This Special Day recognizes the purrson who works all of the time … even during holidays. It’s just not in their nature to relax. Doesn’t look like kits have this problem!

Workaholic! I used to be one but I’m not working anymore. Even when I volunteer I go overboard *sigh*. At least, I’m consistent. πŸ˜›
I do love the multitasking cat!

This was a not fun day. Prepare yourself because this may hurt you as much as it did me. I smashed my right middle and ring fingers pulling down the garage door. Other than ice, elevation and arnica, nothing else to be done. As the day has passed, I’m getting a queasy stomach. The neighborhood is alight with illegal fireworks and the smell isn’t helping me. The kits aren’t happy, either.
    Going to bed-Nighty night

    Have a happy~

Oh PG, I couldn’t help but wince while reading about your accident and injury. Owwww you must be in such pain and the fireworks can not be helping your mood either. Healing Vibes for you and peace from the noise you the cats and you.
The sun is going down now as is the temperature so it’s time I prepared dinner and set the fire.

Paws up! Workaholic here too! And not “thanked for it” either! πŸ™„

PG, that’s some injury! Did you see a doc? Take pain meds? Hope that it heals repidly.

Awww PG, I hope this morning your fingers feel better…but knowing the way of smashed fingers well….I’m sending healing vibes and sympathy your way. Jeez, that made me cringe. I hope you didn’t say any cuss words…sorry, I couldn’t help it cuz I know the neighbors would have more than likely heard me!

I don’t think I’m a workaholic…I just do what has to be done and try to enjoy it, or grit my teeth and do it anyway.

My air bag deployed with the pic of the little newborn kitten…oh my goodness! and I love the ‘gutter snipes’ kitty!! πŸ˜†

Beyond srsly hot outside – even I who like heat, developed a heat headache. I’m not fond of water drinking, but I complied with someone’s “strong” recommendation and downed a bottle on way home.

Supposedly cooling off some. Hope this is true, as gym is having some planned repairs done, from end of next Thurs. for about a wk there will be no A/C in Cycle Studio. They’ll probably have more or less useless fans. And/or I might be getting a private class as I can work out without A/C.

Anyway quite close to renewing lease. Landlord came down to 1.5% increase, and rent is quite low as I discovered through my rsch. Negotiating rent is my style.

He wants place painted all one shade of “warm cream” with “no red in the mix” – anyone know what this means? And white ceilings. I actually wanted a neutral shade anyway but it could cost more to cover up rust and deep blue walls. Once I confer with painter and get estimates landlord will make ultimate decision and pay some of the difference as well as pay for paint.

There are a zillion shades of “warm cream” – and that’s from the one co. where painter gets discount. Who knew?

KZ, farmers aren’t workaholics – they just work blody hard!

PG, that sounds dreadful… glad you signed of with that wee bean.

KJ, that sounds like a reasonable rent increase, but the warm cream stuff is weird. We repainted my flat all white – a nice white, not bluish. I love colour, but like white walls as they remind me of the Mediterranean. I doubt very much that he will complain as you repaint it white (though not blue-white) or off-white. As for darker walls, were those your initiative, his or that of an earlier tenant? There aren’t any hard or fast rules, but in general the tenant must restore the sitution upon arrival – though I know many tenants who have repainted things that were painted goth black or bordello pink… (I have worked at a tenants’ association). I’m sure you are a sterling tenant so frankly he has nothing to b*tch about).

I love the multitasking cat, but he reminds me of old-fashioned in and out boxes.

It is still bloody hot, but there is a pleasant breeze.

Livia is sleeping beneath her oak armchair in our office. She is still a puddle of cat, but has livelied up considerably! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyFmNPoDbDU Bob – lively up yourself!

PG, is your injured hand your dominant one? Like, how do you manage taking of your crew, etc. Really hope that each day finds the aching abating and normalcy returning.

Lagatta, the colourful walls were in no way my idea. I don’t plan to get into a back/forth situation, and know which brand painter that I have in mind to engage uses. Warm cream I think is nicer than it might sound. I think he means not quite bright white, so as to have some contrast with pure white ceilings. I’ll get the painter’s input, email some swatches (still stunned by the amount of “warm cream” variations are available). If landlord finds costs prohibitive I guess we’ll keep the same colours as per now. Anyway a neutral shade would be a nice backdrop for my pictures and framed embroidery. In this regard I’m not all that hard to please.

