Well, the vet visit was an adventure. The definitive answer: he’s a boy, but it took 2 vet techs plus the vet to reach a consensus! It’s just that he’s so very fluffy, and only about 12 weeks old or so.
He tested negative for FIV and FeLV, so yay! He’s due for more vaccinations in about 4 weeks. He got a treatment of Revolution, so there should be absolutely no problems with fleas, worms, ear mites, etc.
So, that was the good part of the visit. The less-fun part was hearing him holler QUITE loudly in the surgical suite, when they drew blood for the test. He was *not* happy. However, he got a couple Pill Pockets out of it, and that seemed to distract him in a much happier direction.
The other part is that he was running a fever, around 104. No other symptoms, though, although the vet agrees that since we’ve only had him since Saturday, so his current activity level and playfulness may be low for him, and we simply wouldn’t know it.
So he’s on a round of oral antibiotics twice daily for 10 days. And no, he doesn’t like them at all. But he’s easily reassured and coaxed into playing after his dosing.
As far as names go, he hasn’t quite told us his name yet. I’m sure he’ll whisper it to us one night soon. I’m hoping to post more photos tomorrow night. He is so fluffy that it’s a very good thing we have the Furminator – it’s going to come in handy on him!!
