I’m fostering an approximately 4 week old kitten and she’s being kept in isolation. I’ve had her for 5 days. She has neurological issues (tremors, circling, head bob.) She was given pyrantel and fvrcp upon intake at animal control. The time I can spend with her each day is limited. I try to stay with her for at least half an hour to an hour after each feeding (about 5 times per day.) She’s starting to cry every time I leave the room. I’m worried that she’s spending so much time alone. She has some stuffed animals that she wrestles/snuggles with. Any other suggestions? Is the standard 2 weeks isolation necessary or is it safe to bring her out of her room a little earlier? I’d like to be able to bring her out on the couch or bring her kitten pen into the living room so she’s not so alone. I would still keep food/water/litter all separate.
My cat is two years old, female, fully vaccinated and up to date on her boosters. She also gets revolution because she has access to a fenced yard. Other neghborhood cats sometimes visit the yard but she is confined to it due to the fact that she has mild CH (and is a huge baby who doesn’t like to be too far away from me.) She is currently being treated with antibiotics and antivirals for an abrasion on her eye that the vet believes is due to complications from an infection with a viral component. She will be done with her treatment in two days.
