Seems like it was just yesterday. I am going to miss them so much! Hermione and Ron are going to the same home, and will be leaving Sunday. The rescue decided Harry is too damaged to adopt him out, especially now that he has developed an issue getting into the litterbox to potty. They were planning on putting him down, but I offered to keep him to rehabilitate. I couldn’t let them end such a young life. So it worked out ok for all of them. Gosh I feel so sad, and happy at the same time. These guys managed to bury themselves into my heart, more than my first set. I will miss them!!

Now I want to cry /:

Awww, best of everything to sweet Ron and Hermione. Hold Harry close to your heart; he was meant to be with you.

Maybe this could help Harry….. I think there is a “sprinkle version” that you can use on regular litter. You would need to research. Also they make litter pans that have one end lower than the other sides….for an easier entry to. Just a thought.

Awwww….can he not get into the litterbox because the sides are too high…if that is it, try using an old cookie sheet or one of the boxes they use at the store for the small wet can kitty foods…put a plastic bag as a liner and then litter on top of it…or use a wee pad for puppies on the bottom with litter on top…

He can climb into it, but after his vet stay his behaviour changed, like he reverted back a couple of weeks. He started suckling and not using the litterbox to pee. He goes in to poop, but not to pee. He will make it in about 60% of the time to pee but otherwise he pees on blankets or plastic bags. He gets in fine (nothing a hop can’t solve) but for some reason he isn’t inclined to use it!

I had a foster who was abused her first 2 weeks of life before being abandoned in a wet box outside the shelter. She hissed and ran from everyone and everything for awhile, but slowly opened up to me (and only me!). At three months, she was a happy, healthy kitty – but unadoptable, because she was so antisocial. I ended up keeping her, and now she’s part of the family. She sometimes lets my sister pet her, but for the most part I’m the only human she will be around without freaking out.

I’ve seen so many of my co-fosterers end up taking home a baby when they are unadoptable – I guess sometimes it’s just meant to be between a foster and a baby 🙂

Aww poor baby, I think that is true. But I purposely foster so I won’t adopt new kittens haha. You can never really plan for such circumstances though. I do think it was meant to be. The foster coordinator seemed set on euthanasia at first but then she seemed like she was hoping for another option so I offered. I’d be worried to let him go to any other home… I don’t think many people have time to keep track of a kittens litter habits!

Chaos, thank you for giving Harry a place in your home and your heart- I know the rescue has to concentrate their efforts on placements they believe will have the greatest success, but he’s only a baby! You give toddlers lots of time to potty-train: why not kittens? I bet Harry will come around after the stress of the vet’s stay wears off, with your love and support.

Maybe once he realizes he has a nice safe home, he’ll revert back to better litter habits. Have you tried a second litter pan, maybe a smaller one with different litter? He might be willing to use the regular litter for poop and a pan with newspaper for peeing.

Maybe Harry would like a softer litter then, like one made from pine shavings? It might be too harsh on his sensitive area when he squats to pee.

I am going to try different litter, there is a litterbox in the hallway that he loves. He bolts out of the room to go use it and play in it. Gosh he is so cute.

Sometimes kitties need to find just the right place. My guess is Harry might use that other litterbox that he likes to play in. Crossing fingers!

Awww, poor little baby…but like others, I think you were meant to be his meowmy! Give him some time, he will figure it out. I’ve hand reared many kittens and some just take longer than others with the litterbox. At least YOU didn’t give up on him! I wish these places would just take euthanasia off the table, period. Bless you for keeping him!

He was trained before but stopped when he was having problems with peeing he wouldn’t go in the box either. They were going to give him a 3 week trial but when I offered to keep him they decided they’d rather just do that then wait 3 weeks. So she waived his adoption fee (60 dollars because he is black and I am a volunteer) it will be official when I get the ok to fax the contract in. I love him so much, I was dreading letting him go. I am panicking a little, especially because my precious special baby Luna passed and she was not healthy… He’s in better shape but having an issue peeing is scary… I am hoping as he grows there will be less of a strain on his urethra.
