No Diet Day is just that – a day with no dieting. On this holiday we’re free to let loose and enjoy one day of glorious freedom.

It’s also become a day when we recognize that photo shopped images found in fashion and beauty magazines have been marked as a direct cause of a rising instance of eating disorders among the youth. Celebrating No Diet Day is best done by recognizing that your own body is beautiful exactly as it is. De-emphasize your efforts to shed weight to look a particular way and continue with efforts to live a healthier lifestyle altogether.

You notice how week 2 cat gets and loses a white tux collar for week 3?

Hmmm … theories abound, as eating disorders were first identified in medical books which pre-dated fashion mags by about 300 yrs. Best I say no more.

BTW, pleeze assure Miss Moppet that Dorry apurreciates skinny grrls – having know no other kind! 😉

Awww, kitty asleep in the kibbles…squeeeee!

My cats love food. I never feed them enough, or often enough, but they love their kibbles, which they get as one meal during the day. Of course it seems to stick with them longer for some reason, but when I open the cupboard and start scooping–wherever they are, they come running at full speed!

This is a no diet day for me too as we have a baby shower to attend. Hope there are good eats and some sweet treats there too! 😆

LOL at the pics and theme today! The kitty on the WTF scale made me LOL! …. Dau sent Mr. AV a new ‘fit scale’, it weighs you, figures your BMI, % of body fat, etc. and tracks your weight golds – works with an app on his new apple watch that I got him for Christmas …. he loves it! We all put out info. in it, and even though she’s in Delaware and we’re in Fla. they can track each other’s progress … it’s really cool! ….

I wonder what the stats would show if you put the watch on a cat for a day …. LOL, probably funny that they are WAY too sedentary and over the top % body fat!

Son landed in Istanbul and is headed to Israel this evening … I get 10 days to plump Lu and Ve up (he thinks I feed them too much/often – KZ, we can’t help ourselves, can we?) …. and Mr. AV will be supervising the reno of his new home …. funny how we become ‘staff’ to not only our cats, but also to our children …. purrfect example, on the way to the airport Son says ‘oh I forgot to get some cash at the bank before’ …. so there goes everything in mine and Mr. AV’s pockets ($150) ….. *sighs* millenials! LOL

That fit scale would be great, especially for someone training, as muscle weighs more than fat so people can get in better shape and lose clothing sizes without much of a weight drop.

I’m making a very nutritious salad with tiny black beluga lentils, finely chopped flatleaf parsley, fine slices of sweet red pepper, green onions and other things. There’s a lot of parsley, like a taboulé except for the substitution of the lentils for bulghur. A dish that could be at home in Turkey and in Israel. We actually have the appropriate sun today!

    Aww, just one sammich…
Happy Sunday all! Ooh, enjoy the yummy treats at the shower, KZ. At the very least there will be cake.
That fit scale sounds cool. The scale I have is from the old homestead. Vintage from the 60’s!
I’m fighting the crud and haven’t had much of an appetite for the past couple of days. This morning, though, hubby went out and came home with breakfast sandwiches. Taylor ham, egg and cheese and bacon, egg and cheese on hard rolls. A nice treat on a rainy Sunday morning!

JJ, I hope that the crud leaves you before it sets in. Nice of hubby to go out and pick up something to perk up your appetite.

I actually napped this pm and so I’m just a little bit fuzzy-minded now. But I think I must’ve needed it. Dorry joined me!

Plus my more or less fave (and toughest) spin instructor is subbing tomorrow and Tues, and then it’s her reg class Wed. Even though all my classes are tough, hers are prob the most challenging. She has rep for liking a purrson or not. And if not, it’s quite evident. She likes me. Phew! 😉 Basically she has no time for peeps who are not there to give all they’ve got. I can only imagine what I’d be like as an instructor!

Good afternoon all, sunny but stiff cool wind. It’s lovely out of the wind.No diet as such here, it’s more a lifestyle change.
KZ< woohoo baby shower, definitely not a diet day.
AV, those scales sound like fun. LOL you being ‘staff’ to your grandkits, I am currently ‘staff’ to daughters fish. I had to chuckle at son forgetting to get cash, when I took airy to the airport earlier this year I discovered I didn’t have any cash to pay for the car parking so Airy emptied out her purse for me. 😳
Lagatta your salad sound wonderful, I considered making a salad for lunch but it was just a little too cool so went with a peppery soup.
JJ, sorry you have the crud. I hope you can fight it off quickly. Hubby is an angel to go and get breakfast sandwiches.
KJ, I can see you have a few days of amazing spin class ahead of you.
I am almost back to my usual long gym session after being off with a cold and bronchitis for a couple of weeks. feel great after today’s session.

Pretty much everything I put in that salad could have gone in a soup as well, and I’ve been certainly eating more soup than salad in recent months! But I just crave some fresh vegetables – everything is late this year after a very cold winter.

That is the very idea behind “No Diet Day” – it is not supposed to be a day for a food binge, but indeed not to feel guilty if one has had a larger and fancier meal than the “usual” because of a celebration. I found I simply had to cut portion sizes, and eat out of a smaller plate, bowl or soup plate. A “scodella” in Italian, for a salad, pasta, soup etc.

I discovered some soup I’d made in the freezer, will have to see if it is still good – I know it is salubrious, but food can get a stale taste if it is frozen for too long – our freezers aren’t as cold as large commercial ones.
