When the weather gets warmer, the outdoors beckons us to have fun in the sun. Local parks have finally come out from under the pall of cloud gray skies, and picnics can begin in earnest! The word ‘picnic’ is thought to have first been used by Tony Willis in 1692, and from that point forward everyone from the working class to the upper crust have been fascinated with taking their repast outside under the sky. I’m not sure if kits like picnics.

It was too hot to picnic today but if I go out to the river it’s nice and cool. Hmmm….

    Have a happy~

Didn’t get back to the Cafe until now. Went to work with Mr MS and he was kind enough to let me rake gravel most of the day. 🙄 😆
I didn’t mind. It was nice to be away from home out in the country and interacting with the birdlife, even if it was cold and then wet.

The rescue of the 12 Thai boys and coach trapped in the cave system has begun. It is a very dangerous rescue and my thoughts are with them. Positive Vibes for all the rescuers and rescuees for a safe arrival for all at the surface.

    Good Sunday morning all!

MS, good to see you! Yes, I am on pins and needles with this rescue…I can’t imagine having a child in that cave. I would be pressing someone to drill a freaking hole in the ground and I’ll go down and get my kid out. And as for the guy that took them down there….”hold my beer”.

It’s been beautiful here for the last two days–sun, low humidity, and temps in the high 70’s. It’s going to heat up again the rest of the week, but that’s July in Ohio.

I has a sad this morning. Mr. KZ came home and told me that a couple we know well were in a motorcycle accident on Friday night. They have one of those 3 wheeled motorcycles, and a car hit them from behind. He is fine, but his wife was killed. Just like that she is gone. I am stunned and devastated. When she left home that night I’m sure she had planned to do many things that evening and in the future. They have two beautiful daughters the same ages as ours. I can’t believe how short life is for some of us. 😥

I’m sorry to hear about your friend, KZ. You never know when it’s your “turn” and I hope she had great life.

I don’t understand the logistics of getting the kids out of the cave. Paws crossed

A skunk announced it was strolling by…Ack!

I just heard that 6 of the 12 kids are out of the cave. Yea

The husband is fine physically but in other ways must be going through a horrible ordeal, and will doubtless feel guilty, though of course their trip was a choice they made together. And has to go on being a dad…

Yes, hoping all the boys and their coach get out safe and sound – I don’t understand why they went into that cave – was there a storm that stranded them?

And thoughts for the family and comrades-in-arms of the former Thai Navy Seal who died in the rescue attempt.

The heatwave here has ended – it is hot, but pleasantly so, with lower humidity. Good time for a picnic, but in a shady spot. Though one of my friends is a sun worshipper. I prefer to be under a large tree. Oh, I love the sun, but give me a tree, an awning or a pergola.

Doing some housework I couldn’t do in the heatwave…

    KZ, very sad news.

Lagatta, from what I saw on I’Net the boys and their coach got trapped in cave when they entered it having “decided to explore it.” Sounds much like the BC trio who were killed playing daredevil in some falls. I will say no more.

Going to get heat up again and well, I enjoy intense heat.

I don’t do picnics. Why sit outside with flies, bugs and such fighting over one’s noms? Moreover I’m not made for sitting on the hard ground, picnic cloth or not. When we had our mega heat wave I actually saw peeps eating in outdoor Cafés while the restos featuring A/C were empty. Don’t get it. I’m so not an outdoorsy grrrl. Give me an indoor mall anyday.

Note that as per the original “Dejeuner sur l’Herbe” it’s the grrrl kitts who are nekked! Hmmm …

Found out that our spin classes will be cancelled end of week for 1 week due to some long-needed roof repairs and toxic chemicals being used. Sensing that not much thought was put into relocating the bikes, I wrote a KJ-style email to higher-ups. Sure can DIY and in fact work out harder on my own, but I’m just that tired of members being at the end of the list of concerns. No plans to tell others as per usual, I’m the only one who even attempts to change things.

Tomorrow real estate agent who lied about me (not good!) is bringing someone buy in pm. Wonder if she knows that I just signed on until Dec. 2019. She’ll for sure find out tomorrow. 😉

The coach was the responsible adult though, in charge of underage boys. He should never have let them “explore” an unknown cavern. So far, at least one experienced rescuer has died due to the coach’s foolishness.

I like picnics, but in places where there are proper picnic tables such as on Mont-Royal, or closer to my place, in Jarry Park (where there are a lot of athletic facilities, but also a zone for picnics with tables and lots of trees. Also at the Botanical gardens, with a white awning, like a shade tent.

I’m not outdoorsy either, but I don’t care for malls. Prefer shopping streets.

Good afternoon – picnics are a part of life for me. Not the blanket on the grass kind, but the eat at the outside table kind. Watermelon chunks taste better outside!
I’m so sorry about your friend, KZ. What a shock and how sad to think of unfulfilled plans.
Spent the day at the beach with bff. It’s sunny and breezy, making for a nice day to sit lakeside.
Hubby is going to grill. Purrhaps I’ll drag the picnic stuff out and enjoy this day some more!

It is one of the most beautiful caves in the world and a tourist landmark.
Unfortunately with Monsoon rains, it’s hard to predict when it’s safe to be in.

Why am I not surprised you don’t like picnics, KJ?

PG, I’d be surprised if you were surprised! 😆

Same reasoning as to why I don’t get how a balcony (which I don’t have) is a major condo selling point. Considering that in some units in my bldg (the ones facing main street) peeps are not allowed to BBQ. To sit out in the not so fresh air and add to one’s hazeling cleaning up pigeon droppings. Why?

Is your hand getting better? Is your crew being thoughtful and considerate as you recover? Then again, they’re kits!

Guts very upset again. Appt next wk to discuss, ideally come up with plan.

And last night stayed up until near dawn focussing on a knitting issue – I never seem to learn that past a certain hr nothing meaningful gets accomplished. *Sigh*

Lots of non-issue issues to be dealt with this wk. Starting with real estate agent bringing someone by to check out my place. Hope they make visit short. Although it is sorta fun getting compliments on decor. Going to catch a bit of “Handmaid’s Tale” and head to bed.
