Hello everyone, I apologize in advance if this post is wrong the place or somehow violates the rules. I managed to contract what I think is ringworm a few weeks ago. The OTC creams weren’t working and new spots kept appearing. I took a course of Diflucan after seeing a doctor for about 3 weeks now with no change, and I fear it’s spreading. The dermatologist I saw yesterday wasn’t certain it was ringworm, so she prescribed me a steroid cream. She told me that if it’s not ringworm, the cream will make the spots go away, but if it is ringworm, the cream will make the spots grow and spread even more. I’m tired or washing my bedding, clothes, towels, and coat everyday. It’s to the point where I’ve resigned to sleeping on the tile kitchen floor because it’s easy to clean with vinegar and I don’t have to worry about filing my bed with any more spores than it already may have. I live alone in a no pets house after my my previous roommates/landlords were expecting a baby and needed my room for the nursery. I’m becoming terribly depressed and am worrying that it’s not safe to go home for Thanksgiving for fear of spreading it to my family and Neko (my little hairy brother in my picture). This is a last ditch effort. Thank you for taking the time to read this. -Grant

Oh I’m so sorry Grant.. I’ve dealt with ringworm so many times and what most people don’t know is that there is at least 5 different strains of ringworm. Some very mild and other a little more difficult to control. Keep using the anti fungal cream and make sure you spread and cover the whole lesion even 1cm outside of lesion too. And Unpasturized apple cider vinegar is amazing to help clear ringworm. I usually dab the apple cider vinegar on lesion and once dried out on the cream. You shouldn’t have to sleep on your kitchen floor 🙁 once you have the cream on before you enter your bed the spores can’t spread. It seems you may have to stubborn strain of ringworm .. But it will clear I promise ..

Try Betadine, or if you can’t get that, iodine. It should kill the individual lesions, just dab it on. I’ve had ringworm from cats several times and it’s always worked so far. Best of luck!

Hi, I don’t have much to add, just my sincere sympathy. I went through a similar excruciating experience with ringworm (my two sons too) but since I don’t know what finally made it go away I’m afraid I have no advice, just sympathy. Betadine and apple cider vinegar were both effective on lesions but didn’t keep new ones from appearing. I’m curious how the steroid experiment will go. Keep us posted and good luck!

Awww Grant, so sorry. My granddaughters got it from their calves one summer, and I used anti fungal over the counter cream. It went away after a few weeks. I don’t have any more advice other than what was offered above, just my heartfelt sympathy.

Thanks for the support, everyone. It means a lot. I’ll keep at it. It helps to know others have dealt with the same thing and got rid of it in the past.
