This is a very special time of year for many of us. If you care to share a special memory of your furry family member/s please do so.

Here are several links from past years as TDK Christmas Remembrances

I have shared this story before…and here it is again!
Shaddo was a headstrong kitty – once he set his mind to something, he did it.
Shaddo loved Christmas, especially the tree. He climbed it when he was a baby!
Then in his later years, he loved to sleep under it for the duration of the Christmas season. As I wrapped presents I put them under the tree. A box wound up right at the spot where he liked to sleep. He sat a few feet away and stared at the box. When I finally noticed and moved the box, he happily sat down for a nap! Apparently he wanted that spot, not 6 inches away, but THAT spot!

    Rusty sheltie
Bro Rick’s sheltie Rusty, more relaxed!

Thanks Joan for sharing special remembrance of Shaddo & special spot!

I have a humorous (not a time) recollection from teen years. My bros sheltie Rusty & our white fluffer Winkie were playing tag during the holidays! They were chasing around front room where swivel rocker was situated next to tree. Yup, round & round went the rocker…down went the tree/LOL! No casualties, just a few ornaments! I think it was after Christmas so not as bad/mom not as mad either!

I had a tree disaster as well, JK. At the time we shared our home with Bluegrass, my black soul kitty, and Morgan the German Shepard, whose favorite game was chasing the cat around (any cat, mine, my mom’s, whosever) and slobbering all over their neck. Well, came home from work one day, opened the door and the dog shot out like a bolt of greased lightning (clue 1). I came a little further inside and saw the cat, crunchy scruff and all, giving me That Look (you know the one, all miffed at the disrespect shown to royalty). That was clue 2, and sure enough, when I got to the living room, the tree was knocked half over, leaning against the wall! That was an early apartment, so if anything got broken, it wasn’t the end of the earth, it was probably from the dollar store. My current furball Jes, just likes to lay under the tree, not climb it or mess with the ornaments, so we’re good this year!

Pretty pic of Rusty, JK – for a moment there I thought you got a hold of an old pic of my aunt’s dog, Fawn! Not much of a dog person but I loved that dog! She was a Collie/Shepard mix, knocked little me over whenever I got to play with her. I shared memories of Fawn with Aunt M right up to 2011, when she was reunited with Fawn and they crossed The Rainbow Bridge together. She seemed to enjoy Fawn stories, for hanging out with our family meant tons of cat stories!
LOL, PC. Yeah, I guess it wasn’t funny at the time, but at least nothing was broken. Good for Jes for just looking and enjoying the tree. 🙂

My Rainbow Bridge kitty Nicky was tentatively treading along the edge of the bathtub while I was soaking in the bath. I told him “Nicky boy be careful cause it’s each man/girl for himself”. Nonetheless he fell in, water went splashing everywhere. He flew out of the tub and went dashing around the apt, it seemed as though he had no idea how to get his furry tuxedo dry again. Eventually I caught up to him and dried him off with a fluffy towel. Then he proceeded to lick himself to “regain his former coiffure”. I love Dorry, but I miss Nicky, my first pet who taught me how to love and be loved.

Funny Nicky story, thanks for sharing!

    Shaddo, the Cristmas loving kitty:
One year, around Christmas time, hubby and I sat down to a breakfast of scrambled eggs and cheese. Both boys were moochers, but Shaddo had a special look about him that morning. His sparkled like we’ve never seen. He pawed at hubby, which was uncharacteristic; they usually just demanded to have their share of what we had. So hubby put some on a plate for Shaddo. He happily enjoyed it and then proceeded to run at top speed all around our tiny house. He zoomed past the tree, and sent a starfish ornament that was on the bottom branch spinning wildly. He put pure joy in our hearts that morning and ever since, even after Shaddo had left to go to The Bridge, that ornament must be hung on a bottom branch where it can spin with ease, just in case Shaddo decides to visit.
