so you better put you heavy boots on.

Or find my ruby slippers, in case I do end up in OZ, PG. I do have burgundy velvet slippers, wonder if they’d do. Hmmm …

Yes JJ, if that starfish moves ever so slightly, it will not be the wind, but Shaddo letting you know that all is well in the Meadow.

Well haven’t checked this year but last year noted that they have kosher egg nog at grocery store. Bevvie, kosher or non only available at this time of year. Non-alcoholic, but kosher rum can be found ‘year-round so technically could “spice” it up myself. 😉 Considered the notion oxymoronic so tried to find definitive source linking egg nog to Xmas. Not much luck but did find this bit of trivia:

“The Eggnog Riot occurred at the United States Military Academy on 23–25 December 1826. Whiskey was smuggled into the barracks to make eggnog for a Christmas Day party. The incident resulted in the court-martialing of twenty cadets and one enlisted soldier.” (Wikipedia)

Beautiful tree AV! Just have a couple of last minute gift bags to do up, but wanted to stop by here first. Joan, I LOVE the story of Shaddo and his ornament, so sweet, I hope he stops by to give it a whirl. I actually cooked on the grill this evening. No wind (unlike last night with tornadoes and 70 MPH winds!) the moon is full and high, the road looks like a silver ribbon in front of the house. A very memorable Christmas eve unlike any I ever remember. May all of you have the Merriest of Christmases, in however fashion you choose to spend your days. A heartfelt THANK YOU to those who sent cards–they are so special to me and I cherish them. I did not get cards sent across any ocean…I will try and plan better next year. But my thoughts are with you just the same and love you just as much. KJ, I say go for the nog, can’t really say I like it or dislike it, don’t believe I’ve ever had any! Weird, huh?
Well, off to wrapping and I’m looking forward to a long soak in the tub later!

Good evening!!! Watching Hand Bell Choirs on TV. SO lovely……. My favorite shows to watch every Christmas Eve. I worked 4 hours this afternoon and it was fun! Very busy though of course! 🙂
AV, thank you for sharing your tree with us. It’s just gorgeous! Looks like my favorite kind too. Have not had a real tree for so many years. The tinsel really tops off the prettiness…..
Gavin is so sweet… He’s always SO happy to see me when I get back home. You would think I was gone for a week! He just wants hugs, kisses and loving right away and for awhile before he leaves me alone. LOL I can sure tell he really does loves me…. After that, then he wants food. LOL
    My precious baby boy!!!
It was so cute… the other day I had an older customer, a man that recently lost his wife. He joined some kind of a local matching thing and found a lovely lady that recently lost her hubby. He’s SO happy now. Made my heart happy for him. He seemed like such a sweet man and pretty cute too. LOL I told him several times how happy I was for him. She was baking all kinds of goodies for when they get together with the kids and grand kids. She has turned his whole life around. BIG Awwwwww….. Had to share that with you guys…….
Oh I missed Dolly Parton’s COAT of MANY COLORS. Friend told me it’s on tomorrow night again at 9. Must watch it!!! Did anyone see it?
Joan, I LOVE the story of Shaddo and his starfish ornament. Thanks for sharing it again!
Thinking of you all…. wishing everyone a beautiful night….