And thanks, I am a very good tenant. And so is Dorry LOL.

This is true! In my last apt the living room was lipstick red! The bathroom was solid black! Everything got re-painted to off-white before I moved in. Previous tenant also left a very large “interesting” painting. Which went directly to trash. The canvas was in good condition and went to an art hobbyist.

Thanks for all your concern. I saw the Nurse this morning and we decided they weren’t broken so no X-ray just ice, elevate and Tylenol. My fingers feel better but will be bruised another week or so. Typing is challenging too. KZ-I didn’t swear. All I remember thinking is getting my fingers out of the fricking door. Thankfully, I didn’t just yank them out.

I’m glad your lease is settled. That one major stressor gone. My walls are a latte cream paint so it should be easy to find a warm cream. Many hardware/paint stores have color cards so why don’t pick up the paint? White ceilings? Even with a lighter wall paint, it’s going to look silly. Maybe ganja green?

    He he he
Good afternoon all, another beautiful sunny day here after a cold but not frosty start.
PG, I hope today that your pain is more bearable.
KZ, many people think farmers are workaholics but they aren’t really, they just have to do the work when it needs doing because is is usually about animal welfare or crops that won’t wait and they live at work.
KJ, I was just reading that there have been 33 heat related deaths in Quebec and most of them in Montreal. That is terrible, they say that most are single men over 50 living alone without AC. It also explains how Montreal is a ‘heat island’, referring to an environmental phenomenon caused by a lack of vegetation and an abundance of concrete. I hope that cooler weather arrives for you soon. Oh heck, no AC in the cycle studio would be unbearable.
Warm cream without red in it? ? I hope your painter can help with this.
PG, that be be a relief just knowing your fingers aren’t broken, and I cringed again at the idea of them being stuck. Glad you didn’t yank them out though. LOL ganga green. Would that be something assisting you with pain now I wonder. πŸ˜‰
Something we all know about, cats and puters.

PG, I hope your fingers heal quickly! I smashed my thumb in a refrig door as a teen and my nail got black and fell off! It was painful and gross!

I’m sorry my Fla heat may have whiffed y’alls way …. (tutu practice might have come into play) *hangs head in shame* … lol

My kits are chill, raining here, so Caddy is porched; Abby is currently on my lap. Have a great night all!

PG, that’s good news that nothing’s broken, but still sh—OUCH!

KJ, your original colour scheme sounds like our house was when we bought it. Mid-purple, dark red, lime green, bright blue, teal, pumpkin, brown, pink – and every inside colour used on the front door. Apparently the agent had suggested the place needed brightening up with a fresh coat of paint. Fortunately the ceilings had been left white. We repainted the walls a lemony sort of cream and then promptly covered most of them with floor-to-ceiling book shelves, with the result that, taking the one facing my desk as an example, they have short vertical stripes in black, orange, white, brown, bright turquoise, pea-green, pink, yellow, grey (several shades of, but not 50), light blue, dark blue, mid-blue, purple,…

Oh yes, computers and cats. Love the link. Often I’m trying to type with 6 kg of tabby sitting on my left wrist. If he wants attention he sits on the mouse instead, and bites if I try to move it.

Yes, it is intriguing that most of the dead here were men, as once one gets to a certain age (which is not a terribly old one) there is a preponderance of women. And it is not because men here are asbestos miners or loggers any more.

I wonder if men who are retired (or had to stop working due to ill health) tend to isolate themselves more than women, though I hate generalising. I remember when working at the neighbourhood association, there were many single men living in studio apartments on a certain street, and few of them cooked. There was a “community kitchen” where people could get a nutritious meal for a modest price, and it attracted mostly that clientele. On the other hand, immigrant women were able to cook up a storm on a slender budget, even though they were working in very hard jobs as well as often being the only parent caring for the kids.

That was 30 years ago and now I know many men who take pride in their cooking, but that might not be the case in all milieux.

Livia certainly demands what she needs! As well as her water bowl in the kitchen, she has another on the back porch (two storeys up from the garden). It is cooler now and she has come back to life, but after I finish my glass of water, I’m going back to bed for a bit.
