Ok, I did it. Well not around the lake, as I couldn’t get to it, but I walked along the road, up a really steep road that loops back down to the road, then the road goes up, and up again when I get to my street. I had to stop 6 times and stand in the snow while a car went by, that’s how narrow the roads are. Saw some folks hanging outside, and exchanged typical Jersey salutations: “Hey, how you doin?” “How YOU doin?”. I said, “It’s nice to be outside without swearing!”

Joan, don’t they clear the snow in your area? Or do they just wait for Mother Nature to melt it, in a month or so hopefully. Here they plow the snow and dump it either on the side of the street where I want to walk or in some lot, I have no idea where.

They plow the roads, but they are narrow. There are no sidewalks. When 2 cars encounter each other, one has to back up! That’s usually the case even when there isn’t snow.

hahah thats ny! its gud not to have a car in nyc, parking is hard.

    Wow Nirmal,
You got lots of FREE exercise today. You too Joan! Glad to hear some of you have been out enjoying the pretty day. The sun was SO nice today, again. Sure saves on the heating! 🙂 I love to wash dishes as the sun shines in on me! But, it’s a problem though as Gavin wants that same spot! LOL
Made a crock pot of stew today. The house smelled SO good! Yummy too! I will get a LOT of meals from that batch. Mmmm…. it will taste even better tomorrow!

I have been reading a crock pot recipe site. Did you know you can cook rice in a crock pot, kind of like a rice cooker? I’ll have to try that! Next, I want to make lentil soup.

Have never tried rice in the slow cooker. Lentil soup, yum!

Leela was upset with me, but I think I’m forgiven. I brought her, while in her bed, up to my bed to see if she would sit with me. Nope. She got down & hid under the chair. So I put her bed back. Saw her a little while later by her bed & figured she was heading back there. She was getting out of it after peeing in it! Between being mad at me and my forgetting to scoop the litter box this morning, she was done with me. I put the bed insert and put it outside for now. Zinga and another kitty have already checked it out. Meanwhile, there’s another insert in the bed and she is settled back again, and purrs when I pet her.

This is so dumb, the city should leave her alone…

Yeah Deb, like unless some details were left out of story, if the woman is not ill or causing a prob, let her be.

Nice that everyone got out today. For first time this Winter I actually opened the windows for fresh(er) air. Previously had been too cold. Anyway this tease was just that, we’re going back into the deep freeze. *sighs*

Why ever would Leela be upset with you Joan? Hmmm … ’cause she’s a kitty? Sometimes Dorry just attacks me, I think purrhaps to get rid of excess energy or to remind me of my place LOL.

Spent 4 hrs working out sweater pattern, so now front and back are assembled, just collar and sleeves left. Funny thing is fibre partly floofy, shedding alpaca yarn and peeps say I have cat hairs all over me. Like no, Dorry has a low shed factor, esp as I brush him daily, his fur gets way more grooming than my hair.

Deb, those Animal Rescue Site stories are heart melting. Site also has some neat stuff, I’m one of their loyal customers. Can always find something I (don’t necessarily) need. LOL Sometimes wonder how $$$ spent gets translated into bowls of food for shelter pets, but I’d imagine there’s a way of arranging it.

Need to get a good night’s sleep or attempt same. Got what seem to be a few good reads at library. Hate it when I get all excited about a book and then can’t stand it. Anyway reading in bath/bed is relaxing and Dorry cuddles up next to me (if he wants to). In the bed. At least 3 times I’ve had to pay for books that “fell” into the bath. Should know better by now. Whatever. Have a good nite, all!

Wonderful story of the companion dog and the old lady rescue cat. Though I had them their entire lives, Shaddo and Jiggs were beyond precious in their golden years, even with all of their issues and quirks.
Stupid officials are too worried about ratables; people should be encouraged to be self sufficient. I am thankful to have my own well, which could be converted to a hand pump system if necessary, and a wood stove for heat and cooking. I would be interested in solar panels – the house is tall enough.
Funny about the material vs cat hair KJ!

See you on the flip side, KJ, have a good evening. 🙂
BB, almost missed your stew, sounds wonderful. Nirmal, how fabulous was it to wear flip flops today? I have a pair by the back door that were buried under a pair of heavy-duty slippers.
Miss Leela has never peed innapropriately, even throughout the home reno when she was a kitten and her stuff was in a different spot every week. I do think it was a litterbox issue, coupled by my bringing her where she didn’t want to be. She may also still be upset by the vacuum cleaner. I admit to not vacuuming the bedroom every week because of her, although her bed gets cleaned of excess fur every week.

Hi everyone, another glorious day here but it was a nippy start to the day. Maybe the first signs that Autumn is on it’s way. I was woken by a courier knocking on my door but I didn’t get downstairs in time so I have to wait until tomorrow to find out what the package is, I wasn’t expecting one so maybe it’s a competition win. Oh the anticipation.
Deb, Thunderbird Lodge looks wonderful especially with the Elk wandering around like that.
Wow, so many of you managed to get out and about for a walk today, would you be seeing the first hints of Spring? It’s too hot and humid to go out walking here.

    #802604

id like to think ti was spring on the way. next week is gonna be nasty cold tho.
