Father’s Day is celebrated on 3rd Sunday of June in Canada, U.S. and Ireland. It’s celebrated in Australia and New Zealand on the 1st Sunday in September.

Taking full opportunity of the day, people honor their father and express affection and gratitude for them. Many people indulge their father by presenting them with loads of gifts and allowing them a day of rest. With that in mind, we’ll celebrate Fathers Day as kits do!

    Love the lion and cub!

Wonder what Dorry’s Dad looked like? As they say – one always knows who the Mom is!

Good morning – my dad loved cats! And trains and playing the sax and scouting and nature and the ocean. And Mom. And his kids. And his grandchildren!
Comet’s daddy was a giant black cat. Like father like son!

What adorable pics….love the cat biting his lip!

My dad loved cats too, and he especially loved mine! He always questioned me about whether my outside cats had access to enough fresh water and if I was feeding them enough…and my response: “Yes Dad, they have food and I just filled up the water bowls.” 😐 Wish I could hear him ask me that again. Happy Father’s Day Dad!!

I miss my dad so much! Can’t believe it’s been 20 years since he passed!!! He was an animal lover, and cared for the many cats I brought home over the years …. never berated me, always welcomed them and made a place for them …. he was a very strong but gentle man ….. and I will say, I’ve married the same …. Mr. AV indulges my cat obsession (even tho he grew up with dogs) and is kind/gentle to all our furrbabies …. and he is a GREAT father – taught my Daughter what a good husband should look like (and she’s married similar) and taught our son how to be a good man and will be a great father (when the ‘right’ girl comes along) …. I am blessed

… right now, Mr. AV is nap/watching his US open golf (love it), Son is at his new home working and I’m relaxing and reading …. a good Sunday in AV world.

Concats to MS and family, I will enjoy virturally your new addition until I am blessed with some of my own 😉

Hope everyone is having a restful day, and all those fathers out there – we love and appreciate you!!

Good morning all from a cold, wet and dark Winters morning. I am considering lighting the fire soon and that leads me on to possibly cooking tonight’s dinneer on top of it. Mmmmmmmmmmm warmth and cooking food.
JJ, love your Dad’s loves. 🙂
Seems we all come from families where Dad loves cats, I guess we learned by their actions, isn’t that how it should be.
Oh Wow, it would be my late Dad’s 103rd birthday today. How appropriate.
Happy Birthday and Father’s Day Dad.

My Dad adored our cat WhiteFoots, especially when she retired from farm life to go and live with them. They had a very close relationship and were so good for each other.
KZ and AV, I totally understand how you feel, it’s been 15 years since Dad passed away.
AV, it will happen some time. 😉 😉 The most difficult part is biting your lip to stop yourself from dropping hints.

One loaded chili con carne in the Le Creuset and sitting on top of the fire box. My version of a Winter slow cooker.
I am surprised at the small number of posts the last few days and wonder if people are having trouble with the site. I know I have been but KJ has let Kittermaster know.
Shadz almost had a namesake at friends of KK’s in Canada recently but the stray cat which was going to become the barn cat turned out to be the neighbours and went home. She was going to have her own cat door in the barn and knowing the owner she would have been spoiled and loved.

Looks like we have a few daddy’s little girls here!
Hubby and I are sitting outside with some lemonade while the birds flitter about and sing their evening songs. Many years ago I was sitting out here on the patio with my parents on a hot summer day. Neighbor was trying to get his boat started and dad got such a kick out of a mockingbird imitating the boat from its perch in a tree! Such treasurable moments.

JJ, sitting outside with lemonade with flittering birds around you. I am enjoying your description at the moment as it rains yet again. It is one of those cold wet temperatures that you feel in your bones here but the fire is going, ticking over slowly while the aroma from dinner is just making itself known. Lunch time now.

My dad loved cats. Even though it’s been 18 years, he was the warm fuzzy in my life. We had stray mom in the backyard of our first house and when she had kittens dad watched them.

When I was in first grade, a classmates’ cat had kittens. I went to see them (first mistake) and fell in love with a fluffy Calico. Mom wasn’t going to let me keep her but dad said I could and named her Mergatroid. Well, if I had a kitten, my sister had to have a kitten. She got a Siamese and named her Sugar. And so it began…..

I love the sit ups, watching the football game and let me inn! It’s been a cool day with rain all afternoon. Them say we have a 40-60% chance of rain for the next 5 days. Yea-I turned the sprinklers off and get to save water.

Heavens to Mergitroid! Wasn’t that a cartoon?
Yuck on the cold rain, but there’s nothing like the feel of a cozy fire to take the bone chilling dampness out of the house while dinner on the stove fills the house with a heavenly aroma.

Wow, all too soon we will be lighting fires again MS! But for today–it’s absolutely ghastly outside with high humidity and 93 degrees F–a gift from AV’s gulf coast!! 😀 Not so much fun in the Midwest where there are no ocean breezes to cool you off, just corn growing so fast you can almost hear it!

I have been so excited about a nesting pair of Baltimore Orioles that made their basket nest right above the garage. We have been watching them with a spotting scope of Mr. KZ’s. The babies fledged yesterday and lo and behold, this morning there were two dead baby birds on my front porch by the kitchen door–courtesy of either Harvest or Gilbert. 😡 I’m livid and devastated. I haven’t seen the parents at all today. My heart is broken. I even put out another hummy feeder that had bigger ports in it for them so they could feed from it and they were all over my flower gardens, especially the blossoms that were orange. These two cats are the bird chasingest cats I’ve ever seen. I’ve rescued many the last two weeks, and the Orioles decided to make their nest so close to the house they most certainly were doomed from the start. 😥

I have hummingbirds, but haven’t seen nests this year. I think I waited too long to get my feeders out because it was so cold here for so long!

My father (like my mother) never turned away a stray cat or dog in his life. When he died, a few years after my mother, my sisters and I had to find new homes for 7 cats and 3 dogs – and, of course, we already had our own households of cats and dogs. My parents also opened their doors to the children of a distant relative who was going through a difficult divorce, and to a school friend of my sister’s who had a dificult home life.

Great pics. Particularly love the football-watching cat. ‘ButButBut – I’m dad!’: Stray kitten Oscar tried to suckle from my old Solomon for several months. Oscar was one very confused cat, and Solomon was very tolerant.

Heaps of rain here – we’ve had approx 2 inches over the last couple of days. Now heading towards MS. Sorry about that.

Has intermittently been very hard to get past the opening screen; a bit hit-and-miss. Bandwidth problem?

    Good old Snagglepuss.
Great story of how you and your sister got your cats PG.
KZ, yuk, high humidity. Our days of that were not all that long ago, our Summer continued well in to Autumn and then suddenly Winter happened.
Oh how wonderful watching the Baltimore Oriole nesting and now the babies fledged. Oops Harvest ! Gilbert ! naughty boys.
    😥 😥
PM, sounds like you came from a home with plenty of room for sharing love.
What ! More rain for us PM, how kind of you. Hopefully it will all fall before it gets to the East Coast where I live.
Ahhhh, so you have been having difficulties too PM, I couldn’t read anything at all unless I signed in first, the ‘Forums’ button was not operating at all, even when using my cell phone.
