Morning PG! ….. I had my BBQ hat on yesterday! …. I grilled BBQ chicken outside, and made homemade mac n cheese, fresh coleslaw and fresh half runners (green beans) to go with …. finished off with my ice-box key lime pie (Mr. AV’s favorite) …. I was just in the cooking mood/mode, had my radio/music cranked, it was a nice day!

…. today I’m going to get caught up on some minimal housekeeping and spend some serious porch time reading …. one of my favorite past times 🙂
…. have a great Sunday all!

Morning all, sunny at the moment, but it’s cold! 42* at the moment and windy. Wow. PJ’s sound like my uniform for the day too, at least for this morning. Hubby went shooting after not being able to for several weeks because of the weather…I think he was going into withdrawal.
We took my sister and brother in law to a very ritzy steak house last night for her birthday, it was fantastic. We had steaks and hubby had lamb chops–the sides were lobster mac and cheese, (amazing!) brussel sprouts with hazelnuts in a brown sugar coating (MMMMM!) and sauteed spinach and mushrooms (yummy) and a wedge salad with signature bleu cheese dressing drizzed with balsamic vinegar/bacon and candied pecans. I still wasn’t hungry when I got up this morning so just am having coffee. A memorable birthday to be sure!
Well, off to putter around and clean the cat boxes….later!

Morning Deb! ….. the secret gardens are beautiful, and Clawdie is a star! ….. glad the head is cooperating today! …. hey, we’ll take what we can get, eh?
I’m so frustrated right now, went out to get in the car to run to the store, and it wouldn’t start :/ …. I’ll just have to wait til Mr. AV gets home, and looks like we’ll be at the auto/battery store first thing monday …
…. going to be a hot/muggy day here, I’m glad we installed new ceiling fans on the porch, it keeps a breeze going and actually makes it pleasant …. have a great Sunday all!

I thought you were going to relax on the porch with Abby, AV? Apparently, your car thinks you should do it. 😉

It’s been a while since we heard from you Deb. Glad you’re feeling somewhat hoomin today. I love Miss Clawdette.

That birthday dinner sounds delish? Lobster mac-n-cheeze? I’ve never heard of it but sounds like I should find it. 😛

Time for coffee and the Sunday New York Times. l8r

Good morning – love the red neck bbq (shopping cart)! Yes that’s something you’d see around here. Today is not a good bbq day, it’s very chilly and windy, much like other parts of the country – looking at you, KZ and KJ! Think I’ll take a container of soup from the winter out of the freezer for tonight. We do barbeque year round though, and even have “the grillin’ parka” – my dad’s parka that will stand up to any weather. AV, I’m sooo making frozen key lime pie later this month when family from out of state come to visit!
Hi Deb – great to see you here! Hope you keep on feeling up to par. I forgot to click on the links before I started posting, but thank you for them – you always post cool stuff.
KZ, dinner sounds fabulous! Lobster mac & cheese, drool…
I’ve been up since daybreak. Hubby was up and out early and I didn’t get back to sleep, so got up and out early myself, down to niece’s place to feed/scoop l-box/play with her kitties and still get back at regular breakfast time for the JJ crew. I’d like to stay indoors today, but the fencing I’m using for my peas to climb keeps falling, so I have to tend to that. Maybe I can nap later.

    “Stupid bird” hehehe
Yes JJ, shopping cart brings to mind idea of “street find” BBQ, hmmm not! And not frying eggs on sidewalk anytime soon. Srsly cold, 7 C 9 C tomorrow, 21 C by Thurs – allegedly. Back on go the tights and leather jacket. Sooo not my biggest prob. Did find me neat wooden wall piece that purrfectly works in my kitchen, actually matches rust coloured paint and picks up shades in accesories. Took me like 1.5 hrs to get it hung straight, but that’s me.
Feeling zapped and know why but this does not help. Anyway off to gym where most recent scandal has seen our co-ordinator fired “without cause” and of course there’s one side, the other side and the truth. No one knows who will replace her, if anyone, going thing in work world seems to be the privilege of “two jobs for the price of one.” So glad to be out of this!

Good morning! Boy, gyms can hold a lot of drama, can’t they, KJ? My cousin who is like a sister worked at a gym that was non-stop drama, mostly related to manager/owner relations. She’s ain a better place now.

Maybe it’s a regional thing but I notice some folks use the verb “to barbecue” as “to grill”. In my mind “to barbecue” means “to smoke a piece of meat and add a tomato based sauce to it.” The other I call grilling or cooking out. Maybe it’s just a family difference. Either way I’m always surprised to show up to a “barbecue” and find grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Now, I’m hungry for barbecue….our favorite BBQ place is just down the street….hmm.

AV’s and KZ’s Saturday dinners sound delish!

We are getting some WEIRD weather right now…. Quarter inch chunks of white ice covering the deck, then rain, more ice, rain and lots of wind! Whoa….. Glad I am home and inside!! The sun was just out not long ago. I put more seed out. Had the cardinal couple and Indigo enjoying the seeds. Baby squirrel sat and ate even with all the ice coming down. LOL He didn’t even budge!
SO funny to read about Texas and the feral pigs above, just now as I am watching the same thing on TV!
JJ, did you get the ice chunks as well??? Love hearing about the “Grillin’ parka”. 🙂 How cool…..
AV, sorry about your car. Your dinner and dessert sounds SO YUMMY though!!! *Drooling…..
KJ, sorry you are feeling zapped…..

