I stand corrected Lagatta. Support rally is a great thing, I’m just impressed by the symbol as done by Brewtown. Might have been nice to see cross on Mt. Royal lit up in colours of French flag, or something symbolic like that. Just sayin’.

Our City Hall was lit up. Hope this twitter post shows up here; it is Mayor Anne Hidalgo thanking Mayor Denis Coderre, and the Montreal City Hall (yes, it looks a bit like the Paris City Hall, but the one in Paris is larger and more elaborate) lit up in the tricolore:

    Anne Hidalgo Compte certifié
    ?@Anne_Hidalgo

Merci à @DenisCoderre et aux Montréalais pour leur solidarité fraternelle avec les Parisiens #NousSommesUnis

If it doesn’t show up the time of the post is 08:30 15 Nov 2015

Thank you Lagatta, I too am on Twitter.

Here is a post from Yahoo News:

Warning it is the real thing/raw video from one of the cafes.

I’d rather not watch raw violent videos. They are a bit of a trigger; I was writing a graduate history exam at Université de Montréal the evening of the Polytechnique (Engineering School) massacre. Of course like almost all the students, professors and other staff, I didn’t know about the massacre until friends and family started calling me (late in the evening) to ensure I was alive – afar one only heard the name of the university. Everyone is in a daze during exam week.

Of course if I were reporting on the story, and for people working in security, one has no choice.

Called peeps whom I know have friends/relatives in France. All OK thank G-d, although some of the friends in France know some of the attack victims. 🙁
BFF sent me this interesting reaction from Belgium. It has to do with cats! And with attempting to foil terrorists!
Cats take over Belgian social media in response to police request to avoid tipping off terror suspects

Yes, that was a great story about posting endless cat videos and photos actually being useful, because with an echo of “loose lips sing ships”, unwitting gossip on the net could possibly aid terrorists, in particular the fellow that escaped.

And Diesel wil be buried at the famous pet cemetery in Asnières (a suburb close to Paris – the métro goes there), already a tourist attraction for animal lovers and the curious. There are already police, firefighting and military dogs buried there, and I think even some horses.

http://www.asnieres-sur-seine.fr/Tourisme-international/Patrimoine/Le-cimetiere-des-animaux As you can see, there are also live cats prowling the cemetery! An association feeds and cares for them, and they have their own little house.

Still bemused by fact that cat videos and pics were the chosen way to go in this endeavour, but if cats can help, I’m all for it!
Very fitting tribute and final resting place for hero dog Diesel.
Thanks for share, Lagatta. Interesting article, which I did understand, as I do speak French, living in same city as yourself, LOL. Nice pic of calico kitty keeping watch over the four-footed souls who have crossed over to the Meadow.
