    Hi all,
I have a sweet little 4 week old kittens that I rescued when she was about 2-3 days old. She is a little fighter but the last few days have been tough. I moved her to a 2nd step KMR which gave her some pretty bad diarrhea and her poor little bum is sore and red. I feel so bad for my mistake and I’m trying to help her. I am feeding her a gruel of the KMR, some kitten wet food, and cooked sweet potato. Her poo is getting more solid but her poor little bum is still sore. Is there anything I can do to help heal her bum? Is there such a thing as like kitty preparation H? Other than a sore bum she is a normal, active little 4 week old.

Yes, anything like Desitin ointment for babies (it’s nontoxic) also, Neo-sporin ointment, Vasline, Aquaphor, that creates a moisture barrier and let’s the skin heal. Put it on every time she goes to the bathroom, but first wipe her well with warm washcloth and make sure it’s dry. She should heal quickly.

Thank you kittyzee! I have been using vasoline and Neosporin interchangeably. I guess I just need to be patient and give her extra cuddles. I just feel so bad that this happened to her but I’m doing everything I can to help her out. I hope her bum heals quickly poor baby!

Yes Courtney, it’s just like a human baby. Sometimes it seems like it will never heal when they go so often and you feel like they are in pain. But it will clear up eventually! Keep us posted on your wee one!
