Scrabble was created in 1938 by Alfred Mosher Butts (no ifs, ands, or … LOL!) Just get out the old board game, dust it off, and play a few rounds of this or other games in the Café. Be warned – kits cheat!

Crossover pic – scrabble on the wildside.

The ex-cyclone Cook is coming on to land here in my area and it’s wild. Huge surf and storm surge, winds and pounding rain. There are evacuations all along the coast areas and even inner harbour. I have to admit to being a little nervous about this storm and hope it passes on through as quickly as they are indicating it will. Gee, something just made a loud thump but can’t see anything down or blown over.
HRH has come downstairs, nibbled her dinner, had her meds and investigated the basement as a toilet option. She is quite unsettled by the noises from outside.

WOW ! The storm came in fast and furious and raced past in about 90 minutes of howling winds sideways rain. We had to go out in the middle of it too and there was flooding across roads, trees down, power cuts and yachts beached. It’s eerily quiet now and I am happier as is HRH. Forgot to add that Airy arrived not long before the storm hit. Daylight will reveal a nasty mess over a lot of the country I suspect.

Good morning! Glad you weathered the storm, MS!

Vowel movement…ha…so clever. I always enjoy the pics, KJ, MS and PG. The other day younger son said, “We haven’t seen the daily kitten pictures in a while. (The cafe pics…we rarely visit the front page). I need to see them.” So we popped in and took a look. :).

Things are holding steady with the cats. It’s like they got 70% better the day after their fight, but stalled out there. It worries me things will never get back to normal. It’s a very stressful way to live. Eko and Leo are allowed to sleep together out in the living area now since any problem with them usually starts with Emily. She sleeps with hubby and me.

Joan, to answer your question from the other day…we do use calming spray. I’ve been applying it to soft surfaces daily. We’ve used the plug ins many times but I can never really tell how well they’re working and they’re pricey, so… I do think the spray works….doesn’t solve all problems, but helps. Emily is just so reactive against Eko. But they have moments when they’re totally normal and relaxed together. Hopefully we’ll have more of those.

I love that things slow down a bit for us on Thursdays. I’ll keep working on leaf clean up….been doing a little bit every day. I’m going to put chicken tortilla soup together in the crock pot too.

    Happy Thursday.

    So Shadz weathered the storm?

Pascal season greetings to all. Here is an interesting article about the relation between Passover (Pesach) and Easter, which in Romance languages has names connecting it to the former: in French, Pâques (the Christian holiday, Pâque (the Jewish holiday); in Italian and Spanish Pasqua, Pascua for both, though Jewish communities in Italy and in Spain and Latin America (very large Jewish communities in Argentina and Brazil) often use the original Hebrew name.

    Passover and Easter

Enjoy your holiday if you celebrate either, enjoy the long weekend and the coming of spring in any event, and the autumnal harvest season for Dailykitteners in the Southern Hemisphere. Raise a glass of wine if you imbibe, and a glass of sparkling water or something else pleasant if you don’t.

And Livia reminds me that once her ancestors were worshipped… And cats came from a place where they could almost always bask in the sun.

Good morning – Scrabble is a fun game, haven’t played it in a while. It would be fun to play nowadays using Cheezeburger language as well as modern acronyms. Yep, that would mean ‘elebendy’ is a word!
Glad you weathered the storm ok, MS. Probably lots of branches down, hope there’s not too much debris and minimal damage to your area. It’s unnerving when you look to the cat for reassurance during a storm only to see the cat is nervous too!
Hi ECB. Yes those plug-ins are expensive, and have to be replaced every month or so. When niece’s cats throw up she knows it’s time to change the plug-in. Ooh, chicken tortilla soup in the slow cooker, hmmm. Today would be good for something like that here.
Thanks for the article, Lagatta. Leela likes Livia, she appreciates a kitty who has her priorities straight!

Good morning everyone! MS, sooo glad that you weathered the storm safely and that everyone arrived at your home safe and sound too!!

Thank you to everyone who prayed for my niece cat, but her life on this earth is done. 😥 She had surgery this morning and the vet found a tumor on the outside of her intestine up by the exit of the stomach and said it was malignant. Instead of putting her through more agony, my sister opted to let her stay asleep. They are devastated, and my heart is broken for them.

I have an appointment this afternoon with my ortho surgeon, just a follow up visit after my surgery. All is well–my bad hip is now my ‘good’ hip!! I’m looking forward to asking him if I’m allowed to do certain things outside in my gardens!

So very sorry KZ, such a sad outcome. {{{Hugs}}} for your sis and family and of course for yourself.

Hmmm … yeah, major differences between Easter and Passover. Start off with holidays being related to totally different religions. And if we like, we can also add in Ostara, a Saxon Spring Goddess, with connections to tradition of Easter bunny. Lots of stuff on I’Net if one wishes to peruse further.

Not quite spring-like weather-wise here as in quite chilly in early am. And I’m quite comfy in latest wool T-neck, so don’t think that we’ve seen the last of low temps.

    Afternoon all!
Stay safe MS, a cyclone is much like our hurricanes … they just spin in the opposite direction! Glad HRH is in,

Sorry for your niece cat ….

EC, I hope your crew calms down …. I walked a tight line between Cuddles and Abby …. I had to keep them separated always, the Queen never would accept poor little Abby ….

Lagatta, that’s an interesting article, and we do celebrate that holiday ….

Time for me to start wrapping my day up, have a good one everyone!

Thank you for your condolences. She was such a sweet, little petite black cat. Her name was KiKat (keekat) and had a hard start to her life. Sis rescued her when she was pregnant with kittens. She called me and asked what to do, since she was semi-feral. She started feeding her and then took her in so she could have her kittens in safety. The rest is history as my sis kept her and found good homes for the kittens. This is such a shock, as it came on so suddenly.

Aww, so sorry about KiKat, KZ. Glad she found a loving home when she needed one.

That makes me even sadder, as she was just like my Livia, a tiny black cat who was also living rough. Hugs.

So very sorry for the loss of KiKat, KZ. Condolences to your sister and family.
    JK, that pic is adorable!
It’s a bit chilly here too, though being borderline, I didn’t have the wood burner going till a short time ago. Leela is pleased.
Thank you for the dinner idea, ECB! Slow cooker chicken tortilla soup came out fabulous!
Went to the garden center today for some garden soil and wound up splurging on an outdoor cat statue, it’s about 12 inches long. It’s in the pose of a cat stretching with its butt in the air. It reminds me of Huey, always ‘mooning’ me!

pussigato, for some reason I can’t access that site, but it might be my computer configuration. Will try again later.

I bought a little frozen duck, from the “Utility” shelf of a local duck products shop. Often the poor dead things are missing a leg joint or a wing, but this one seems to just be small. I’ll be braising it this weekend. I don’t eat a lot of meat, practically no red (mammalian) meat, but sometimes I crave a bit of animal protein, and this will do me for the week, with a lot of vegetables.

Can’t access the site either. 🙁

Anyway, opened tomorrow’s Café so staff and agency kits can get set up without my dubious suppurvision LOL.

Fact is tonight has presented me with an upset stomach which is very not good as while tea would be an option, well toast, not until hol ends next wk. Going to see if some yogurt settles me, and very drained to point where I nearly fell asleep in bath. The rest of the details are TMI. Hopefully will feel better by am.

Rice is good too, but that depends on your attitude to kitniyot. Plain white rice.

I do hope you feel better soon. Usually, horrid as those episodes are, they don’t last long.
