Today is a sticky day. Celebrating a time-honoured fave sandwich spread. Supposedly a “fun” project is making one’s own peanut butter.

I once tried making my own peanut butter. Using a coffee bean grinder. Not realizing that one has to use some oil (I think) and use proper machine (I now know.) The noise that the grinder made as it died was not pretty.

KJ, why am I not surprised at your attempts to make peanut butter. ๐Ÿ˜† I am sorry I couldn’t help laughing at your description of the sound your coffee grinder made. Peanut butter can clog up a mouth so your poor grinder didn’t stand a chance. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
    shudder

I like peanut butter way too much so I don’t buy it- BUT on the odd occasion I o buy it it must be crunchy peanut butter. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

MS, tks so much for that info re peanut butter ad nails (shudder). ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
I only go for crunchy peanut butter. Goes well on cinnammon raisin bagel with honey.

I don’t make it because there is a spice, nut and other bulk items shop near me that grinds their own, fresh – nothing but peanuts. I use it mostly for sauces for noodles or in a kind of African stew, Mafรฉ, from Senegal – I dislike straight peanut butter on the roof of my mouth. It is a valuable protein food.

It is often made with chicken; this version is vegan.
https://lydiasflexitariankitchen.com/senegalese-inspired-vegetable-peanut-stew/ To keep it vegan but add more protein, you could add chickpeas.

There are many chicken mafรฉ recipes online; I’ve had it in Amsterdam served by some very talented Senegalese ladies attending a seminar I was facilitating.

Southeast Asian noodles with peanut sauce are another great meatless – and vegan, if you don’t add fish sauce , recipe.

    And these are also CHEAP!

I saw that one about Mr. Muggles – ewww!

    Efuuryone it’s almost Friday!

I got out of bed (7:30), the sun is shining and this meant brekkie time. Miss Gaea was enjoying herself outside until the garage trucks came by. The sun has a “craziness effect” on LilBit and Miss Gaea because they have been running amok for the past two days. LilBit is watching the humidifier.

I love peanut butter…with jam or honey or on its own. Sometimes, when I can’t decide if I want a snack, I have a spoonful of peanut butter. The crunchy isn’t for me though.

It looks like a cold, wet weekend for the eastern seaboard. We’re sending bunches of warm fuzzies to you. Be safe and cuddly, my friends. Great Britain and Ireland are getting slammed again but it’s a polar vortex (?).

All my hopes and wishfulness are for naught as I gots to take my car to the shop. It’s still overheating. *sigh*

    Have a happy~

“Peanut Butter ….. I hates it” …… my feelings exactly! …. it’s a texture thing, plus it likes to pair with those evil yellow fruits …. ick!

I have had the worst ‘crick’ in my neck for a week now, and it’s making me crazy! ….hurts so bad ๐Ÿ™
I switched pillows twice, tried sleeping on my other side, no use! Honestly, I think it’s a pinched nerve from working between 3 monitors all the time! … might have to reserve a massage for this weekend, maybe they can work it out!

The Florida Strawberry Festival starts today, and even though I don’t like Strawberries, they have a wonderful fair with great shows, art exhibits, baking, growing & farm animal showings, and of course fair food ๐Ÿ™‚ Taking Son and GF there tomorrow!

Happy Purim to you too KJ, I love the book of Esther! Have a great evening all!

Yes, Esther rocks. Happy Purim. Cycling home, I saw families celebrating it. There were vehicles (cars and small buses) piled up so I had to dismount and walk a bit. A nice young man said “sorry”, and I responded “no problem, Happy Purim”. It is nice to see a holiday celebrating overcoming oppression that is so joyous… and also that gives pride of place to an intrepid woman.

I also like peanut butter with fresh greens. I like the flavour, but not the astringent texture, and don’t eat anything as sweet as jam or jelly. We’ve made sushi with them, and other flatbread roll-ups.

Funny, I love strawberries, but only our small local ones, and those are stil several months off. Also our raspberries and blueberries. Mmmmmm.

Yay it’s Friday afternoon. Okay, it’s raining a bit but what the heck it’s almost the end of the working week. Oh yeah, Mr MS works 7/7 and by association I do too.
    For AV.
Oh AV, I have had a nasty crick in the right side of my neck for all this week but it has almost gone, just a slight soreness where it was. I slept badly on my pillow, probably restless with the humidity but several good workouts at the gym have loosened it right up. Massage ! ! Definitely get that massage. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm strawberries.
PG, LOL at fun fact #1102. That’s my kind of humour, sarcastic science. ๐Ÿ˜†
As for Mr Muggles well, I live far far away and thought I could take the risk of posting that one. We may have said ewwwwww but on some small level we had a smile after the shudder. ๐Ÿ™‚
Darn ! I forgot the rabbit rabbit thing. Next month. Yeah, right. ๐Ÿ™„
    Happy Purim to those celebrating.
Went fruit/vegetable shopping and WOW ๐Ÿ˜ฏ is all I can say. Because of the ex tropical cyclone Gita’s dumping of rain the price of leafy green and other vegetables has gone through the roof and to infinity and beyond. Cauliflower are $10 each. I kid you not. I saw an sweet old lady pick one up and I thought I bet she doesn’t realise the price so I edged over to her and quietly suggested she look at the price on the blackboard. Well, she looked up at the board and dropped that cauli like it had burned her hand and uttered ‘shit’ at the same time. She profusely thanked me and then apologised for her language. Mum and I were almost in hysterics once we got back to the car. Thank goodness celery is coming into season and is cheap and also for frozen vegetables and that my zucchini plants are prolific. So many families will find fresh vegetables are way out of reach at these prices.
Beautiful proof that it is Friday.

Oooh! The cat’s eyes are mysterious and beautiful. Dorry and I have matching eyes. ๐Ÿ™‚ Used to be told that green eyes meant that a purrson was jealous by nature. Right! ๐Ÿ™„ From same file as “blondes have more fun”.

I forgot the “rabbit, rabbit” thing too!

Now I’m going to bed to sleep on the decision as to whether to order a pr of awesome Dr. Martens “dress blue” boots. Brand new from ebay and price is not too high. Plus company is in Israel, a country that I love to support, so there’s that factor. I’ll give it some thought … but not for too long, ’cause even though my small size is not likely to sellout, you never know!

Dr Martins are good walking shoes/boots as well. My feet are average length, so it is hard to find shoes on sale, although they make more of the middle sizes than the short and long ones.

Ha, my black hair has been turning “blonde” with age… Especially on top; my temples and back remain very dark…
