The idea behind the Pet Fire Safety Day is to make pet owners aware of the hazards to their beloved cat, dog, or other animal in an emergency. It ‘s also a reminder that if pets are left alone with candles, etc., they can cause a fire. Pet owners should take advantage of the day to discuss who in a home is responsible for helping a pet escape in the event of a blaze and carry out some practice escape drills. Besides having a pet alert notice in all windows closest to door, pets need an emergency “suitcase,” too. Review this checklist to make sure your whole family is prepared for a fire or other disaster.

The latest news update is that ‘Uncle Ali’ has now been assigned a house by Bolu Social Aid and Solidarity Foundation. A team sent by the Mudurnu (district of Bolu) Government is also preparing the new house for the old man.

I have a sticker on my door alerting fire peeps (G-d forbid) to Dorry’s presence. Aside from checking off that a kitteh lives here I also put his name as he will respond to it.

Yes, I have that pet sticker on my door too. And her name, as she does respond to it.

Hi all, Happy Sunday! I have that sticker on my door too. And an emergency pack.
Big storms rolled through the area overnight, and now my sister’s flight back to Wisconsin has been cancelled. Looks like one more day of shenanigans here in Jersey!

Hi all! Didn’t make it to the cafe yesterday, and late today! Well, it’s the weekend and busy with comings and goings.

JJ, have fun with sis one more day! Storms forecasted for tomorrow here, but we could actually use a little rain. The grass is dry but still green and I’m having to water my potted flowers in the evening after they have baked in the sun all day. I think the temps are to be a little cooler this coming week, but not sure about the humidity. It’s a sauna out there right now.

Sauna outside here too! All I need is a towel and a bench and Sven the masseur. Some of you must remember him from the Night Shift Café. but being partly nekked outside, hmmm .. although the way some peeps dress … 😉 😆

So 4th day of DIY spin class. Roof repairs in cycle studio scheduled to be complete for next Sun. Hope so! The moved some bikes into an auditorium. But place is used by day camp so just the way early am and nite classes are on. And of course my fave Wed class is not on as place is booked for some event. Today there were classes but not loving the instructor I opted for DIY, where the program/music is mine and I tend to work out even harder. The have some substitute classes, but not for me as I only spin at gym. Other stuff. ie wts, Pilates sit-ups I do at home. Anyway the instructor told me that the venue is not pretty and airless. And this way I go on my own time.

There were 2 guys just loafing on the attack bike that is the cap on my workout. While watching World Cup on all the screens. Fortunately for them one of the guys had gotten up when I was ready to use it. Guess they didn’t get the memo that it’s a gym, not their living room!

Just finished giving street-find wall-mount bthrm cabinet it’s 2nd and final coat of paint. Amazing what it holds and how much neater everything looks. Checked online and these things go for quite a bit of $$$. It wasn’t all that much fun getting the thing on the wall all by myself, def 2 peeps would have been better, but I somehow managed. And had I bought one prob would have had to put it together from scratch. And my level says it’s level! When it’s all dry and nice will post a pic. Back of wall is a mess due to countless install screw-ins, but that will get painted over when I arrange for this big job in a few weeks.

Landlord is giving me grief over getting in plumber to fix scalding shower situation. Grrr. His go-to ‘tude is that if there is nothing wrong I pay plumber, if a fix is req’d he’ll pay. I already conferred w/plumber so there is a prob. Don’t get why he is being such a total jerk. He’s still trying to sell 2 condos on my floor. The guys in the other one moved out. Things work considering, or I am willing to put up with things. But if someone wants to fork out big $$$ well LR window frame needs replacing. I know the secret of how to open it as disclosed by repair guy. But if someone is in buying mode (and wants to become my new landlord LOL) they should bring in an inspector. And landlord by law should disclose issues. Or I could tacitly disclose. He would do well to be nicer to me.

