JBBM, hope things go better for you. Joan when it comes to Dorry and his “virtual” love life, being no expert, I try to stay out of it LOL. The snow your getting might be headed our way. I do not look forward to awakening to a white “unfluffy” view.

Yeah, it’s cold here too: started out at 27 degrees this morning and now down to 16! Brrrrrr!
Loved Kilroy’s lions in the leaves, that could easily be posted on the poetry thread, but so much cuter w/ pictures.
AV, if you check in later, what’s picadillio? Sounds interesting!

Hey PC – so we can commiserate about the weather LOL. I’m using my innate power over the elements to keep the snow at bay LOL.

Buttons, teens will be teens, even kitty teens *sigh*. As when I’d call V-E-T with some non-issue or another and be told “Dorry’ll grow out of it.” Do they have anything like Thanksgiving in Ireland? Not sure about UK. We have Thanksgiving in Canada but it’s in October and in no way the celebration that it is in US. Me, I’m getting ready for my holiday, Hanukkah, this year same time as Thanksgiving, but holiday lasts for 8 days. Tried out my Menorah (for the candles) for placement/decor, then had to put it back in cupboard lest Dorry takes a swipe at it which would be very not good (shards of glass on floor, me ion panic mode LOL). JK started thread on this holiday which I think is ‘way cool, I like to find out about other peep’s holidays as well.

Doesn’t look like NS is in the works, quiet night, so I’m back to watching “mindless” TV show and trying to make some inroads in my knitting as sweater season is definitely here.

    Guess I am chopped liver.

Basket this week is unbelievable! Using the head of lettuce for salad with my lasagna–with fresh vine tomatoes, cucumber, and carrot! 6 HUGE potatoes, 2 gigantic yams, 2 heads of celery, 6 of the tomatoes, bag of carrots, 2 cucumbers, huge bag of red grapes, 8 bananas, 6 apples, and a melon–I haven’t opened the add on of hard squash yet–dinner first!

SM that sounds like a wonderful basket 🙂

We don’t have any thanksgiving here KJ honestly I don’t think anyone even used cranberry sauce with their turkey until a few years ago..

I’m ashamed to say I know nothing about Hanukkah . Only that it is a Jewish religious holiday.

Buttons you have some might great celebrations in your country that we do not have! A beauty of TDK that we can celebrate and learn other traditions and customs from all over the world!

Buttons there’s absolutely no reason to be ashamed – there’s so much that I don’t know about other peep’s cultures/traditions that it’s astounding. JK provided some terrific info, but FYI here’s a “wiki” explanation of what is a holiday with a historical theme. Along with some nice pics.

Kitties and lit candles don’t go well together – guess that applies to xmas trees/lights as well:

My menorah (plan to take a pic on the last day when it is fully lit – should be quite pretty IMHO)

Hi again. I like learning about each others’ holidays too. “TDK”, being worldwide, has such a variety of holidays and celebrations, and it’s so cool to hear about them all.
As far as the “TDK” agency kitties are concerned, Thanksgiving has sort of unofficially started this weekend because of the recipe-tests and tastes. Also, most cats like any excuse to eat food! (Comet is an exception; I find it astonishing that he isn’t all that food-motivated.)
I’m making mashed potatoes (no broth in the potatoes, for there is a vegetarian among us), stuffing, gravy, creamed corn, maybe carrots and apple crisp. Brother is putting a turkey in mom’s oven; we will converge at her place. He will probably get cheese and crackers and veggies and dip too. (Ooh, just remembered something *puts dinner rolls on shopping list*.) Sister will make an eggplant dish and she makes great desserts, and niece makes a delicious cranberry pudding and will probably provide the wine. Hubby will be getting apple cider fresh from the mill. Mom was talking about going to a place around here called Ashley Farms to get some pies. She used to make them herself, of course, but doesn’t anymore.
Let’s see, I think that covers it! Glad I plan to head up the mountain early on Wednesday, will be busy!
Oh almost forgot. I have Thanksgiving shaped pasta and thought I would cook that and add cheese sauce. We all love mac & cheese!

Joan that sounds wonderful. I am making caramelized sweet potatoes with pecans, green bean casserole, scalloped corn, and daughter is making breads and fresh pumpkin pie. We are going to a friends house this year! Thanksgiving with family and friends is wonderful!!

And I will be cooking all sorts of wonderful items for dinners leading up to the big day as I have a large basket!! Thinking of making an apple pie tomorrow!

SM, loved hearing about all the goodies in your basket! WOW, sounds wonderful! I’ll be waiting to see what’s in the add on of squash! What type(s) did you get? I LOVE squash!
What gifts did you and your daughter get for your angels this year? We have a coat drive at work and I cannot believe HOW MANY coats we have collected already! We also have a bin for food, and another one for Toys for Tots. We usually get the angel tree too, but I haven’t been in the area where it is, lately. So sad the large amount of names on it. 🙁 This community is VERY giving though. 🙂

I have a package of tri-color pasta that’s shaped like turkeys! I also have one with bunnies (forgot to make that around Easter) and cat paws!

BB I opened the box–not the same as what they got last week. 6 butternut squash, 2 spaghetti squash, and 2 gigantic acorn squash. Sad because last week they got pumpkin. Daughter makes amazing pumpkin pie!
I will enjoy cooking with it all though!!

Turkey shaped pasta! Cat paw shaped pasta! WOW! Suppose I could ask at my grocery store. *manager gives KJ a look when she asks for cat paw shaped pasta and directs her to pet food section. No, I mean for people, she replies* Whatever, not in Canada I’d say. On that note good night all!
