    Hi there

Last night I came home and normally my cat Koomar, who is 9 months old, comes running for me and skips and meows and plays. Last night I could see him sitting behind a gate staring. I called him a lot, and he didn’t seem to recognise me. He was in a complete daze. When I brought him in he flopped down and wouldn’t easily wake up. He didn’t touch his food. I took him to the vets last night and they said he has a fever and gave him an opiate for any pain he maybe be in due causing him to shut down and an appetite stimulator that just made him super hyperactive and act bizarre.

Anyway, the issue now (about 30 hrs later) is his pupils are so large and he is still acting strange. His pupils went down a little bit before but they are like saucers again and he looks wild.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what happened to him?

I am scared he ingested poison, or has a kidney problem.

    Vet ruled out a tic.

I live in Australia, so could he maybe have been bitten by a spider or snake?

Please help, he is acting so strange and it’s making me worry so much.

    Thanks
    Katherine

Yes, I would be worried that he has ingested some kind of toxin, or has been bitten by an insect or spider. If he is not eating or drinking, you may have to syringe feed and especially with water, pedialyte, or a mixture of food with the pedialyte. Just make sure he can swallow. Or take him to a vet that can put in an IV catheter than will administer fluids. It might be a good time to decide to keep him inside, and away from harmful things that could really hurt him.