Getting ice now, BB. There are 4 cats looking at me from their shelters!
Ooh, I’m so mad, I had to block someone on fb. I don’t often post pictures of my cats to my general fb audience – usually keep it to TDKF – but there are many cat-loving friends who are not on TDKF. If you’re not going to say something nice about my cats, keep scrolling! *rant over*

Tks BB, I feel sorry for myself too. 🙁
And freezing here too. Summer, why have you left us? Peeps back in winter gear!!!
But it was a street-find Sunday. First up is the kitchen hanging found the other day that took me way long to hang. Then today on way to gym found this picture that for some reason speaks to me of Matisse ad also of “The Little Prince.” Had to basically disassemble the thing, wash the glass, reassemble it and attach hanging wire.

JJ, all that I have to say is what on earth could someone say about your kits – or anyone’s kits for that matter – that would be nasty? No answers needed, let’s not give troll the energy. Yet another day when peep’s stupidity astounds me. And yet another reason why I am not and never will be on FB. Your kits are awesome, but you don’t need me to tell you that.

Wow, ice in May! That is crazy, BB and Joan! I don’t even know what to say about that FB situation, Joan….grr!

I like both your street finds, KJ. Especially the blue one, so peaceful.

    Good Monday morning all.
BBQ season has pretty much finished here with it being late Autumn and Daylight Saving over for six months.

Multipurpose but um no, not for me thanks.

Just had a big surprise, Shadz caught a sparrow and brought it inside. I had to take it from her and the poor wee thing was mortally injured and passed away in my hands. 😥 I has a sad. It may have been a common sparrow but it was a life that is no longer. Shadz was scolded. It has been some years since she has caught a bird and all I can think is that the approaching cold weather triggered some message that it was time to put on Winter bulk which she has finally doing in the last couple of weeks. She is well on the way to becoming HRH Butterball after being the thinnest ever this Summer. Guess I can’t argue with natural instincts but I can let her know of my displeasure.
PFG, love the pics, especially the four gingers calling for their favourite foods. That last one must be Shadz in disguise though. LOL at the redneck bbq, I posted one too.
Hi Deb, glad you are feeling at least half way decent, hope that means you are on the ascent for how you feel. Thanks for the links, lovely story about Miss Clawdette. Please ignore the anti-cat comments, they happen since a self important wealthy man has taken it upon himself to decide that cats should be eradicated here. Yeah right Gareth, that’s not going to happen here, we love our cats in NZ. Loved the hummingbird vid that was on one of them.
KZ, your dinner has made me feel hungry, I am so wanting Brussels sprouts but it’s too early, they need frost on them to sweeten them first and we have still been getting temps of about 20C during the day.
AV, that sucks monkey toes about the car not starting, I hope it is a quick fix.
JJ, the ‘grillin parka’ sound like a great idea. Hope the new pea fence is easy to install. Well that was unfluffy of someone to say something not nice about your outdoor crew.
KJ, sorry about the ‘drama; at the gym, all very disruptive I am sure.
ECB, interesting comments about BBQ-grill etc. Here we call it BBQing, I hadn’t heard of grilling until some TV programmes from the US were shown here. Smoking meats as in your description is not something that is really done here. So we cook food on the bbq and call it bbqing. Just to confuse things when daughter Airy was living in LA she had to ask what broiling was as her oven had a broil function but no grill. Seems it’s called broiling in the US and grilling here when you use the top element only of the oven to brown the top of something.
Wow BB, the weather really doesn’t know what to do at your place. Squeeee a baby squirrel.
Ice for BB and JJ, who is next I wonder.
Odd weather here today, definitely cooler and going from overcast to briefly sunny and now drizzling with rain and possible thunder later. Off to find something warm for lunch.

Hi MS! There is actually a freeze warning here for us tonight. I have some baskets that I put in the garage, hope they will be okay. It’s been seriously cold here this weekend. I only have onions in the garden now, so they will be all right. But I’d better cover up my basil or I’m sure it will get zapped. Again. *sigh*
I’m sorry you have a sad about the little bird. I am very sensitive to things like that too, and I guess I will always be that way. I have taken lots of little animals from my cats over the years. I know it’s their instincts, but darn it I feed them and don’t think they need to be killing things. I did have a wonderful mom cat that would kill rats in the barn. We need her skills now, as I only have Maxwell outside now and he doesn’t kill anything for which I’m thankful.

Well MS, you don’t know how many toilets I’ve seen as potential “street finds” but hehehe, that multipurpose idea, no way! Ewww!
Raining out and will not be surprised if it turns to sleep, yes it’s that cold.
Off to bed with hopes of getting srs sleep as 7 am spin class, meaning 5:20 alarm, then appt after class which I’d rather not be going to, but there it is. Nite all!

Wow I had no idea that Canadian rain could turn to sleep. MS hides to avoid whatever KJ aims my way.
It will be raining here soon too, not sure if the forecast thunder storms will eventuate in my area.
    Sleep like the rain KJ.
