WWM still cannot post but posted this for Emma on FB in our TDK page, she wanted us to post it here:
A beautiful, healthy young kitty opens his eyes in The Meadow. He slowly blinks and thinks, “It is so peaceful here and the sun is so warm on my back. I think that I will just snooze a bit longer”. But he senses others nearby and opens his eyes to find three black kitties lovingly gazing at him. “Rotley”, they say in the softest of voices, “we have been waiting here for you and we will stay right here with you. Our names are Bombalurina, Willie and Mandy and our momma has whispered to us that you are a special kitty and we are to care for you. We have much to show you and so many friends who want to meet you and give you kisses”. Bombalurina gently kisses Rotley’s face until he can’t help but smile. “Come – someone is waiting for you”. The four kitties set out across The Meadow and Rotley can’t help but stop and rejoice in the feel of soft green grass under his paws, and the scent of lilacs on the breeze. They pass over a lazy brook and the kitties show Rotley the beautiful colored fish that swim in the stream. Every where there are groups of cats and kittens – some are playing, some are napping and some are pouncing on flowers pretending that they are masterful hunters. Suddenly a tiny tortoise colored kitten bounds up to Rotley, giving him a soft sandpaper kiss and tells him, “I am Star and I have been sent to bring you to the Great Wolf of Gubbio. Don’t be afraid – he loves you so much and has been waiting for you.”
Tiny Star is joined by so many cats, kittens, dogs and puppies and they all make their way to a place where a majestic wolf lies in the grass watching them. The Wolf lovingly looks at Rotley and strokes him with his paw. “Welcome, Rotley. How do you feel?”. Rotley has to think about this for a moment and then realizes that he wonderful – he feels healthy, strong, and content. He tries to tell The Wolf but suddenly his eyes fill with tears that wash over his handsome face. “Tell me, Rotley”, says The Wolf. With a shuttering sigh, Rotley tries to find the words to explain. “I miss my momma”, he says with a sob, “and I am so afraid that she will think that I don’t love her”. The Great Wolf shakes his head and asks Rotley why he would ever think that. “Because last night I hissed at my momma and I think that I might have even growled!” Rotley looks at The Wolf and says, “My momma will think that I am angry but I know that she was helping me and I just didn’t like that needle”. The Wolf nods his head in understanding and his golden eyes look down at Rotley with such love. “Rotley, your momma knows, above all things, how much you love her and she understands that you were not upset with her. She loves you with all of her heart and she always will and she knows that the love the two of you share will last for all time”. Star softly kisses Rotley’s tears away as Rotley asks, “But where is she and when will I see her?” The Wolf lies down beside Rotley and tells him about The Meadow…. About the beautiful life that Rotley will have there and about the day, sometime in the future, when Rotley will look up and see his momma coming for him. “But for now, stay with us, and know that all the love she gave you before you came here is still with you. Until that day, know that you are greatly loved here and your momma knows that you are safe and healthy. Now, I think that the kitties have much to show you and so many friends are waiting for you.”
Star, Bomber, Willie and Mandy lead Rotley off to show him all of the wonders of The Meadow. With a backward glance at The Great Wolf, Rotley asks, “What is this place called?” The kitties, in chorus with all of the beloved animals in The Meadow say in unison, “Why, Rotley – this is Paradise”.