Went to bed way late again last nite, as sun was rising. And beginning of wk busy as in tomorrow have to go somewhere before the gym, then hair trim. And Tues, gym and then the stress-laden appt where ideally things can get sorted out so that I can get decent sleep and guts calmed down, this has been going on since Winter. And later an appt to de-stress from earlier appt. Just need to get through. *She tells herself*

I don’t understand why peeps don’t have basic information about their pets available for emergency personnel. Of course, TDKers are on the ball.

    Enjoy your sister hanging around.

Last month, you had flooding up to backyard patio and today, you can use some rain, KZ. That’s funny how Mother Nature works. How are the crops? Did you get your corn in yet?

OMG! I’m so proud of you, KJ. You put a bathroom cabinet up all by yourself and no reported injuries. Yea! Sorry about the gym situation. I know that spin class is a stress reducer for you.

I’m still doing the spin class, but on my own, or rather with the other Fitness Centre denizens. They have the most awesome bike “known as my bike” with no bells and whistles but that’s how I like it. I get to socialize in the locker room and peeps stop by and chat for a moment. But I get wkt done in record time and get to watch others on neat machines. And get to use the attack bike which is another plus. Anyway would this were my biggest prob and it’s just for the week or so.

Well a bit bruised and shoulders ache some, and almost fell off ladder as I forgot I was on the 2nd step, bit scary when stepping down, but installed cabinet relatively unscathed! Though I would not want to do it again as it took too long to get both sides hooked up. Even managed to install those plastic screw holders that N maintains makes things more secure. Another purrson would have been a help. But a grrl’s got to do what a grrl’s got to do! And managed to to get rid of 3 shelves, also street-finds. Amazed at amount of stuff cabinet holds!

And here it is. Continually amazed at what the street provides. Peeps tell me that they have no luck finding things. I find that one has to “not” be looking.

I haven’t been in to the Cafe for a few days, things just kept me away but I’m back. We had a very wet windy and wild weekend. After an unusually warm evening Sunday we had thick fog this morning and now in the afternoon we have glorious sunshine. I don’t know what to wear, warm clothes or light clothes. It’s crazy.
    Love the coffee cats.
JJ, I’ve missed you and your sister having shenanigans! I bet you have had fun and woohoo one more day.
KZ, I can’t get over how it wasn’t so long ago that you were having flooding and too regular rain but now you are having to water your potted flowers. It doesn’t take long to change from one extreme to another does it.
I missed a street find KJ, sounds interesting. You did well to get it up on the wall all by yourself without straining something. As for the landlord and the hot water problem I certainly hope that he gets a good bill for the fixing of what appears to be a genuine problem.
I had to admit I was surprised about the door stickers naming your pet in case of an emergency. The idea hadn’t crossed my mind with most cats here being indoor/outdoor.
Okay, so KJ wasn’t totally unscathed from her DIY cabinet instillation.
Ohhhhhh nice cabinet and looks perfect in your bathroom.
The fact that you walk almost everywhere helps with you spotting street finds KJ.
I had a good chuckle yesterday, I hang a seed bell out for the birds to peck away at but the had finished it and there was just the central plastic hook left and sitting right under was the neighbours cat Tinker. She was looking quite smug until the birds began dive bombing her and then she raced over to me at the door and proceeded to squeak and hiss to me how she has been since I last saw her. She is an odd wee cat who is beginning to learn how to cat. Spent the morning with daughter while her hubby was off jet boating. Baby is the size of a pomegranate now apparently.
Oh yes I have a question, her cat has suddenly taken to weeing on the floor inside and we caught her in the act of weeing on the carpet. Not sure if she doesn’t want to go outside into the cold and wet or if she might have something else going on. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. We have set up a new litter tray in the back porch where it is protected from the weather.

    Beautiful cabinet, KJ.

Well, if its not a medical issue with her cat then I bet it’s the baby or the pomegranate. 😆 Her kit knows things are changing but she doesn’t know what or why. The only way she can show her distress is by bad behavior. I would talk to her vet and see what I advice they give you.

We had someone ask (on TDK) about sudden behavior changes in her cat. I said that both get a check up to rule out medical issues and it turns out she was pregnant.
