    My darling little Speck has a seizure, or convulsion this morning. I’m not sure if she fell off the end of the bed and thats what caused it, or of the seizure made her fall. It didn’t last that long, under a minute, but man I was worried. After it stopped I just held her, and I lied down with her on mu chest,reassuring her. And very quickly she wanted to get up and start wandering around doing her thing. I think maybe I was the one who needed the reassuring. But I’m really worried that maybe shes going to keep having these seizures and maybe her condition will get worse. does anyone have any experience with hydrocephalus. Her head isn’t all rounded like I have seen in pictures. As you can tell by her picture she looks close to normal. The vet said her skull is abit misshapen, but I wouldn’t have known that by looking at her. I’m looking online for as much information as I can, but I hoped maybe someone out there would have some advice as well.

    Hathor, there was a previous thread on hydrocephalus — click on the pink tag and you’ll find it.

    The AVMA guidelines on first aid for pets advise timing the seizure (normally 2-3 minutes) then, after it’s over, keep the animal as warm and quiet as possible and phone your vet!

    GD has experience with seizures with her Bobby, and he’s being treated for them. Poor wee Speck. I hope she’s okay. {{{HUGS}}}

    I’m afraid I don’t have any experience or advice for you, but I will be praying for you and Speck {{{Hugs}}}

    Best advice would be to see the vet. My sister’s cat has seizures. He was found abandoned and had obvious issues (he’s blind, too). he is on phenabarbital which isn’t too expensive. His bloodwork (every three months I think) costs the most. She looks normal and healthy but the vet is definitely the first stop. Coco does okay. Sleeps very soundly from the meds but otherwise he gets around okay and does well. Occassionally will have a breakthrough seizure if she messes up his med timing but otherwise has done really well. Keep us posted!

    Well looking on line is a great way to get some information, it can never take the place of a vet. Take your kitteh to your vet for a complete checkup. Prayers that your vet will be able to help your kitteh!

    She has been to a vet and I called them this morning. They said just to moniter her and keep track of more seizure. That theres really nothing they can do? I’m sure it will be fine. it’s been 4 hours and it’s like nothing happened. My they be few and far between.

    Hathor, think about taking Speck to a different vet, don’t let this happen several times before you take strong measures. I lost my most precious kitty ever to a major seizure, primarily because I let several little ones go by before she had the big one that killed her. I don’t even talk about that particular cat on here, it was so unbelievably painful. Don’t let a vet lull you into thinking it will be okay. That is what happened to me, and I lost my kitty as a result.

    if she has as another one she will be heading back to the vet, as fast as i can get there. I have also called a bunch of vets in town, and they are all saying the same thing. Just to keep an eye on her and bring her in if it happens again. They also can’t confirm hydrocephalus with out brain scans etc. She doesn’t have the big bulging head that you see with most hydrocephalus animal. So her problems could be that or due to almost anything, trauma as a little baby, cardic arrest as a kitten…the list goes on. If only I was a wealthy woman I would have every test possible done. She is the sweetest little girl in the world and deserves as much of a chance at a happy life as any other little kitty.
